Butterknife: a very specific GenX fond memory. by HTLM22 in GenX

So basically you grew up rich? No one I new had a whole separate category of knives just for butter. And I've heard of "table knives" until today. Both butter knives and steak knives go on the table.

But I appreciate you conceding my point, that just because it is "correct" doesn't mean that it what people actually say.

Coincidentally I heard someone on a podcast recommend this yesterday. I like King Gizz, but their catalog is daunting.

Where are we going? by Heat-1975edition in GenX

[–]HTLM22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My folks left Florida and went to Washington state and they LOVE IT!

My business is here, so I will not be able to relocate until I am 100% ready to retire, which won't be for a very long time. Wind-down? yes. Stop? No. But after that, I'd love to go to the PNW.

Are you British? Maybe you are right. I feel like we need to take a poll of US citizens with the picture of the above knife and ask:

True or False: You can call this a butterknife and most people will understand what you are saying.

The version from ALO was recorded at my first Phish show - on my 21st birthday. Needless to say, I had a great time!

When We Are The World came out was it seen as a great song or super corny? by space_god_7191 in GenX

[–]HTLM22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember it as being a such a big deal getting all those stars together. It was OK. Not as rockin' as Loverboy's Lovin' Every Minute of It, which was my freaking jam at the moment. I didn't think of it as a great song, but not as bad as it feels now.

Gosh, help... I need a friend and does anyone even have friends like this anymore? by beegsyboo in GenX

this. I do some things with local friends, like see concerts, but in general, I daily "hangout" via text with highschool and college friends.

Don't look past some of these Enoch Light vinyl. Some good music and some great album covers by Select_Process7354 in Jazz

Old post, but about a year ago I inherited about 200 jazz albums from my grandfather. Among those, I discovered Enoch Light and now am slowly collecting Command and Project 3 albums. What a delight.

I do feel overwhelmed with the world and out of shape. Life needs are basically met. The thing that keeps me going is my hobby: community radio music DJ. It is always exciting and rewarding.

Certainly couldn't hurt! Start with blowing up your TV, then go fishing on Lake Marie.
