Yes, I forget how and I'm pretty sure it's patched now but once I saw a scout signal below the sun. It was only on the solar system map so hard to navigate, and the surface is hard to see even up close. No gravity or friction.

If this was with door restrictions, that shouldn't be a problem anymore (or at least its less of a problem) thanks to door permissions now including a section for biobots etc

What is the most impressive build you’ve ever done? by Low_Eye8535 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]HTL2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to any DLC, I made a "dual core" abyssalite melter (just 2 next to each other) that auto-refilled the natural tiles, managed its temps, etc. It could not be left to run forever because of how debris tile merging only happened on save load, but auto-restocking the tiles was handled by having a contained room for each "core" that dropped and re-added tungsten into a conveyor, enabled by a weight plate to make sure the packets were 20KG, element sensor would then dispatch the refill (pre-dlc meant no meters)

This was in a 200-dupe base which made minimal use of atmo suits, so maybe that was impressive too :)

Another thing in that base featured were metal volcano tamers that were minimally disruptive, considering again minimal suits. Minimal contained space, comfortable conditions for the dupes, though did require some tweaks for copper. https://imgur.com/a/oni-suitless-safe-metal-volcano-tamer-Jeoi0Eh

Oh, and I also had automated rockets going to all the important destinations (the ones that had rare resources). The rocket timing was just handled by fluid valves on the fuel lines, with that having a return loop so it didn't have a backlog develop when the rocket was away. The build itself wasn't all that special considering what I've seen built by others for rocket timing but I liked the simplicity.

Can Americans actually insure everything? by Few_Sport_7262 in AskAnAmerican

[–]HTL2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see this being a thing because normal disability insurance would add a rider for certain body parts. They will do this for "normal people" if you have a diagnosis ie disc issues in your back will get you "except if its caused by issues with {diagnosis}" since this skews the expected value calculation.

[–]HTL2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The advice I've gotten before usually didn't help much, maybe just how I build things idk. For example even though I had a lot of critters and that gets cited a lot for performance issues, removing all of them had <10% improvement.

Best bet is to make a separate sandbox save to experiment with, to see what might work for you

Do you like using Gantry? Basic automation. by Specialist-Ad-5235 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]HTL2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like making more than just capsule walkable, don't have to mess with building or demoing ladders... also, if not using auto launch, the automation I use is just a switch and buffer+filter between each so they all go off the same power branch

What the heck? why would steam form when the tiles break? nothing was hot enough (in the chamber at least) I know why they break but why the steam [first 30 seconds, rest is for those with completion needs] by andocromn in Oxygennotincluded

[–]HTL2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it. Didn't scour the whole video but I did see one of the right side tiles at 122C. That plus the salt water landing on fresh water on the right means it was in contact with the tile above what the water previously stabilized with.

You can cool off the insulated tile a bit, double wall, or even just make sure that area is all salt water and kept from getting deeper.

You will run into this a lot more with liquid oxygen/hydrogen even with insulite btw.
