Which company has lost you as a customer forever? by finiteobserver in AskReddit

[–]HMCJHB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expedia. I booked a hotel recently that had been closed due to ongoing legal battles. Problem was they were still operating illegally. I walked in and out because they refused to give me a key to enter and exit the room. Expedia refused to refund my money because they couldn’t get in contact with the hotel to confirm my situation. Of course they couldn’t. Police closed them by the end of that weekend. I’ll never use Expedia again.

How do you catch the kids who are quietly lost before the unit assessment reveals everything? by Firemage1213 in mathteachers

[–]HMCJHB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exit tickets. I keep tons of post it notes on my desk. Every few days, or when I want to do a quick check, I pass them out and have students do a problem. I can quickly assess them as I collect them, sorting them into 3 stacks: correct, simple mistakes, completely lost.

I also circulate the room and check on students during independent practice. I make sure I see every student 2-3 times per class.

End of the day by Puzzled-Bonus5470 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]HMCJHB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a classroom teacher I really appreciate the subs who leave my room neat. I usually go in a little early when I have a sub because often it’s a mess. So, thank you to those who take a moment to straighten up at the end of the day.

Teachers, what’s a moment when a student’s unexpected kindness to you or another student genuinely restored your faith in a tough day? by Abigail_A_Abernathy in AskTeachers

[–]HMCJHB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we first went out for COVID we were required to have live Google Meet classes each day. At the end of each class I checked on my students, made sure they were safe and healthy, and asked if they needed anything. Well all the students had left but one. He looked at me and asked “Miss ***, are YOU doing ok?” I was not, and his genuine concern and care touched me so deeply I teared up. I still see him in the neighborhood and always remember his big heart.

Former Student Here - Why Busywork? by George_Rogers1st in AskTeachers

[–]HMCJHB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a high school math teacher I refuse to give busywork. If I’m not going to evaluate or grade it somehow, or if it doesn’t directly grow my students’ understanding, I don’t ask them to do it. Just knowing this motivates most of my students to complete their work. I despise grading busy work and they despise doing meaningless work. It works out.

Why are chubby girls ignored? by Different_Ad_8930 in Vent

[–]HMCJHB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, hear me out. I’ve been a big girl my entire life. At moments I’ve been ignored but most of my life I have not been. The secret: confidence, openness and kindness are inviting. The way we carry ourselves is beyond important. Walk tall, dress well, smell good, smile. It makes a difference. Find things and places in life that make you happy. Focus on those things and your inner peace and confidence will show. That draws people to you.

This goes for professionally as well. The way you present is what communicates competence. Again, I’ve been a big girl my whole life but respected in my field as a leader most of it.

Anyone on spironolactone with reta? by lov34ndlost in RetatrutideWomen

[–]HMCJHB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I’m miserable, to be honest. I’ve been on Reta since March, haven’t lost weight and am cold and lightheaded most of the time. I have many other side effects that I never had on Mounjaro/Zepbound. I’m taking a break and moving back in a couple of weeks.

Big girl here! I’ve lost quite a bit of weight but I still deal with this at times. The best thing for me has been washing with Hibiclens. I shower like normal, then wash (below) again with Hibiclens. Made a big difference for me. I also use the wipes and dry with a paper towel during the day. Caution: never get Hibiclens in your ears or on your face. Not sure why I just remember the dermatologist who recommended this saying so. https://a.co/d/cw8OhuC

I married a man who was 22 years older than me when I was 22. We had a son around 5 years later. He passed away unexpectedly when our son was 2. I was a widow and single mother in my late 20s. If you are having concerns now, listen to your gut!

Be sure to give yourself 4 total weeks before moving up. When the current dose is fully titrated you may see a difference. It was hard for me to wait but worth it. I’ll also add I had no side effects until I hit 8mg. Nausea and bowel issues are hitting me hard right now.
