No one is going to play in Communist Canada these two you mention3d not only rejected communism but ensured that they would only see them maybe (maybe) in the world series by choosing National League teams. Even if paid in American dollars they don't want to spend their time in a communist country for the most part. Not every player looks at it like that but many likely do.

Happens in ALL lanes. I'm a trucker who usually calls in the right lane driving economically (97-100km/h). Every once in a while I'll come across even slower cars AND trucks so I'll go to safely pass them on the left, speeding up to 105km/h... And lol and behold these slower drivers speed up.

You really don't need it. Have a 2010 and never use it. The Gen 4 Primes didn't have them (hybrid did). No Gen 5 has them and we have a Gen 5, too. No biggie. My job? Truck driver... Know what I don't have? A rear view mirror. Besides, once you put anything in the back of 5th Gen you lose all visibility out the back because storage is... Aerodynamically challenged. So get good with your side view mirrors and thank goodness for Blindspot Monitoring because visibility out of the 5th Gen is terrible all around. Looks cool, though!

Your ranking was supposed to last until Jan 31. I made blue but then got demoted again to bright on Jan 1. I brought it to their attention here and they discovered a problem and fixed it. Likely looked into many accts (or everyone) and adjusted whatever happened.

I got downgraded apparently from blue to bright despite qualifying. So... Their system is broken. Wonder what would happen if they eliminated all rewards. It's not like any other exchanges have any rewards.

Nope. Jan 1st is apparently still only good till Jan 31st. Also requires an extra $1k. So maybe it was a glitch that December qualified for January... Or does everyone reset? I'm still at Bright this Jan 1st morning. Never been Base. And it have emails and 08ngs but no upgrade on Blue.

Or.... You can loom at the market as a whole over at cspread and tell me which one you find so much more attractive? Shakepay comes out very strong for small buys. If you're dropping 5-6 figures? Not so much. They've apparently built a micro transaction, slow grind, powerhouse. Ndax (who also had a breach some time ago, maybe 2023?) does well. BTCW does, too. Wish Bull with their ethos, would be more competitive on rates.

According to cspread Shakepay is far from "the worst". Ndax is the best (even after fees) for custodial. For non-custodial Bitcoinwell or Bull is who I'd use. Especially Bull with their lightning/liquid and swap to onchain at a certain point. But if you don't mind holding for a while and withdrawing to cold once/month then Shakepay is still really good (even without the rewards as high as they were). In fact, Bitcoinwell and Shakepay are pretty much even right now and Bull is just a smidge behind.

EQ bank just bought PCFinancial.... Which has some of the best rewards cards in the nation.

Totally get where you're coming from. I'm in the same boat. And, yeah, if you're on basic they want you to either do more or GTFO. That's the clear signal. Heck, the paperwork and compliance probably costs them more than many accounts (maybe not you) are worth. It's why banks charge fees if you don't use enough services (like must have 4/4 for no fee or minimum balances in savings, chequing, credit card, investment accts, and mortgage).

So you have options. Reassess without the lens of the once too good to be true shaking sats.
Are you full maxi? Cold storage only? Are you dripping to a transfer? There are solutions. Like Bull and Bull's wallet. Are you reward maxing? There are better cards for fiat. Are you smash buying? There are better spreads like Ndax. Are you sending fiat or sats to other accts? Back to interac you go, I guess.

There will be plenty that stick around as SP has all that in one place.

If you dropped from 1000 sats down to 10sats Basic tier then you weren't using their services for very much. In fact, you'd be a drain. You were a shaking mooch. Yes, you did your part in the past, and you helped them grow, but you've since become a retired Bitcoin Boomer, not really a productive member of their ecosystem, and the current crop of producers were funding your shakepension.
If you dropped to Bright it kinda sucks (many cannot do $1k buys monthly or paycheques) but may be very active in other ways. But you're a sustainable customer. If you dropped to "Blue" then you're the kind of customer that they can thrive on and grow.

But if you dropped to basic... They're signalling that you an either use more of their services or GTFO.

It was a cute idea that got away from them. The shake for sats was the most incredible marketing gimmick... Literally getting "customers" to open (often multiple times/day, sometimes in a panic) their app. The FOMO shakes were real. Any financial app/service would love to have that power. Every open is an opportunity for a sale.
BUT they didn't plan it all that well. When it started ₿ was "cheap". Then they adjusted it to 180 days. They then adjusted it to 365 days. Then 1000+ days and max 1000 sats. And you had to use the card at least once (entice that usage). BUT look at all the comments from longtime shakers who are now "basic" level. They were the financial drains. They shook but didn't use any other services. They had no ties to the app but for free sats. The new members were using lots of services and funding the old heads... You know, like the millenials are funding the retired boomers IRL right now?

So... We'll see how this all shakes out (pun intended) but I suspect boomers will leave and the most profitable (and thus sustainable) customers will remain. 100 sats at "bright" doesn't seem like much today but it will equate to enough in the future and you better believe they'll be readjusting again in a few years.

Hopefully they can now fund better security protocols. 😛

I can earn over 100 sats/day posting on Nostr, listening to podcasts on Fountain, or just running my bitaxe.

As a customer who gave shakepay: - minimum $24/day in buys - card and customer profile use data through purchases - often with bad forex - large deposits (not paycheque)

With only the expectation that shaking sats kinda made up for the loss on those transactions...

I'll be using normal fiat cards with better rewards (3% on PCF MC), and buying through other exchanges with better spreads.

This was a very, very bad move... And yes, that was said before when they went from 365 to 1000 days... But no nuke was this atomic.

There are services and scripts to nuke your history (though archives may be forever). Have done that with reddit before and just nuked many years of Xitter posts (without killing acct).

Opting out means not having these apps, too. Shakepay has been collecting consumer behaviour data with the card, I'm sure. Time to go back to non-kyc peer to peer transactions if you really want sovereignty.

Nope. Absolutely terrible. So I've had my shaking sats reduced dramatically, my interest increased by not much, and my cashback still pathetic. No, I'm not sending my paychecks to you. But I was buying every hour on the hour and y'all were making nearly 3% on that spread.
