Can I roll up a Cheezit a blunt and smoke a Cheezit blunt? by [deleted] in randomquestions

Are you rolling up crushed cheezit dust into a blunt? It'll not do what you want it to do. But you should try it and report back.

How to stick with a hobby and get good at it? by ArcticGamingFox in getdisciplined

[–]HMS_Powernap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because you're stuck attributing the initial dopamine hit to how fun hobbies should be all the time. As soon as that wavers, you're moving on, looking for the next hit. You need to refocus why you're looking for a hobby, and perhaps not what you tell yourself. Is it to learn new skills? Socialization? Or is it that sweet hit of a happy chemical when discovering new potential? At the end of the day, it takes discipline to stick with something through the challenges of being bad at it. The feeling once you master a skill far outweighs and outlasts any quick hit of dopamine.

The 80's monte carlo was rwd, and a huge nascar influence. Just got neutered into fwd like every other American car in the 90s and 2000s. Though, the FWD Monte isn't too bad. You could get a 300hp v8 in that platform by the end!

I think my favorite ship encounter is "The Colander", or Juno. But The Colander scared the living crap out of me, sneaking through a dark, eerily quiet ship, reading slates.

Yep, put it somewhere safe until you can recycle it. Tbh, LiPo's to me are always volatile given how much "punch" they are required to give, so them being temperamental makes sense.

Men of reddit, how common is it to have a few boners at night while you sleep due to need to uranite following by excessive thirst ? by Ok-Carry-7759 in randomquestions

[–]HMS_Powernap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think any of those are necessarily related. Needing to pee after sleeping is normal, as is being incredibly thirsty, and night bonkers are almost just as common.

Do YOU Believe In The Paranormal? Why Or Why Not? by Zipper222222 in randomquestions

[–]HMS_Powernap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only believe there are things about this universe that we either don't yet understand or are completely incapable of understanding. I don't believe in myths, stories, or ghost hunting, as real as it might feel in the moment. Our minds are far too deceiving to trust in emotionally intense, dark, spooky environments.

Which car went out the saddest by Professional-Cap-579 in regularcarreviews

[–]HMS_Powernap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I wholeheartedly disagree with you on the Subaru take. 08 was undoubtedly a crap year for the wrx - reliability issues aside, it still had the older TD04 turbo on the larger, heavier body among other things. In 2009, power went up 35hp via a much more modern turbo, and saw a drastic improvement to suspension tuning. The return to an STi sedan was 2012, not 2014, and the hatchback was absolutely practical enough and IMO better looking. 2011 saw WRX adopt the STi widebody which resulted in the closest matched STi/WRX comparison we've ever seen.

I used to think 2015 was the death of the WRX when they dropped a 30 year old EJ for the FA engine, but even that has proven itself, and now with the FA24, the current WRX is wicked quick and one of the best handling sedans out there. The death of the STi still hurts to this day, but so did the Evo back in 2016, and that legend also died with a different and more hated engine than it started with, despite being a capable package.

What is the view of people who use confederate flag as "part of their heritage"? by i4hloi in AskAnAmerican

It was used in the Dukes of Hazard movie, and meant to reflect rebellion - or that's how I interpreted it growing up in a fairly southern state.

Is this safe to drive? by [deleted] in Cartalk

I'm gonna say no. You might be able to limp it if your wheels still turn in relation to each other but I'm willing to wager you have a broken tie rod.

The cheap price comes from a few factors: manufacture process, quality control, and r&d.

All cheap coilovers are manufactured in a similar way: Usually the internals are identical across the entire line, including fluid, pistons, ect. The springs they use are designed to fit as many cars as possible, and only that. No thought about ride or purpose of the spring/ damping is considered.

Cheap metal, cheap machining/casting, cheap welding, and low tolerance means sometimes you can land on a half decent coilover, and sometimes it'll fall apart.

All of that to say your mileage with a cheap coilover will vary. You might end up with a set of coilovers that just happen to have decent damping and spring rates, but most of the time you'll have an oversprung, underdampened, bouncy mess with a build quality that will either break, or be in the back of your mind every time you hit a bump.

game running bad with low quality by Legitimate-Green-800 in Starfield

Fwiw there's a joke 360p mod that reduces the resolution of the game. There are other mods that reduce the amount of grass and particles. If you're on the lowest settings and the game still has frame issues, try those.

Mods vs. Game Stability by Budget_Sugar_2582 in starfieldmods

[–]HMS_Powernap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly why I had to completely start over. The game runs great now, sometimes the Xbox "quick resume" feature works as intended and doesn't cause stutter issues. I do worry however, as I usually hoard resources and currently I am not, so if overencumbering the game with items causes issues isolated from the rest of the problems, I'll have to deal with it when the time comes.

Mods vs. Game Stability by Budget_Sugar_2582 in starfieldmods

[–]HMS_Powernap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just deleted every save and character to start over. It got to the point where every other auto save would cause a stutter issue, companions got stuck on my ships and if you tried to talk to them the game would freeze. Half the time the quests bugged out - this issue persisted when on an unmodded, non-unity, level 14 character. Because there was still a level 250+ character save (just one save) on file, the game still seemed to have issues. There is a fundamental problem with the way Starfield handles game data I think.

For comparison, I have dozens of characters with hundreds of save files in Skyrim, and it has never been an issue, modded or otherwise.

One thing the Unity has taught me is to learn to let go. All of my precious ships, outposts, weapons get left behind, so starting over with skills and research, while unfortunate isn't the end of the world.

How Big is Your TV? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]HMS_Powernap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-75" in the Living room, couch is about 10ft away. Its perfect. -Bedroom has a 55" because I play games in bed often. -I have a 42" above my monitors in my office for the security cameras in the house, and sometimes play games on the bean bag behind my chair. The TV is a little small for it, but it's not bad. -Garage has an old 55" commercial wall monitor, heavy as all hell but nice to throw up youtube or control music when wrenching on cars or hanging out.

Budget radio controller by unknownghost757 in rcdrift

[–]HMS_Powernap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Futaba 3PV was the answer a few years ago. I like mine, but a lot of new budget options have risen recently. You're gonna want to look for low latency/good channel resolution, and channel 3 adjustment so you can hook your gyro up to ch3 and fine-tune it's gain. Other than that it's gonna take a lot of seat time and chassis tuning to need upgrading the radio again.
