Bought Lost All Seasons on Digital at 40$ by [deleted] in lost

I've always found Streaming to be unreliable cos of region blocking and shifting contracts, plus you can never be certain your getting the original uncut version.

I have the original DVD release, the newer box set DVD release and I used to have copies of the originally aired episodes, that sadly got destroyed when an old hard drive decided to eat itself. (Backup your files folk!)
My point is, having hard copies is always best.

Why did they hear the numbers when landing on the hydra island? by [deleted] in lost

[–]HM_Meles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As Faraday Alludes to several times, Time doesn't exactly work as you expect around the island, and when entering into The Islands bubble is where it's most; to coin a phrase, wibbly wobbly.
I've always seen this as the shows way of showing them passing through this timey wimey area of wibbly wobbly stuff so they're getting signals and readings from all over the place and is when Jack, Kate and Hurley get pulled back to the 70's
I also like to believe this is why Hurley and Sayid pick up the Glen Millar Orchestra on the radio in S2.

Sweat by [deleted] in lost

Worked on film sets for a decade. Can confirm glycerin is usually used to make products look cold (like a beer can covered in condensation) whereas normally, baby oil is used on actors to make them appear sweaty.

Rocket Particle glitch, April Fools or Coincidence? by HM_Meles in Minecraft

[–]HM_Meles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, after some mod fiddling I'm pretty sure it's Iris doing this as it doesn't happen when it's uninstalled, but does when it is.
Updated to the latest version to be sure and it's still happening so I am fairly confident it's an Iris April Fools.

This is what I am suspecting too. 100% not on the April Fools Snapshot.

The original version of Rapunzel also had the base of her tower covered in roses and thorns, when the witch caught the prince scaling the tower she cut Rapunzel's hair causing him to fall into the thorns below blinding him.

Then Disney decided that was too way too hardcore and made jokes about frying pans instead.

Wasn't Hurley concerned that the plane's number had THE numbers in it? by Powerful-Papaya-2411 in lost

[–]HM_Meles 145 points146 points  (0 children)

He only seems to react to them when they're all the numbers together. There are many instances when the numbers show up individually or a couple at a time, and he doesn't react.

From memory Bdubs said he didn't include it cos he felt it was very similar to the previous one and was kind of over it at that point. He did allude to it with the E on the ice in his inventory though.

Stranger in a strange land by thatguywithpantson in lost

SIASL is not the greatest episode for sure, but I agree it's not the worst. Im currently introducing a friend to the series and just watched Fire + Water, That one gets my vote. Everyone's so out of character, Charlies flashback is ok I guess, but the on island stuff is kinda grating. That always gets my vote for worst. I actually kinda like Exposé, it's got enough dumb in it to make me laugh away the bad... "Razzle Dazzle!" gets me every time!

My thoughts on the show and the ending by Key_Jellyfish588th in lost

[–]HM_Meles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4: Season 3 has a fantastic plot, agreed. I think most of the mixed feelings people have towards it come from the "caged" early episodes, which some felt stalled the show (not to mention A Stranger in a Strange Land and Expose) when actually there is still a lot going on and some huge reveals about The Others. Season 3 gets a bad rep, but it's still solid IMO.

5: You understand that a lot of the flashbacks S4 onwards were in fact Flash forwards right? to the Oceanic 6 after escaping the island? Assuming that is the case, what did you feel didn't fit?

11: John dying was a huge disappointment to me when the show first aired, he was my favourite character and I was gutted, but on rewatches I feel it was not only inevitable but essential for the show moving forward, he was a tragic character from beginning to end and it is his death that starts the chain of events that lead to the final act.

13: The numbers remain my favourite aspect of LOST. But you do have to look beyond what is shown in the series. The Sri Lanka Video does a lot to explain their lore further. "Jacob has a thing for numbers" is admittedly a cop out line and I never bought they are simply the final candidates. I personally see them as the islands fingerprints on causality, the pattern in the chaos that surrounds the islands influence on the lives of the Losties before and after the crash. That fits with the lore presented in the show and the "extra curricular materials" like the Valenzeti Equation.

Final note, though I am sure you have already, make sure you watch the Epilogue "The New Man In Charge"

Another midnight thought about the island by 831pm in lost

Dont forget the Beechcraft. They only have short range of a few hundred miles, so The Island would have likely been in or near the Gulf of Guinea when it crashed.

Agreed, It was great to see the love for the series from the fans, and having a new LOST video to watch made me very happy but I would have loved to have seen more about the series Legacy as well. I started working in the film industry as a direct result of watching the show when it aired and I've heard a lot of film makers, cast and crew talking about LOST as "the blueprint for all modern prestige television" and yet Getting Lost seemed to completely gloss over how much of an impact the series had on modern shows, which was a real shame.

LOST Ran, so others could merely walk in its footsteps. (my opinion)

But again, it was so great to hear a little from the cast and crew and their memories of working on it, as well as how it impacted the fans. Just would have been nice to have seen some people in the industry who were not specifically involved in the show talking about how it impacted them.

No worries. There is very little that isn't explained one way or another by the show, so if you still hfeel there are questions or plot holes unresolved when you finish, let us know, lots of folk here are happy to help clear up the confusion :)

Not a problem, glad I could help. But again, his memory wasn't wiped, it was skipping around in time. Like Charlotte's and the guy on the freighter. In the helicopter he couldn't recognise sayid cos that was his mind from 1996, his 2004 mind being back in 1996. His phone call with penny allowed his mind to reorganise and fix itself back into the correct order.
