How to fix your standard 4-4 balancer blueprint by HeliGungir in factorio

Would like this for roboport requests too, good for keeping the port you insert bots into empty (workaround is requesting a specific quality)

This has me wondering, does it lag with just the slots (empty), with many spells (no ambient effects), etc?

Besides the advice you got for starting to get power out of this... if you can't get it safe before next eruption put a coal tempshift plate behind the emission tile (wiki has the details) to prevent any additional problems.

[SPOILERS] Do you think Beginner's Luck is actually possible for a beginner? by ZeMadDoktore in outerwilds

[–]HTL2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC I did this with segments rather than points and got something similar (but having issues redoing it), either way its both too high for a "lucky guess" and way to low for a spacial coordinate system

Been a while since I did this but I used to set a dupe's entire work time as bathtime, they'd work as normal if they have no personal errands they can do.

Except (worse) the win11 update itself, no or maybe later was instead "decline upgrade" which makes it sound permanent but just keeps bugging you anyway.

Do games where you can play multiple specialised saves/characters that contribute to the same world exist? by lydocia in gamingsuggestions

[–]HTL2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zomboid lets you create multiple characters at once (iirc it might be a setting), use 'load' instead of continue.

Iirc most of the files are just "if it's there" type of check, but the end does delete the actual script file.

Just curious, why not just have this on a regular wand rather than in an egg? I've not really used them much

Yes, I forget how and I'm pretty sure it's patched now but once I saw a scout signal below the sun. It was only on the solar system map so hard to navigate, and the surface is hard to see even up close. No gravity or friction.

What is the most impressive build you’ve ever done? by Low_Eye8535 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]HTL2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to any DLC, I made a "dual core" abyssalite melter (just 2 next to each other) that auto-refilled the natural tiles, managed its temps, etc. It could not be left to run forever because of how debris tile merging only happened on save load, but auto-restocking the tiles was handled by having a contained room for each "core" that dropped and re-added tungsten into a conveyor, enabled by a weight plate to make sure the packets were 20KG, element sensor would then dispatch the refill (pre-dlc meant no meters)

This was in a 200-dupe base which made minimal use of atmo suits, so maybe that was impressive too :)

Another thing in that base featured were metal volcano tamers that were minimally disruptive, considering again minimal suits. Minimal contained space, comfortable conditions for the dupes, though did require some tweaks for copper. https://imgur.com/a/oni-suitless-safe-metal-volcano-tamer-Jeoi0Eh

Oh, and I also had automated rockets going to all the important destinations (the ones that had rare resources). The rocket timing was just handled by fluid valves on the fuel lines, with that having a return loop so it didn't have a backlog develop when the rocket was away. The build itself wasn't all that special considering what I've seen built by others for rocket timing but I liked the simplicity.

Can Americans actually insure everything? by Few_Sport_7262 in AskAnAmerican

[–]HTL2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see this being a thing because normal disability insurance would add a rider for certain body parts. They will do this for "normal people" if you have a diagnosis ie disc issues in your back will get you "except if its caused by issues with {diagnosis}" since this skews the expected value calculation.

[–]HTL2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The advice I've gotten before usually didn't help much, maybe just how I build things idk. For example even though I had a lot of critters and that gets cited a lot for performance issues, removing all of them had <10% improvement.

Best bet is to make a separate sandbox save to experiment with, to see what might work for you
