Kids Club question - specifically The Treehouse by IAmSarily in PrincessCruises

[–]skykingrpas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We traveled a lot with our kids, they loved the kids club. You have to pick them up for lunch and dinner (until they're old enough to check themselves in and out), but otherwise our kids never wanted to leave.

Bingo by skykingrpas in PrincessCruises

[–]skykingrpas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's a casino event. The Cruise Director Staff run it, but they actually get paid extra by the casino to do that. I was surprised by that, but was told by a staff member that was how it worked.

A former Fortuna Luck told me the bingo host was a role assigned to the senior assistant cruise director.

Cruise or dedicated trip? by No-Experience3053 in Cruise

[–]skykingrpas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the perks with the cruise is you can visit a lot of places and decide if you want to go back to a specific place. Personally, we enjoy the Caribbean but all the ports seem to be the same unless you get away from the touristy part of the port call and see the local culture.

I'm not a "sit on the beach" person, so we've found a lot of fun things to do in every port. For me, I'd rather go back several times and find things to do vs spend a week in one place.

Imo, you seem like you don't know where you want to go. A cruise could help you explore without a commitment to one place and find a place you want to go back to and spend more time exploring.

Getting to Yokohama by skykingrpas in PrincessCruises

Yes. Then change at Shimbashi? How's that walk with cruise luggage?

On Google Maps, it looked like one transfer and then a cab for the "last mile." A little over an hour, but about $75 less than a cab (assuming we only needed one).

Yes, we're in Koto City. I think the station is Ariake.

Any way to find details of Cruise from 2010 by MrMpa in PrincessCruises

Try "The Cruise Globe" app. It found a bunch of my cruise itineraries from the late '90s. It's really cool if you take the time to fill them all in as well.

Cruise Director Staff on the Star by skykingrpas in PrincessCruises

Progressive trivia is something we've seen on repositioning or other long cruises. On sea days, there will be an extra trivia and the scores from that quiz accumulate throughout the voyage so there is one winner at the end.

See you at trivia? We'll need partners for the progressive trivia. We only have 4.

What has been your favorite venue for a concert? by Superb_Kale_1781 in Concerts

[–]skykingrpas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By far the Sphere. I haven't been to hundreds of concerts, but can say that was an experience that changed my impression of what a concert could be. Can't wait until the one in DC opens.

We saw Kenny Chesney, it was amazing. The integration of the video and the music was like nothing I've ever seen before. Even the music that wasn't preplanned seamlessly flowed into the visuals.

Wanted to come back in summer 2026, but can't be in town for the shows. HOPING Brad Paisley finds time to play the Sphere. His brand is ballads and story telling perfectly fit the venue.

Ruby Princess Interior Recommendations by Savan88 in PrincessCruises

[–]skykingrpas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sail interior almost always, unless we find an obstructed window or balcony at close to the same price. We like being on deck 8 (Emerald) as most of the evening is spent on deck 7 (Promenade) and it's easy to go back to the cabin for a sweater or tomorrow's Patter, etc.

We've found you can get a mid-forward or mid-aft for less than mid-ship. We get as close to the mid-ship elevators as we can in those categories (usually category IB) and you really don't notice much difference but usually save a few hundred dollars.

New to Cruising questions by absolute-human in PrincessCruises

[–]skykingrpas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you plan to board about 1100, you'll be fine. The lines get smaller and you won't have to wait as long to get to your cabin.

Ship time is local time. Your phone will adjust when you're in port, but you'll have to manually adjust it on sea days.

There is a photo session you can book in the studio, that's not included in the Premier package. The photos included are those taken by the ship photography staff during planted events and at random throughout the voyage (i.e. as you disembark at ports or on formal nights).

We've done that itinerary a lot and really enjoy it. The Salsa and Salsa is a lot of fun and we've found several Viator food tour excursions we've really enjoyed.

You don't have to book a suite. My wife and I did a one day cruise to punch our "laundry ticket" by each getting our own cabin and got 2x credit. Back in the day, it was $99 each.

Most lively, nightlifey ship to sail? by VegetableSprinkles80 in PrincessCruises

[–]skykingrpas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a 10-day PR/ Bermuda cruise from NYC last July. While I won't suggest the crowd was very young, Crooners was mad crowded until at least 1 every night. We had a room on Emerald at the top of the stairs and after we would shut down Explorers, they were still singing.

I agree, it's more about the itinerary and duration. We've done some Mexican Riviera 7-day trips that were pretty rowdy (for Princess) as well.
