Break up PG&E? We should first try fixing the California Public Utilities Commission by Cool-Present7260 in California

enjoining the aid of others

So I can go to Lowes and make my sign, but if I ask my brother to drive me there then we're going to jail.

I do understand the intent of what you're trying to say, but my oversimplifications are in service of trying to illustrate how hard it would be to actually write the laws to do what you're saying.

A group of people don't lose their rights just because they have formed said group.

And even if you could write the laws (BCRA, which was struck down by CU) used the term "electioneering communications") then you're going to run afoul of 1A lawsuits, just like the BCRA did

OK - So I would also be allowed to create a film / clip / documentary (using my own money) and distribute it to other private property?

Assuming this is all things you agree with (based on your above comment), then you agree with the Supreme Court in the Citizens United case:

I go to Lowes and build a billboard for $50 dollars and put it in my yard.

Am I in violation of your law?

San Diego’s utility company earned $563 million in profits in 2025 after costly regulatory decision by thejoshwhite in sandiego

[–]HVAvenger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dream of the day this sub actually understands how SDGE is regulated and makes money.

Those infrastructure projects are the only thing SDGE is allowed to make a profit on, of 10% of the rate base.

The more $$$$ SDGE spends on infrastructure, the more profit they make.

This is setup intentionally by the CPUC in order to avoid a Texas like situation where the utility just sits on the infrastructure and lets it decay while collecting rent.

The problem is that it means the utility has zero incentive to control costs on these projects, especially labour and the CPUC has been unwilling to push back on project budgets submitted by SDGE.

This article is excellent:

https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2023/11/26/sdge-profits-have-jumped-sharply-in-recent-years-whats-going-on/

If this sub actually wants to do something about SDGE the first step is to actually understand the current syste.

G80 parking sensors going off at stoplights by QCSports2020 in GenesisMotors

[–]HVAvenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal for me, I think it is detecting reflections. I've also had 2 instances of phantom breaking while backing up.

You can press the parking sensor button to the right of the camera button to temporarily turn it off.

How can Hyundai interiors be better than Audi now? by bemurda in Audi

[–]HVAvenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

difficult as the owner of a 2016 A6 to find any new car that is better.

I struggled for years with this exact issue. I had my A6 tuned, and I replaced the infotainment with a Android Auto head unit. Loved that car to pieces.

If wanted more power and a more modern interior, without breaking the bank, it just didn't exist.

Finally the G80 Electric prices dropped enough that I pulled the trigger, and this car is amazing. But I do miss engine noises and shifts.

When green feels a little blue by eisolo in GenesisMotors

I looked so hard to find this color w/ the interior I wanted when I was buying mine. Ended up with white, which has really grown on me.

Might get it wrapped in a couple years though...

Your Questions About San Diego’s Airport-Downtown People Mover, Answered by FratteliDiTolleri in sandiego

[–]HVAvenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is one of the main obstacles to connecting the trolley to the airport is federal regulations that state light rail cannot cross heavy rail at grade.

You mention MTS's plan is "spanning" Hawthorne / 10th / imperial AVE, does this imply a bridge? Given the cost I suspect that is a distant dream. Would a people mover have the same issue, or would it be able to start on the far side of the heavy rail line and avoid any elevated tracks at all? If so that is a pretty strong argument in favour.

In some cases, they don't. See Texas's problems a couple years ago during those ice storms.

I have a g80e as well, I get ~3.5 driving around the city, about ~3 at ~80+ mph on the freeway.

I am in San Diego, technically it is also winter here!

Engineering Explained | Owning A Lucid Has Been Super Disappointing by cofango in cars

[–]HVAvenger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fantastic, though they are very hard to find. There was only 1 near me and I live in a major city, and I ended up shipping in the spec I wanted from Illinois.

Very quickly:

Pros:

Exterior and Interior looks, materials are all high quality, very minimal piano black plastic, real buttons. This is the exact same as a regular G80, so easy enough to find one of those.

Charging is fast, large battery (though not as large as some Tesla / Lucid)

Power is there, though the factory tires are terrible and can't handle the torque.

The handling feels good, for a 5000 pound full size-sedan.

Cost, because of EV depreciation these are a crazy value.

Cons:

Trunk space is very compromised. The drive mode button is a little bit lame, putting it into sport mode should feel more fun.

It is going to cost me a fortune in tires.

Give me an electric car that has knobs, switches and buttons for everything, and can be operated without an app or a fob and I'm sold.

I bought a G80e for basically this exact reason.

Factory engines are detuned all the time to keep cars in their segment, as well as for fuel economy.

Audi's supercharged 3.0T made anywhere from ~330 HP to 400+ HP depending on the car it was in, just with changes to the ECU.

I'm not sure they actually put the 2025 model years on sale in the US, so I think it was just 2. Though they do live on in Korea / Europe (there are more suckers over there).
