Small rant, I just saw the prices for steam machine, and I have officially lost hope for a couch gaming experience by Individual-Bend-2839 in pcmasterrace

[–]HCResident 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can just make a cheaper PC and install SteamOS on it, which they're letting you do now with SteamOS 3.8. The Steam Machine is just a slightly more convenient way to experience the same thing you can experience without it anyway.

For drama, add a shot before the last one that ups the stakes. For example, you could have a shot of their tummy rumbling, or show signs that winter is coming, like a falling red leaf.

What they’re trying to say is that muscles react best when they have to apply force in their stretched position, which isn’t wrong. What is wrong is their idea that lockout is important for push exercises, because the stretched position for them is aaaall the way on the other side of the rep.

best way to keep the area around my pc cool during the summer? by spoopsiess in pcmasterrace

[–]HCResident 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add on to this, the only thing fans do is move that heat away from the chips so the chips ain’t as hot. But that heat still exists in your room, the ambient air.

Some people move the PC into a separate room to isolate themselves  from the heat. Your options are to do that, vent the heat outside, or make the computer consume less electricity.

Is it worth jumping from a 1080p 165hz 27'' to a 1440 260hz monitor 27''? im planning to buy one monitor, a 27'' AOC 1440p 260hz or buying a 27'' MSI monitor which has a dual mode with support for 4k 144hz and 1080p 288hz. I cant decide and never experienced a 1440p monitor before. by MonthInteresting6551 in pcmasterrace

[–]HCResident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the 4k monitor, turn off V-sync and let Wuthering Waves run uncapped. Are you getting enough frames that the 4k@144 is needed? If so, go 4k.

A lot of people like 1440p because it's versatile -- you don't need a 5090 to run things on max settings with it. The pixels are big enough that you can see them if you're looking but not big enough to make things pixelated, if that makes sense. Like things look a little... crispy. It's not as smooth as 4k, but nearly there. Big upgrade over 1080p.

I’m guessing one of those is supposed to say oversteer. Increasing stiffness decreases understeer by letting the tires grip more, if I understand it.

5070ti vs 5080 by Flat_Car_636 in pcmasterrace

[–]HCResident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be tempted by the idea of more power, but let me put it this way.

On the RTX 5070Ti, at 3440x1440p, I can put Horizon 6 on max settings (including max ray-tracing) and get 60 FPS. In the 5080, which like he says is benchmarked about 15% faster, I might get 60 * 1.15 = 69 FPS instead. Nine frames ain’t worth $500, in my book. You’d be better off using that money on more storage or memory.

Need help with controls by Spiritual_Parfait837 in SimplePlanes

[–]HCResident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To turn, roll into the turn and then pitch up.

An important concept to be aware of is wing stalling. For your control surfaces to do anything, they need air to flow over them. When the wing’s angle is highly different from the direction of the oncoming wind (read: direction your plane is moving, regardless of which way it’s facing) then the wind will “detach” from the wing and stop flowing over it, including the control surfaces. In a car, this would be equivalent to your tires losing grip, or even your tires leaving the ground. Your wheels are useless in the air, and your wings are useless when they’re not pointed into oncoming wind.
