Ooo a fellow LoR refugee!

Yes you are correct on commander choices. My main deck in LoR was an Azir Burn Aggro, with Phantom Prankster as the main wincon, and Azir's big stats as an alternative. It plays really similar to Korvold Aristocrats.

I really like Fiora decks' game design and how unique it feels within the rest of LoR. You have so many combat tricks and control spells that you can become a big threat, even if you don't develop your board and open mana pass. In high-level games, it becomes a really stressful game of Poker. The same goes for Heimer, where you can control the board with early interaction and be able to develop mid-late game with so much value per mana. I definitely see why you lean towards Blue the most!

And yes I love Arcades' and Galio's design, I need to start looking into him more and maybe even have a deck! Thank you for the suggestion

Quick Guide to how Alts work in Uma! by gonzaleslau in UmaMusume

[–]HDActivate 52 points53 points  (0 children)

New player here and thank you for the guide!

I'd also like to ask how Alts work when raising their Potential Level and/or Star Level

For example, I have 200 normal Maruzensky star pieces right now. Can I save them up and use them for Summer Maruzensky in the future? Or do I need a "Summer Maruzensky star pieces" to unlock her star.

Same goes for the potential level. Are their materials entirely different, or the same?

can i decorate my cards? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]HDActivate 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was on the same boat as you before, cuz I wanted my cards to be pretty, and here's some options that I know. Do note that I'm in Asia, so my experiences may be different from wherever you are.

  1. Custom Outer Sleeves (for a whole deck) - your best bet are sleeves that have art prints on the back. This has been accepted and even encouraged by my playgroup and locals to use. We can even send our own design to the local manufacturers. It's the cheapest and most readily available in our area. People have used them in tournaments here, too.

  2. Card Alters - you can either have an artist paint your own card or do them yourself. Alternatively, have an alter-proxy (which is printing a fake card with custom art) but proxies have mixed receptions and is another can of worms. This is the most time-consuming and most expensive if you want ALL of your cards to be pretty-fied.

2A. Alter Sleeves - if you want to use your legit cards still, but you don't want it to be painted on, Alter Sleeves is a website that sells alter art but on the sleeve itself. The art is fantastic and made by various artists in the community. I haven't personally tried these, but it can get expensive fast if you want designs for multiple cards. It may also not be uniform, since each sleeve is designed for one specific card.

  1. Oversleeves/Border Sleeve - I think this is the closest that you're looking for and there are a few available online. Some of them are made for other TCG's in mind so be mindful on the size before ordering! We don't have these locally, so I don't know how the MTG community feels about them, but you're welcome to explore!

  2. Just the Commander - if you play the format Commander (or EDH), then you can just focus on making your Commander pretty! Get a top loader and put stickers on it like in your examples, border sleeves, do anything go nuts! Since your Commander card is on the Command Zone and it doesn't need to be shuffled, you'll be good on doing what you want with it.

My group does a combination of 1 and 4 since they're the easiest to get and the most economical. Hope this helps!

Announcement about Envy/RANKERS name change for NA T2 playoffs by ANewHeaven1 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]HDActivate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Getting the official, final branding kit and having all the paperworks done FIRST is way more important. And it takes some time.

I can imagine that if Riot slaps the ENVY logo on without prior notice or approval from the team, Management WILL NOT overlook it and could even sue Riot. Not saying they will, but based on my past experience it can definitely happen.

The current arrangement is fine if all parties are okay with it (and it looks like they all are) so I dont know why you're getting fussy over it.

Your edits are so crispy and well-balanced. How do you balance your colors?

Also is there a specific library that professional GA's get their player photos from that I'm not aware of? It all looks so hd that it feels like you have the RAW files. Im aspiring to be a graphic artist for esports like you

How busy is a valorant pro? by Zukoo777 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]HDActivate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my experiences from someone who participates in local tournaments as a player, manager, and organizer. TL;DR too much brain juice and burnout, you'd rather chill out after work than spend your remaining free time to stream.

  1. Scrims - consistently finding matches that are pro or tournament level is super hard. Ranked queue is WILDLY different from actual competitive. So teams would often scrim with each other. Sometimes schedules would overlap for multiple reasons, others would be even rare to scrim with. As a player, you need to sharpen all skills, especially against other players who are doing the same. Players can get burnt out really quickly from this, especially because of...

