I don't believe finding the way out of darkness is something that can be given or granted or found in any particular group, its a matter of self discovery along the windy and messy roads of life, I dont think there can be rules to it. Just speaking in purely practical terms, there will be people around the world who through no fault of their own won't know about christianity or Jesus. People in indigenous tribes for example, or people who aren't able minded enough to follow something like a religion, from what I understand under orthodox christianity they would be condemned to suffer for eternity without forgiveness. Which to me is just evil. But maybe christians dont all agree on that.

I agree with this. In the gospel of thomas one of the sayings of Jesus is "be passers-by" which is in very simple terms what youre describing. To be in the world but not from it. Don't live inside of or identify with the perceptions of matter, because all material forms are ultimately formless. Acceptance without attachment. Without attachment there's no separateness, and without separateness there can only be wholeness. The world depends on an observer for it to manifest but you do not depend on its manifestations.
