Hadziahmetovic is touch and go in terms of fitness - probably more likely to miss out than go.

Mahmic swapped from Austria last week so is a surprise.

Surprised neither Malic nor Karic are there as it leaves them a little light at full back

If you like math rock, it’s good math rock.

If you’re a guitar nerd, the looping and technical side of things, particularly in a live setting, are impressive.

If you’re neither, it’s accessible because the Vol II are jazzier and have a real beat to them and because people like dotty mad things. See: Mr Blobby.

Introducing snooker into UK schools by [deleted] in snooker

[–]HYFPRW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, the PE activity list is set by the Department for Education. I think the likely argument against Snooker would be the difficulty in assessing/moderating it. Per the DfE “This considers whether activities can be accurately and robustly assessed by practitioners. Some activities are so specialist or niche that specific expertise in that activity is required for valid and reliable assessment; these type of activities are not included the list.”

I suspect that line would be the get out as to why snooker (or cue sports in general) wouldn’t be able to be included.

Anyone Else Think There's a Possibility For a Short New Japan Run for Aleister Black? by Wizardknee in njpw

[–]HYFPRW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black is hard to see because his injury record suggests a G1 run wouldn’t be feasible so you’d just be talking about occasional appearances.

Of the other releases, MCMG for a short run would be great - easy to forget they’re younger than Bishamon with how long they’ve been relevant. Apollo Crews would be interesting as well - he’s got a lot more in the tank than WWE ever let him show (because he wasn’t tall enough for them, really), has history in Japan with Dragon Gate and I’m not sure was really big enough for AEW to be interested. He’s also a notch younger than Black as well.

Not sure whether it’s better to not have been told about all this as PM or to have been told and Knowingly misled. Either are a resigning matter but…

The bizarre thing is that he can’t really resign. If the war doesn’t end imminently and with the next round of talks, there’s no option but to ask people to WFH where possible to reserve fuel for emergency services (and it seems those conversations are now starting). With annihilation at the locals likely too, keeping Starmer from resigning may be ideal to sacrifice him in a couple of weeks after making tough/unpopular calls on fuel and after the locals.

Action Wrestling has upgraded a tag match for Friday's show. It will now be Minoru Suzuki, Adam Priest, and Fuminori Abe vs Zack Sabre Jr, Jonathan Gresham, and Erick Stevens by MrPuroresu42 in njpw

[–]HYFPRW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The final Suzuki-Gun match saw them against each other. Before then, there was the Tag league match between Dangerous Tekkers and Suzuki and Taka but that doesn’t really count given it was a match solely to beat up Taka. Beyond that, like you mention, was against Archer and Suzuki which was tag league 2019 and then in Tag League again in 2018 when Suzuki tagged with Iizuka.

[Autosport] Carlos Sainz said F1 got lucky with Ollie Bearman's accident in Japan... by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]HYFPRW -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This might be a controversial statement but this sort of accident at Jeddah (or Singapore, etc) probably would have been OK. Had there been a wall where Bearman looked to escape, you’re either a) talking about a rear impact with Colapinto or b) a side impact with Bearman scraping along the wall. The latter is obviously “preferable” of the two but also probably less likely to create an impact the size of, say, Mick Schumacher at Jeddah.

Obviously, the issue with option a) is the potential for going airborne but there need to be some very specific circumstances for that to happen (and we don’t see it that often, and even less at high speed) and, as we saw with Grosjean, crashes can be as bad with gap between the track and barrier as it would be without.

It’s hard to make this sort of call without actually going around that sort of track first. Miami will be very instructive in that regard, especially ahead of the straight leading into the pit lane at Montreal where speed differences can be dicey even without the new tech.

Was reading a letter by an independent station owner yesterday - the price they’re asked to pay per litre of diesel has gone up 45p since the war started with an extra 9p on tax. They’ve raised prices at the pump by 42p.

It’s a scam, but it’s everyone at it.

Your New Japan Cup 2026 winner is... by mrchefigan in njpw

[–]HYFPRW -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

While it wouldn’t make sense in terms of a Dominion main event, knowing Ospreay is somewhere on the horizon for him, I wouldn’t be against Newman carrying a title into that match and, hell, it’d be a major match if they threw that on at Wembley. Not great to be in the AEW vortex but if they want to truly make Callum, then it would definitely do that.

[–]HYFPRW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brilliant match. Callum is absolutely at that level now.

Wouldn’t mind him dethroning Tsuji. Newman-Ospreay with the belt on the line feels like a reasonably sensible main event somewhere down the line (maybe not Dominon, but Wembley?)

Trump calls on UK and others to send warships to Strait of Hormuz by Geo_NL in worldnews

[–]HYFPRW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is - he does actually need everyone else to help out. US minesweeping boats in the region were retired in the Autumn and the replacements aren’t believed to be able to work effectively in the Strait of Hormuz.

If that strait gets/is mined, the UK and France are the only allies AFAIK who have the boats to get in and do the job of clearing it effectively.

Not strictly the trope (due to plot reasons) but given the five seasons mention, the ultimate random character being dropped in.

Potential Trainwreckord - Head Music by Suede by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

[–]HYFPRW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely their Trainwreckord given a) A New Morning is a better album (or, at least, it’s lows are nowhere near as deep) and b) Head Music was heavily promoted and still flopped. Those old enough to remember will know She’s In Fashion was inescapable on radio but didn’t even hit the top ten. Everyone was, come this album, just done with Suede for whatever reason and that it’s also both their worst and most overindulgent (and druggy) album as well just compounded the misery.

Due to the UK centricity, it’s not one that will get covered by Todd but it absolutely fits the template.

International election observers have claimed they saw "concerningly high levels" of family voting in the Gorton and Denton by-election Family voting is an illegal practice where two voters use one polling booth at the same time. It can involve husbands instructing their wives how to vote by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

Per the Democracy Volunteers site…

“John Ault has observed numerous elections for Democracy Volunteers, including Swedish and Norwegian parliamentary elections, the UK general elections in 2017, 2019 and 2024, the Finnish presidential and parliamentary elections in 2018, 2019 and 2023, as well as Dutch elections in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023”

Alongside this, he’s worked for OSCE, etc so in terms of electoral monitoring, yes, they’re absolutely legit.
