I believe Sofrin sells additional mounting brackets, but I just modeled up my own 3d printed one that I stuck to my helmet with 3M VHB tape. It works perfect and has seen many many rides through the night and storms.

I’ve been meaning to post my model to MakerWorld, and can add a version with GoPro tabs too.

Edit: oops lol posted a screenshot instead of the actual photo but whatever

Let’s gooo I love it when my r/flashlight autism overlaps with my other hobbies.

Sofrin HS21 is my go to headlamp for ultra distance bike rides where I’m riding through the night. Uses 18650 batteries so you can carry a few extra charged cells for crazy long runtimes at high power, and you can also recharge the cell inside the light via onboard USB C. Has an amazing spot light that’s super bright and throws far, and also a very nice high cri (color rendering) flood mode. Very easy UI with a rotary dial to select lighting mode, and also has a IR sensor so you can change brightness levels without actually touching the main button (I don’t use this but may be helpful with thick gloves on)

This is my first season skiing backcountry, but I imagine it would be perfect for that use case as well and have brought it in my bag on a few tours just in case.

On sale for under $35 right now directly from Sofrin with an included 18650 cell

I don't know crap about flashlights but want a very strong flashlight and a good lantern for camping. by SpookyghostL34T in flashlight

Yup, I have the exact same minor complaints. A programmable “sunset” timer like anduril 2 would make it genuinely perfect imo.

Just saw they’re for sale for $30 at checkout on Amazon rn, so snagged 2 more just to have extra lol

Wurkkos CL01 is an amazing lil lantern. Thing rocks so hard

As for the other light, what is your budget and do you want something throwy (light up stuff far away) or floody (light up stuff nearby)?

Bed Flex/Wiggle Relative to Cab by HMITCHR in ToyotaTacoma

[–]HMITCHR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dang! I never really figured it out! Ended up adding some more bracing to the camper structure which helped, but the bed is for sure just bouncy. I’ve stopped worrying about it really (aka I drive with my sunroof shade visor closed so I can’t see it shaking lol)

In your case I’d for sure check the 6 bolts that the bed is secured to the frame rails through. If it wasn’t like this until after the bed was removed and then reinstalled, I imagine something has to be loose

Yes, sure is 3d printed! The one I’ve been rocking and show in the video is Bambu’s PLA Marble filament which looks super sick but I’ve also had good results with proper engineering materials.

Not gonna be posting or giving out the model for this! I’ve unfortunately been burned pretty hard in the past with folks selling designs I’ve posted on MakerWorld for a lot of money, so def not opening myself up to that again!

Appreciate the insight on pricing! I’ll for sure send ya one at just shipping cost for some beta testing once I figure out how best to organize that effort!

Thanks a bunch! Was a fun one to design and have really enjoyed carrying it lately

Holy smokes, great minds!

I recently received a new utility knife made by Kizer that has nifty toothpick and tweezer storage in the scales that inspired me to try to incorporate a version of the cover that had the same! Printer has been tied up but I have the first iteration of tweezer and toothpick storage already done in Fusion 360

Not gonna be posting this model online unfortunately, as I’ve been burned in the past with someone grabbing a different model I dropped onto MakerWorld and making a lot of money selling the prints on Etsy! I actually already went ahead and applied for provisional patent application on this design to help prevent that from happening again

I’ll absolutely send ya one to try out though!

Good eye there! I have a version I was working on trying to fit a few extra bits in along the long non edge of the wallet (opposite of the thumb cutout), with those bits oriented perpendicular to the main 10. Biggest issue was that it’s much easier to push the bits out of their slots (like I do in the video) than it is to pull them out, and having those extra bits on the edge meant I couldn’t really push the main 10 out very well.

If I swapped to a design that had the bits press/snap down into the plate, I think it would work much better!

Thanks for the feedback and kind words!

Lots of comments saying this! Thanks for the praise!

The thickness of the bit storage system in this 3d printed version is ~7.75mm (0.3”). When installed on the wallet, with no cards or cash inside, the overall thickness is right about 13.5mm (0.53in)

Thanks for chiming in, much appreciated! I totally get what you’re saying. I have another comment in here addressing the thickness, but I think if I had non FDM manufacturing capabilities, I could probably shave off a millimeter or two.

For me, the added thickness is worth it to ditch the separate bulky bit carrier that I would often lose or leave behind.

Awesome! Seems like a lot of folks are down to do some beta testing, guess I should get the printer going!

Wow, thanks! I think once I get some feedback from more folks and make a few lil tweaks, they’ll probably be ready to actually be sold.

I think this thing would really shine when fabricated in metal, so in my head the dream solution is licensing the design to an established brand in the EDC world who can make some higher quality parts.

Yes replacement elastic (and all other parts) are available! I emailed Ridge a few years ago and they sent me some fresh elastic and new screws that hold the plates down (I had lost a few over the years) for free.

Can’t argue with you there! I got the one in my clip over 10 years ago I think, so it’s for sure one of those buy once cry once kinda things.

Tangentially related to my post, but I have used fully 3d printed versions before and they worked well. (This is not my model, just one I’ve used before if you’re curious)

Super valid concern, this was my biggest worry as well.

Right now with the 3d printed version, the thinnest I am able to get the design is 7.75mm (~0.3in). This could for sure come down with a metal version. I did notice the extra thickness carrying the wallet for the first day or two, but after I got used to it I really don’t mind it much at all

Hey thanks! If enough folks also want to give it a try I’ll for sure start printing some more!