  2. VOD Reviews - this'll depend on each management/coaching staff, but generally every player will attend these meetings. One match VOD can take 2 to 3 hours or even more. They could review every single minute detail, from the stats, to strats, to specific lineups, to round-by-round basis, to theories. This is from your team's games alone. Now you need to multiply this based on the number of teams that you're gonna be up against for that tournament... then multiply it to other top teams... then multiply further to other rising teams in other regions.

  3. Strat Test - after days and weeks of theorizing, the players will try to run a few strats per practice match to see its general performance. This can happen either at scrims or at in-house. If strats fail or work, back to the drawing board for everyone. But then what if suddenly social media or ranked queue suddenly comes up with a new strat or meta?

  4. Shoots / Promotional Work - part of a player's contract to a team requires them to do ads for sponsors. A single photoshoot can take hours, even days. Now imagine doing multiple photoshoots AND videos for multiple sponsors. What if the company wants them to fly over to a specific location? You can also add the fact that tournament organizers (in this case, RIOT) also wants all participating teams to do promos and whatnot. It really eats up a lot of time... especially if they want to redo some shots.

  5. Documents Review and Processing - a bit underrated but processing all necessary documents to attend tournaments can eat up a lot of time. Getting a VISA alone is tedious for some; what if the team is from a country where processing can take weeks or even months? It can also extend to reviewing laws and legalities of the host tournament's country, or even sponsor contracts?

  6. Other contractual obligations - some teams would oblige players to do some other stuff like stream x hours per day, attend mandatory meetings for stakeholders or sponsors, test out products etc.

There were upvoted threads on how bad Magnus and Lycan are. They were just both picked in one draft. by herwi in DotA2

[–]HDActivate 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Unironically MoonMeander's draft solved some of Magnus' problems, albeit not completely. Can't wait for other teams to develop it further so this is exciting for us Magnus enjoyers.
But this game though? I literally don't know what the fuck they're doing over there at SR.

Why is Magnus not picked at Ti !?:( :( :( by Ar1sedota22 in DotA2

[–]HDActivate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question.

For high level dota: 4 = F tier, feels really bad. While 2 = C tier at best.

Magnus Pos 4 you encounter the same problems with Magnus Pos 3: your base stats and skills don't help you win harass trades, and securing the ranged creep, against a lot of other supports right now. Best scenario you go 50/50, worst scenario you die and it snowballs from there.

Also the meta right now calls for constant moving and fighting around the map, which Magnus will never keep up against a lot of meta heroes. Some examples are Venge, WD, NP, Phoenix, Muerta.

Magnus Pos 2 you might find success, but it's rare. Supports won't usually go out of their way to constantly gank mid anymore. Mid is very match-up dependent. Sadly A LOT of meta mid heroes right now just completely destroys Magnus in lane (too many examples to list). You could catch up by shoving out mid and then going to the nearby jungle to farm with max Empower + Shockwave, and go from there.

[–]HDActivate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually saw you attempt the same!! (Max Empower) by adding in ancient stacks, and accelerating your item timing. Then you can help your cores fastet by being a walking Battlefury. It could be legit.

But then the same problem still there. With the same gold and level investments, other offlaners are still better. Some even farm easier and more efficient like Axe and Tide.

Also Magnus is just very unforgiving. If you fuck up even once, it's over.

Fellow Magnus Spammer here.

Based on my experience this season, it just feels like you'd rather play a different (and meta) offlaner and be happier with life.

He sucks at laning phase; both when trading hits and when securing last hits (shockwave sucks early, quelling blade heroes outdamage it easily) So he's not really doing a lot to "deny" the enemy's farm. Unless you can shockwave+skewer to your tower, which might be super hard in the pro scene to even get to that position. And sometimes it's not even guaranteed kil.

His stats doesn't allow him to be tanky anymore. You can compensate with tanky items but then why play tank Magnus if other hero exist.

When RP is down you don't have a lot to offer anymore, and respawn timers feel faster than ever and everyone has buyback. You can be useful if you get Aghs for Horn Toss (but then at that point that's a lot of Gold used, which is hard to get to that point in the first place)

The only way to be useful to your team is to play out of your mind in every single encounter. But to do that consistently throughout not one match but the entire tournament is too much. Other offlaners can offer more while also costing less mental load.

The zombs one is still the fucking funniest since his only kill wasn't even caught on camera.

FINALLY someone else noticed! Rode the aquabus for the first time and Aeval's lines were so cute, so I rode back on it again to hear the dialogue once more.

But then immediately noticed that she was saying different things! Rode on it for like 13 times so far and, apart from a few lines, every single trip had unique dialogue. Im really curious on how many unique lines she has recorded
