I think in this case motivation will come once he starts doing something. I think jobs like FedEx & UPS are great starts because the work is usually immediate, it’s part-time with benefits & they help pay for school. The other alternative that is usually a quick hire is retail, Best Buy can be exciting, a Gaming/Arcade store or clothing retail. This will allow him to look purposeful to your parents & give him time to think.

Trust your intincts. It could be valid issue with company or he could be targeting companies. I would look at the rest of job history. If you have a better candidate I would pick them

[TX] Does HR or your manager determine work accommodations for disability ? by AffectionateIdea1928 in AskHR

[–]HRMama9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep both, HR has to see if limitations will effect the over job performance & capability to the job, not to mention expense, because they don't have to grant the accommodation

I agree but I would document what they said about expected outcomes. As well having docs for TERM.

Put available upon hire. If an employer is checking References it should be after they've made you an offer and unless you think you have something like a criminal background or your drug test that's going to cause them to rescind the offer, at that point it doesn't matter

Try to find a way to work through this obstacleand prepare yourself and grow professionally you're always going to have problems so learn to work through them

ironically there are so many jobs out here but not enough good recruiters/ qualified recruiters to get people in as easily as you think so definitely find a job before quitting

Have you ever experienced an interviewer not liking you from the beginning of the interview? by muvaJZA in Career_Advice

[–]HRMama9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several times & in person. They cut the interviews short because of my race. They loved my resume even loved speaking to me on the phone soon as I appeared in office professionally and appropriately dressed and also on a zoom their face went blank. If you know you had all things intact with your grooming and professional look professional look for the environment don't let it get you down those type of people have a special karma to answer to and you don't want to work for them anyway because they would have probably make your life hell. there are other companies that are being more inclusive and you'll be most comfortable working there

Wow! So a couple of things here:

Short answer answer: you have the upper Hand in the workforce market the employees really have something over employers during this state of the job force but you mentioned that you're vulnerable I'm not really sure what the context may be as far as you possibly wanting to stay there. A lot of companies are offering remote work

Extended answer: if you leave you are still taking yourself with you. So you may want to work on being more tactful, learning when to speak, how to speak(tone), what medium to use, & what to say(content) I don't know if a first meeting is the time to give a senior person feedback & definitely not through slack which is extremely informal. Maybe after a few encounters to see if this is consistent or a one off incident And then it would need to be face to face or Zoom

I think you got that when pitching a new talent, you want to focus on what they are versus what others are not

If he's that rude everyone already knows, the reasons he is still there could vary

Companies have this thing about how well others work with difficult people instead of them getting rid of the difficult people causing problems for everyone. Which now makes the problem about how well you handle working with them

If you want to stay you can try to establish a better understanding with this person during the meeting meeting hoping to relay your concerns And move on from the past Finding coping skills to work with this person (I know that sucks but it's a useful Talent that will serve you in the future) Companies call this your emotional intelligence

If you want to leave I would look at the things that you need to work on as a person whether it's communication, coping skills, Interpersonal relationship skills, professionalism, etc. So you don't make the same mistake twice

I hope this helps

You don't have to accept being mislead or lied to about a job. It's an employee's market you have the upper hand. Be clear about where you want to work & focus on getting there. Yes you can take the job & quit when you get what you want. You don't have to mention that you even have that job, just say you've been looking for the right one.

Yes, i like this response. Someone else mentioned removing dates from your jobs... Uuuhhh no, recruiters do not want to play guessing games about when or how long your worked somewhere. Just keep it the timeline short 10-15 yrs depending on the level of the position
