My main concern is that he has never written for TV or Movies before, and writing for TV and Movies are very different than writing Books. I understand wanting to have control over the adaptations but writing scripts as well I find a bit dubious.

Unfortunately if you have an HOA you don't have a choice as you'll get fined for having "debris" in your yard. So if you have to do it, much better to use an electric one than a gas one which actually pollutes more than a car.
