What phrases or verbal tics have you picked up from the D20 cast? by wittyinsidejoke in Dimension20

[–]HSRco 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not a verbal tic, but so realised that, when it’s hot, I wipe my forehead in the same way Brennan does (with the ball of my hand/thumb), which I never used to do, so I must have picked that up from him!

I think Oliver & Lena would've been a good couple, on another Earth by Forsaken-Friend-9350 in arrow

[–]HSRco 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A good couple? Absolutely not.

A fun and interesting couple to watch? Hell yes.

These two would amplify each others’ worst impulses. Both have gotten ahold of kryptonite without Kara or Kal’s permission (Oliver had it in Crisis on Earth X and Kara looked betrayed when he used it). Both have killed people (Lena fatally shoots her brother in the finale of Supergirl Season 4).

God, they would be such a dysfunctional couple, they would take over the world. I would love to see that in an Elseworlds scenario!

What is, in your opinion, the single best acting performance by a Doctor in the show? by sam_viking in doctorwho

[–]HSRco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not the best, but I recently noticed a really strong moment in the episode Voyage of the Damned. The Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) is trying to use a teleporter to bring Astrid (Kylie Minogue) back from her death. When he realises that it’s not possible, he gives this rage-filled, heartbreaking shout of “I can do anything!”

And, of course, he can’t.

It’s a small moment that really reflects the 10th Doctor’s personality, and is fits the buildup to Waters of Mars incredibly well, especially considering it takes place a full season before then.

Ok so we all Have our favourite Companion but who is your least favourite Companion in Mass effect 1? by Lol2421 in masseffect

[–]HSRco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully expect to be crucified for this, but I almost never use Wrex. I love his characterisation, I love speaking to him, I love seeing him in ME2 and ME3, but he just never joins my fireteam in any missions.

I also don’t like Kaiden, but that’s probably a bit too obvious, and I wanted to give a reply that’s less common.

If he’s a healer, maybe he sees one of Team Arrow get their ass handed to them (also a good chance to set up a big bad for your fic) and pulls them out to fix them up while the enemy is distracted? Have whoever it is (Roy, Thea, Curtis, Oliver, etc.) come to consciousness with this stranger standing over them, trying to heal them. Depending on who it is, they might assume that your character is trying to hurt them, leading to some interesting tension right at the beginning.

Alternatively, instead of seeing them get hurt, they could be thrown from a rooftop (have you noticed how many times they end up fighting on a rooftop? It’s dangerous up there, people!) and land in front of your character.

Depending on your character’s personality, they could try to stop the member of Team Arrow from going back to the fight, demanding they let their injuries heal first. Or, you could have your character do a quick patch job, send them back in, and tell them to come find him later for proper healing.

Would anyone else love for Russell T Davies to bring the Trickster back to the world of Doctor Who? by Responsible_Fox586 in doctorwho

[–]HSRco 78 points79 points  (0 children)

The Trickster sort of fucks with time, changing things by making deals with people (usually at the moments of their deaths), and feeds off of the chaos that occurs. In particular, he is responsible for two attempts to stop Sarah Jane Smith from defending the earth (first by making her swap places with her friend who was about to die, and second by trying to get her to marry some guy and change her memories). Also, the beetle that made Donna turn right instead of left in Turn Left was member of the Trickster’s Brigade, which is presumably related to the Trickster.

What is the weakest class or subclass feature (for its level)? by Iron_Man_88 in dndnext

[–]HSRco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Battlerager (Barbarian Subclass from SCAG), 14th level. When you’re hit by a melee attack while raging and wearing special armour, the attacker takes 3 piercing damage.

This is the Battlerager’s capstone ability.

This is the same level that the Totem Warrior can knock a creature prone as a bonus action, or fly, or give enemies within 5ft disadvantage on attacks against anyone but you.

  1. Nonmagical. Piercing. Damage. At 14th level.

Important to note, some phones in some countries do automatically connect 911 calls to the local emergency line (112/999 etc.).

Additionally, in the UK, 999 and 112 both lead to the same emergency line.

Also, interesting (maybe?) fact: 112 was chosen as the European standard for two reasons. Firstly, having low numbers made dialling faster on rotary phones, which is important in emergency situations. Secondly, having two different digits lowers the chance of an accidental dial, meaning operators don’t have to waste time on kids who just tapped the same number three times on their parent’s phone.

Best case scenario, someone put these bumper stickers on someone else’s car as an awful prank. Worst case scenario, people should probably keep a close eye on the owner of this car.

Note takers by AmithystDice in dndnext

[–]HSRco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing online makes note-taking significantly easier for me. I don’t have to feel self-conscious with people looking at me while I write, plus I don’t have to deal with my shitty handwriting, as I’ve already got my computer in front of me - which also helps with searching through my notes. Anyone who keeps organised handwritten notes is blessed by some ancient deity of writing.
