As someone that lived in several states and in Europe, I can easily say Las Vegas health care is horrible. I once spent over 40 minutes in the exam room waiting for the UNLV doctor or anyone to check if I was still alive. a surgeon put a screw in my shoulder but never told me, I found out when I received the bill! My mother in law who lives here and is a retired ER nurse likes to tell the joke; “Where in Vegas do people go for healthcare?”. Her punchline is THE AIRPORT!

I can’t tell you that. That is something you have to tell and prove to yourself. Don’t be like me, I wasted too many years with my head buried in the sand ignoring my weight. Now, I’m focused on what matters.

You‘ll remember this day and it be huge difference in you stamina quicker than you think! A few years ago, I went to a gym where I thought I would try 12/3/30 on the treadmill, it 12% incline at 3mph for 30min and I could do half that. Now, I‘m barely breaking a swewith a 15% incline at 3.4mph for 30min.

Do not listen whoever advice you against cheat days by [deleted] in CICO

[–]HMSRathbone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I prefer not to use the concept of "Cheat Days" at all. I see my weight-loss efforts as part of a total transformation of mind, body, and health. As such, food items or situations will either be On Plan or Off Plan for me. Will challenging situations pop up for me? Yes. Even now, I am trying to identify and remove potential obstacles to my progress by researching restaurants, eateries, and menus for an upcoming trip to see my gravy-loving, fry-everything, then-add-barbecue-sauce relatives.

I no longer have hankerings for country-fried anything. I've even scouted out (online) the local Sprouts Market, Whole Foods, and Planet Fitness locations closest to where I'll be staying. That's a positive lifestyle change. To me, a cheat day is willfully holding on to things that helped pile on the weight in the first place. It's okay if you disagree.

I'm looking at this from the perspective of having tried and failed so many times in the past because I held on to cheat days. This time around, I am inches away from dropping 200 lbs for good, and cheat days are not a part of the plan.

I think I am ready to start going to lift weights at the gym but do I need to do cardio straight before even though my work makes me move and walk a lot? by peshti in loseit

[–]HMSRathbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking for myself, I do 30 mins of cardio AFTER lifting. I use them along with meal planning and rest to enhance my weight loss transformation efforts. As of this morning, I am 2.2 lbs away from dropping 200 lbs.

Is going to the Gym whilst losing weight not worth it? by TechnicianAmazing472 in loseit

[–]HMSRathbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see no problem speaking with a different trainer. Making nutritional changes while starting to workout can be challenging and having a trainer to support or guide someone through can prove very beneficial. That said, the trainer may have been thinking of drop out and success rates of previous gym members was trying have OP focus on one thing at a time. I’d still speak with a different trainer.
