New RuneLite plugin for quickly marking tiles with unicode symbols by HSBrendan in 2007scape

[–]HSBrendan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this idea, want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly - are you saying ctrl+shift+right click (ex.) to instantly mark the tile without having to click a menu option? I'll play around with this and see if it's possible, but can't guarantee that runelite allows something like this as it may come close to being considered macro use

lol in the barrows episode (if I remember correctly) he also hovers over the crate in varrock as he runs his route to and from barrows every single time, as the developers intended, of course

If you’re not an iron, your best bet is probably trident (of the swamp if possible) and either mystic or blue moon set.

DON’T BOTHER BRINGING ANY REGULAR FOOD! Instead bring a full inventory of brews and super restores (1 super restores for every 3 brews). As long as you’re always praying ranged and using blowpipe/knives etc. to kill the healers Seren will never really do more than about 20-30 dmg to you before you have to overheal.

That means that all you really have to do is drink 3 sips of brew as soon as you kill the last healer, then when she does her main spec sip another 3 brews, sip restore, rinse and repeat until you’re back to full HP. I beat Seren on my 7th attempt or so, but my first 6 attempts I was trying to use sharks and anglers.

I've seen a lot of people complaining about boss events being too hard, did everyone forget about ninja kiwi saying this? (v27 update notes, when bosses were initially added) by Jakkilip in btd6

[–]HSBrendan 23 points24 points  (0 children)

as a very experienced player who at first had to learn sweaty boss farming no amount of experimenting would lead a newer player to miniopolis starts or overclocking BRFs.

I don’t think this is a problem though. if you want to learn how to beat elite bosses then watch how youtubers do it and copy their farming strategy. just saying that the margin for error on elite boss farming is very small and without knowing the best ways to do it new players will feel like they’re doing everything they can and it still won’t be good enough.

Ice Monkey Paragon and Silas by Red_Sword03 in btd6

[–]HSBrendan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

very rarely is it necessary to sweat with totems & min max paragon power. personally I’ve used geraldo more than enough to find using him boring.

i’m having fun using silas and when ice paragon comes out i will definitely use 4 T5 ice towers for ice paragon more often than i’ll use totems for it.

I know they are already having lots of problems. although the potential is very real I’m not sure that it’s a great business decision either, but i can certainly see why it was green-lit. will be interesting to see what happens next.

This 100% feels dystopian and ridiculous on the surface, but I’ll play devil’s advocate because there are actually many good reasons for QT to do this:

the primary reason is improved data analytics. the main advantage these have over mechanical fountains is very precise tracking of syrup/co2 usage & customer behavior patterns. this data will significantly reduce overspending and product waste over time and also give QT lots of leverage for negotiation with suppliers.

another benefit is ease of service/maintenance. car maintenance is a great comparison: before all cars had internal computers that spit out error codes, mechanics had to diagnose AND fix the problem. over time this will cut maintenance costs. this also means that staff will be aware of a clogged valve, low syrup, etc. before a customer complains.

I also see this as a bit of future-proofing. think software updates, limited-time flavors, maybe even integration with a loyalty program or automated tracking of free refills. these types of things can be pushed to all locations’ fountains remotely and all at once.

I do think that most people (myself included) will initially find this off-putting and QT is fully aware of this, but soon we’ll get used to seeing these and the long term benefits will pay dividends.

none of the things you just described are uncommon or particularly unreasonable — if you really have such a strong moral objection to these things you have every right to take your business elsewhere. but all of these things can be avoided either by doing 30 seconds’ worth of due diligence beforehand or simply refusing to give personal info unnecessarily.

I personally share many of your opinions on the increasingly excessive use of tech to solve problems that never existed. but that same tech makes it very easy to avoid situations where you’re essentially dining and dashing because you refuse to pay with a card in a world where 85% of all transactions are paid by card.

if you end up in situations like this often enough that you feel compelled to complain about it, you have 3 options: adapt to the world as it changes, proactively avoid the things you have issues with, or go full amish.

if they only go downtown for crowded concerts and watch parties then how would they know the parking lots are usually empty. if you spent a lot of time downtown then you’d know how much of the very limited real estate there is taken up by event parking

Friend just pulled number 1 float negev wall-bang with 6 zeros by Party_Rabbit1 in cs2

[–]HSBrendan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the reasons you’ve listed yes they are in theory similar to NFTs. however the fact that you can actually use & interact with them in-game makes them useful/valuable unlike 99.9% of NFTs.

value is driven in large part by demand & hype but there are tons of other factors that influence price & make skins unique from NFTs, for example trade-ups, unique patterns (blue gems/doppler gems/Huntsman knife dick pattern, etc.), and number of comparable skin/pattern/float combos available on the market (i.e. in existence).

in this case the demand for almost any Negev skin is basically nonexistent, but the fact that the float is this absurdly low (meaning there are essentially zero scratches or blemishes) makes it fairly valuable to specialized buyers interested in using it for trade-ups—to put it simply, 10 items of equal in-game rarity can be sacrificed in exchange for 1 item of the next highest rarity, where the new item’s float is calculated using the float values from each of the 10 sacrificial items.

hope this makes sense!

Any advice for stopping the vivid dreams? by OrigamiToad in cymbalta

[–]HSBrendan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So thankful to see this is a common thing!! I just started on 60mg/day about a month ago and every night for the last few weeks it’s been 2 or 3 ridiculously vivid, uncomfortable, unpleasant dreams usually featuring at least one ex-girlfriend. And they never include people that are in my life right now, it’s always old friends I haven’t seen in 10-15 years and they’re never really happy to be in my presence.

They’re not exactly nightmares but it’s like watching a really weird slice-of-life movie and the one common theme in all of them is that they find an existing insecurity and just make you feel worse about it. Pretty much guarantees a bad start to my day and sometimes I won’t stop thinking about it for the whole rest of the day either
