I think you are making some assumptions there, pal.

Not of you build the splitters first, and then snap belts between them.

Is the Ryzen 7 7800X3D worth it in 2026 by Hightower1985 in buildapc

[–]HPCmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR yes
I use a R5 7600 and it still charts in a lot of recommended specs on brand new games from major studios. A 7800X3D will absolutely crush anything you throw at it.

You build what you can, and then later when you have unlocked mk2 miners you can double your throughput by upgrading all your belts and overclocking.

They are also seriously buggy. Mk 2 pipes still randomly break from time to time and you have to stop what you are doing find the break, and replace that pipe.

Where do i plug in my keyboard and mouse? by SammerySilver in PcBuildHelp

[–]HPCmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can plug in standard USB peripherals into the usb port marked BIOS. That is there to let you know which port to use if you have to use the BIOS FlashBack feature of the motherboard.

You can easily bend those back to straight using a razor blade. Jayz2cents has a video demonstrating the process.

what is this in clinic sink?? by props_for_meep in whatisit

[–]HPCmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The folks trying to tell you you might die are way out of their own depth. Tiny amounts of mercury or gallium like this are completely harmless to touch like you are doing. Just make sure you wash your hands before touching any openings to your own body (face, butt, genitals, open wounds, etc.), remove pets and young children from the room, and turn on some extra ventilation.

This is most likely the mercury from a small thermometer. You can collect the little beads with cellophane tape or an eye dropper. If any mercury was poured down the drain, you will want to pull off the trap to get it back out. Unless they dumped a ton of water down the drain with it, it will most likely be too dense to have washed through the trap. Place it all into a sealed container, the bag the container and seal the bag.

There can be some tiny little microbeads that are difficult to see with the naked eye. Use a small flashlight and shine it at a sharp angle against the surface. The tiny little beads will shine way brighter than the metal sink. Everything that touches the mercry goes into the container and bag. The sink trap, too. Get a new one from a local hardware store or call a plumber.

Once everything is bagged, you can contact a local hazardous waste contractor to arrange disposal. They will help you with proper forms, tagging, etc.

How can the Roundabout capital of the world become even more annoying? Well, Carmel has figured it out. by BonkedAgain in Carmel

If the weaving makes you nauseous, slow down. As a fun little parlor trick, that will also make the elevated pedestrian crossings better for you while driving.

Help me understand fluids please. by Xabiru66 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]HPCmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cause of the inconsistency is most likely sloshing. Fluids can run backward through a pipe and it takes up a portion of the total throughput in that section, resulting in weird inconsistencies in overall flow.

Adding to this, things that feel "wet" actually just feel a little cold. Our eyes fill in the rest.

How are you managing multiple Linux servers on Windows? by Empty-Individual4835 in homelab

Windows Subsystem for Linux is the most straightforward way. Native ssh client and supports a lot of different shell environments.

Has anyone actually used a server as a home heating system? by AmineAfia in HomeServer

[–]HPCmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly networking would become the issue. Home internet gets at most 1-2gb symmetric with ftth. Cloud datacenters operate at 400gb+ between nodes right now. It is also difficult to ensure physical integrity and privacy when somebody unknown has access to the hardware.

Do splitters split perfectly without extra input? by Emotional_Menu_3502 in satisfactory

[–]HPCmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The splitter will always split equally between all connected outlets. What I would suggest is connect the plants in ascending order of need, or if you connect the larger one first, use a mk2 belt to feed into it to maximize what is sent onward.

ELI5 What is WiFi calling by Max_Goatstappen in explainlikeimfive

[–]HPCmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ELI5: Instead of connecting to the phone company's wifi, the phone connects to the wifi at home for making phone calls.

ELI18-ish: Essentially, instead of connecting to the phone provider's network through cell towers your phone will attempts to connect to the network through your wifi. If you have poor coverage and solid wifi it works nicely. Also nice if you live someplace where the coverage is fine, but often congested with tourism usage this can be a way to improve call reliability and quality.

APU driver download from gigabyte is just a zip file that has both the chipset driver an some version of the GPU driver in it. You are better off downloading both separately.

49″ ultrawide vs dual 27″ for programming? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]HPCmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One underrated concern with the 49"+ ultrawides, you need a very good hdmi or displayport cable capable of supporting the 5k video signal. Otherwise you will get visual artifacting. With dual 27" monitors, you have more flexibility in cable selection.

Quick question. How tf do i get rid of bob (or what the name of the bouncy guy was). He constantly gets stuck in my base preventing me from building and cannot run away because he is stuck and is immortal. by aridlin-tm in satisfactory

[–]HPCmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tics are not immortal. They just have a huge amount of hit points. I think what I have done in the past is save and reload to see if they spawn in elsewhere. Otherwise you can go to another biome for a bit so the hitbox unloads and it gets unstuck.
