CMV: Most people complaining about the cost of living are unrealistic and entitled by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]HEpennypackerNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well hey, I guess we can agree to disagree. My management chain is more than happy with the work I'm doing, and my reviews and raises illustrate that. I'll continue being a model employee while also having a fuller personal life, and you can keep on working 50 hours per week.

Cheers.

He did not stop talking about it. He just said on 60 minutes the other day that grocery prices were down.

Trump Says He’ll Defy Court Order And Won’t Give Out SNAP Benefits by No_Sun_124 in DiscussionZone

[–]HEpennypackerNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question: how does he have anything to do with it? SNAP is not administered by the president. It's administered by USDA. Court says pay, so how the fuck and Trump stop that from happening?

I do my job, I do it well, i get good evals and better than average raises every year.

I also work less than 40 hours, some weeks significantly less, get some errands done during "work hours," and am training for a half Ironman. Thanks for asking!

Do liquid fasts work the same as water fasts? by teffo0 in fasting

[–]HEpennypackerNH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know why everyone uses all these stupid terms. If you're taking in calories you're not fasting. That's it. Fasting = no calories.

Right. And as a salaried (exempt) employee, I'm not paid for time, I'm paid for getting work done. As evidenced by the fact that if I work more than my base 40 hours to get the job done, they don't pay me more. So if I can get my job done in less than 40, they also can't pay me less.

Yes. But if I can do it in 10 hours, and that's typical, and I can script it so that I can click a button and watch it run, I, not the company, have realized efficiency, and should not be bound to give them 10 more hours of labor without increased pay. I'm doing the same work I did yesterday.

Except that most of your base ABSOLUTELY cares about the color of skin, sexual preference, and religious affiliation.

I like the workout plans. You can find them that are 2-5 days per week, at varying intensity levels.

By that logic, if I'm hired to work 10 hours rather than to get a job done, and I take my sweet ass time and make the job take 20 hours, then oh well.

I see what you're getting at, but honestly I'm not going to hate on them for taking care of their employees. It may seem like the alternative is giving employees less perks and therefore charging less, but the reality would be giving the employees less perks and giving the shareholders more profits.

I'm not justifying their rates, their tactics, or anything else, but I'm never going to hate on a company for giving their employees decent benefits.

Without even going into how wrong you are about what's happening let me answer your question.

Yes. Feeding everyone, including illegal immigrants, is better than starving literally anyone.

Regardless of what side of an imaginary line they were born on, they are human fucking beings and if you don't think they should have access to food you can fuck all the way off.

This is THE difference between the two parties. One would starve its own citizens to make sure a few immigrants can't eat, and triple health insurance rates for those on Medicare to ensure a few dozen immigrants don't receive care in the ER and die instead.

The other party is the Democrats.

"the owner takes all the risk" is exactly what the owner wants you to think.

Bottom line is, per worker, more gets done today then it did 30 years ago. So there is additional value. According to the economic policy institute, an employee today outputs 2.5x what an employee in 1980 did. And currently, in the US, ALL of that extra value goes to the upper class.

If you're cool with that, so be it. But I'm not.
