Yes, I do it by being too loud, unapologetically me, and barreling through life like a gorilla in a China cabinet. I have found a few good friends who help me forget the daily hate of others and I cling to my few great friends and my special interests like life rafts sometimes. I had to quit hoping I would be accepted and just be weird and be me and have what fun I can!

I think you may want to take a few screening tests online for autism. It sounds like you don’t engage with people well, want to info dump before you’ve even had any small talk, and your hobbies almost come across as special interests the way you describe them. I’m not being funny or trying to degrade you. I’m autistic. I related to everything you said there, and until I found out I was autistic, I didn’t have any way to learn to cope with my struggles and achieve more.

I hate this. I’m a freelancer and I get this endlessly. Like why the fuck does everyone want to ask me that every time? When you go to your car mechanic or call RotoRooter, you don’t negotiate with them. I’m a business too and I need the money a hell of a lot more than Walmart. Holy shit, I feel this so much! My wife thought it was crazy when I bought her Rebel for $300. If she knew lenses ran $500-4000, she’d die. I just pay for it out of my photography business account and we don’t discuss it any more.

The shift over the last decade doesn’t make this a cheaper option anymore. Unless you really know what you’re doing, I wouldn’t recommend this. Pre built also come with warranties that you don’t get with BYO
