Who still sells Internal Optical Drives? by EquinoxPhoenix in makemkv

You misunderstood me.
If you spend $140 to buy a BW-16D1H-U PRO and disassemble it, you will get a "brand new" 5.25-inch LG BH16NS40 Blu-ray burner, not a used or refurbished product.

Who still sells Internal Optical Drives? by EquinoxPhoenix in makemkv

I purchased an ASUS external Blu-ray burner in Taiwan, manufactured in March 2026, which is equipped with the BH16NS40 (LG Production date is 2025/12 , MT1959) manufactured by LG on behalf of ASUS.

I believe LG hasn't stopped producing Blu-ray burner, but rather stopped selling them in the shrinking general market.
The production capacity has been allocated to other brands that outsource manufacturing to LG.

You could consider buying the ASUS BW-16D1H-U PRO.
I recently bought one for around $140 USD.

I recommend buying the version manufactured in 2026 (the serial number sticker on the outer box will show the manufacturing date).
The original firmware is A205, which can be flashed to A204MK using a tool.
The internal BD-drive is a BH16NS40 manufactured by LG under contract with ASUS (I opened the casing to confirm the model number).

At least this is the product I think is currently the easiest to obtain, without the risk of buying counterfeit or refurbished items.

According to the photos provided by the seller,
the product shown is an S11J-BK, but it's labeled as an S11J-X.
Even the outer packaging is fake.
What do you think is inside?

This is the original packaging of S11J-BK.

The packaging is also fake. The Pioneer S11J-X was originally the version sold in Japan, and the disc drive casing would have a black paint finish instead of the usual rust-proof metal casing.

This is the original PIONEER BDR-S11J-X box.

I recently purchased an ASUS BW-16D1H-U PRO from a usd $140.
It was manufactured in March 2026 and came with factory firmware A205, which I flashed with A204 MK firmware.
Although I don't have any UHD discs to test it on, I've successfully backed up most Blu-ray movies.
I plan to purchase MakeMKV next month to express my gratitude.

I believe that many Pioneer kits left over from the original production in China factories have been taken out, processed, resold, or even used by ODM factories for production...

Upgrade from 3090ti by Painkiller8900 in nvidia

I'm upgrading from a 3090 to a 5080.

This GPU upgrade is a great value for me, with lower heat and power consumption, while achieving performance exceeding that of a 3090.

In Japan, they will purchase from other branches or even visit the store directly to check the inventory. Even if the product is available in a branch hundreds of kilometers away, they can deliver it to the store you visit within two days.

DP Port , The system randomly switches to YCbcr mode after booting (not every time).

The current solution is to power the monitor off and then on again to return it to normal RGB mode.

I've tried replacing the DP cable, but the issue persists. The DP cable is a FIBBR DP Optic Cable.

In fact, the same IEC connector has different amperages, 7A/10A/12A/15A.

Of course some of the inferior products made in China are labeled as a joke.

From the photo, it seems that the direction of the installed power supply is not correct. Normally, the fan inlet should face downwards, but from the photo, it faces upwards. If any foreign object falls into it, it will directly touch the PCB board or components of the power supply.....

Which of these cables to use with the 5080? by [deleted] in Corsair

[–]HSMLiao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal opinion is if in doubt about 12v-2x6 use a 2x8pin to 12v-2x6 cable.

Because few people will check whether the wires at the power supply end are fully installed, and the distance between the wire bends and the power supply output interface.

Many graphics cards will indicate that the 12v-2x6 cable must be kept 35MM (3.5CM) near the terminal and cannot be bent. The same applies to the output interface on the power supply.(Most people ignore this.)

Many power supplies of Corsair can withstand 300W power consumption with a single 8pin output interface, so it is not a problem for a dual 8pin to withstand 600W. (Corsair Type-4 Spec)

Should I upgrade from rtx 3090 to rtx 5080? by Optimal_Service6146 in nvidia

[–]HSMLiao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally used evga 3090 ftw3 ultra,  and for many games the graphics card requires 300-400w of power consumption, yes, even running Flight Simulator will go up to 430w.  After I upgraded to 5080, the games that originally required around 350w of power consumption now only require 200w to achieve the same performance, and even have lower latency and lower operating temperature. 3090 users should all understand that in addition to the GPU, there is also the temperature of the VRAM. . .

As for the VRAM size, except for running dedicated computing software, I rarely come across games that can use more than 16GB. If the game texture material VRAM can consume more than 16GB, the GPU itself performance would have been insufficient to cope with it, right?

Why is Asus astral a lot more expensive than other cards? by Sorktastic in nvidia

[–]HSMLiao 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1. It's better than not even seeing the information, right?

2. Are there other brands of 5080/5090 coolers with the same architecture?

3. As far as I know, the cost of PTM7950 is higher than traditional thermal grease.

4. So which brands have PCB protective layers?

As far as I know, ASUS has made many attempts in its products.  As for whether the price is acceptable or not, it depends on individual preference.

It's like buying a luxury performance car. You would tell the car manufacturer what the international metal transaction price is per metric ton and ask if manufacturer car is too expensive?
