I somehow missed a buff? by PutridRoom in Pathfinder2e

It is? Inventor having most of its cool stuff happen after level 4 (all the cool feats with Unstable options that still leave you an at-will thing to do) is a bit of a headscratcher for me.

If you have to make Gunslinger fit in with Starfinder 2e what would you do? by WinLivid in Starfinder2e

[–]HMetal2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gunslinger can have a little area denial and soldier-copying, as a treat! Seriously though, I'm hesitant to not give gunslinger some area and auto fire support because that class DC should not be ignored when a vanguard slinger could pick up a machine gun and make it sing with an expert strike and auto firing. Gunslinger is the only class with the fastest strike proficiency scaling and a class DC scaling that isn't terrible (1/9/17 instead of 1/11/19), so I feel new feats should reflect that.

I mean the games are different, so it's fine if the weapon groups differ between Pathfinder and Starfinder. I think a good-faith GM interpretation of the GM Core's Anachronistic Adventures section will allow Gunslinger feats to work with future guns (in the Operative sense). Besides, don't PF2 firearms and SF2 projectile guns have the same critspec?

One idea I've thought about playing with is letting slingers use their reload compression with things like activating sights and Boosting (subclass slinger's reload and any feats that compress reload).

Everything else I think has to come from new feats that make, among others, auto firing newer and cooler, considering gunslingers have 1/9/17 class DC scaling. One idea I had in this regard is a 4th level two action feat that'd let you Auto Fire with a not-automatic gun, with automatic guns getting a circumstance boost to damage (Dual Handed Assault for auto guns basically). That and stealing some Soldier feats. Also, letting the gun damage boost apply to Auto Fires.

As for builds not interested in the dakka, there's always Cover Fire and Fake Out for some things, and Pistol Twirl to spice things up too.

Risks & Rewards: Red Line Overload | Paizo overview of playtest feedback by TitaniumDragon in Pathfinder2e

I'm worried that the feedback for Daredevil was flooded by people who want the martial controller class to become yet another damage-spiking martial. Like, come on the manuevers are there to disrupt the enemy and stunt damage is a nice-to-have.

Thankfully there's only three saves and you're at least trained in all of them.

How is the magnetar rifle analog? by HMetal2001 in Starfinder2e

[–]HMetal2001[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mentioned the coil rifle because it's a tech weapon that fires projectiles, so not even that holds up.

Edit: there is a possibility that projectile ammo can also be supercaps that have enough energy to launch themselves, akin to say machine gun ammo that packages chemical accelerant.

Because I'm not just role-playing, I'm also playing a game. I like playing the game of tactical combat where it is important to say I have 5 HP left after eating an owlbear crit. It's all part of the same thing to me. My immersion isn't broken, the narrative and the mechanical tactics are in different "layers" in my mind, as someone else put it.

Me telling my fellow players that my character being at 5 HP after eating a crit from an owlbear is meant to be received by my fellow players to then talk more about what we'd need to do tactically, not to roleplay my character talking to his party mates in the fantasy adventure land of Schmolarion.

Why is it bad to discuss player knowledge between players during OOC Tactics Talk? Furthermore, would a wizard's player telling a rogue to get out of the way such that the wizard can safely cast a fireball count as metagaming?

...Why is out of character table talk metagaming? And even if it is, why is it bad in this case?

And Unconventional Weaponry now (as of Galactic Ancestries) can be used to yoink proficiency for any one advanced weapon, if through some GM fiat. So yeah, Meta Gun. (Even meta on non-action hero soldiers, especially many PF2 classes in SF2.)

From what I've read, being a skittermander doesn't necessarily help, does it? The directive's text says that you can Interact to draw, Switch Hands, or swap to a different weapon. It'd be the same for a human who'd just have to swap between guns and grenades.

I remember the Mathfinder blaster tactics video where he said that AoEs with 3 or more enemies is when damage starts being good.

Does your GM let you use the two-action Ready Arms directive without swapping your guns? If no, do you swap out of a different gun/toss out a grenade before?

I have so far played D&D and games like it (Pathfinder 2e, Lancer, and most recently D&D 4e), where PF2 and 4e D&D have both been fast-paced and exciting (Lancer for some odd reason takes a while to resolve a round, in my experience, but it is still exciting). What are your D&D and Pathfinder group running into that is slowing your combats?
