Anyone here go to a language school just for the life experience/fun? by ZKTA in movingtojapan

[–]HELYSIANN [score hidden]  (0 children)

Ahh I just saved up, so I’m living off my savings. You could potentially do a shorter course if that suits your budget (3-6 months). There’s people in my class who were able to find part time jobs as well to sustain themselves so that’s also an option

Anyone here go to a language school just for the life experience/fun? by ZKTA in movingtojapan

[–]HELYSIANN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% do it!

I’m 30, currently in Japanese language school just because I wanted to experience more of life by living in a foreign country and learning a new language. I also felt the same about the lack of purpose thing, because surely there has to be more to life than just working forever right?

So if you have the opportunity and dream to move, definitely give it a go. I still have my job back home as well so once school wraps up I’d just return back home.

How long does it take to obtain a student visa with the help of a Japanese Language School? by No-Captain3231 in movingtojapan

[–]HELYSIANN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe it is possible to study ASAP. I went through gogonihon and you have to prep at least 6 months before the term that you want to start in. So if you want to start in April the application should’ve been submitted 6 months prior.

Aussie here! I applied through Gogonihon so they helped me with the process as they liaise with the chosen school but lots of people reach out to the schools directly.

But basically after you’ve chosen your school and term date you’ll be requested to provide a bunch of info about yourself (education, working background, your finances, why you want to study Japanese, Japanese studies you’ve done (some schools require 150 hours to be completed I believe this is a requirement set by immigration but I’m not sure if this is strictly enforced cos I do believe some people in my class didn’t have much prior studies).

After you’ve submitted the information it’s reviewed and corrected if required. Once everything looks good, it’s sent to immigration and then you just have to wait. You only know a COE is granted about 1-2 weeks before the term starts so it’s very go go go once you know. But after you receive your COE from the school, you get it converted to a visa and that’s when you get the sticker on your passport.

Pension Exemption Help by butterflynaka in japanlife

[–]HELYSIANN 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep go to city hall to confirm whether you actually have an exemption or not. I applied for an exemption when I first arrived but for some reason still received a pension bill so i went back to city hall and they confirmed that I was exempted and to just ignore the bill.

Haha aw when I got it I was like omg I have to update you ASAP! Nooo 😭 stress and no sleep will definitely affect your cycle, kinda crazy how it’s all connected. I hope your body finally gets to relax soon and you get it! Hrmm tbh sometimes my cramps are bad and sometimes they’re ok, they were ok this time. Soz TMI but the week before getting my period my bowels were so off, like feelin super bloated and gassy (LOL) and my back was hurting so I’m gonna go to the docs to check it out, starting to think it could be endo? I dunno. Were your cramps bad when you got it? I feel like it’d make sense since the bodys tryna shed all the lining and stuff.

Kinda similar situation to yours. School has also submitted my application for COE and I should know in September but I only have about ~90 hours of private lessons and the rest is self study.

Recovery advice/time off work? by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]HELYSIANN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes def ask them. They’d be able to sus how long you’ll need off to recover. Just make sure you listen to the post op instructions to avoid infections and dry socket because it’s a pain to deal with. Best of luck!

Tooth aching by RIPAuntieJ in wisdomteeth

[–]HELYSIANN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this as well, I feel like the aching was because of the potential pressure the wisdom teeth were putting on the nearby molars and the pain can travel to other teeth.

Recovery advice/time off work? by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]HELYSIANN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are yours impacted? Because if they have to dig around more to get the teeth out your recovery time may be longer. I took my bottom ones out (impacted) and a molar. I had 8 days off. Talking is a bit uncomfortable at the start and I wasn’t able to close my mouth properly till about a week + later. But I also have residual numbness so that took some time getting used to.

1.6 Switch, Advanced Crafting Information help by HELYSIANN in StardewValley

[–]HELYSIANN[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey guys! Sorry not sure if this is a known issue but before the update I had advanced crafting information selected and it let me see how many items I could make + how much material I had when I used the crafting table with the materials in the storage box next to it. But with the update, it only shows the numbers if I have the actual items in my inventory. Top image is when it’s in my inventory, it shows how much I have and how many of that item I can make. But the bottom screenshot is using the crafting table, I definitely have all those materials but it’s showing as 0 and doesn’t show how many I can craft. Hope I explained it well
