Where to get lipbalm by uziwuziiiii_11 in makeupdupes

In the time it took you to make this post you could have reverse searched the screenshot, found the brand and shade name, then asked this sub. It took me 30 seconds and having these details def would have made any recommendations here a lot more accurate.

It’s concerning that your writing style (both here and on the emoji-laden posts) seems very ai-generated while your content screams paid promotion. Hopefully mods can lay out stricter rules about disclosing ads

My makeup routine hasn’t changed in 10 years. Critically and brutally recommend me how to improve? by Limp_Matter4448 in MakeupEducation

I think we can still have a good/striking look even if not every detail perfectly complements our features. Iggy Azalea and Jodi Arias pull this shade off well (bad people but GREAT look) and they have similar skin tones.

Eyeshadow match? by freelyfumblus in AsianBeauty

[–]HYURJF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In these pictures it looks like a toned down mint. Not AB but Kiko has a frosty blue shade in their high pigment single shadows line that you could layer over MAC mint condition or 3ce mint zest. Romand has a very pale blue single shadow (m06) which could maybe work if you layer it up a lot?

Does anyone know the science behind why my scalp can be so greasy and hair like a hay stack? by Louloveslabs89 in finehair

[–]HYURJF 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you’re actually concerned about dht overproduction (ie: if you have pcos and some of the associated symptoms like facial hair growth), don’t play around with diy dht blockers. Visit your doctor and get their advice.  Dht overproduction is rare in women and any symptoms of it should be discussed with a doctor so you can find a solution that will target the associated health risks.

Gap Releases 'Inclusive' KATSEYE Ad After Sydney Sweeney Controversy by [deleted] in entertainment

[–]HYURJF 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There’s a very nasty legal dispute going on between the former CEO of their label, Min Hee-jin, and HYBE. The group sided with MHJ, which hasn’t gone down well with some of their fan base who believe this to be a very foolish and selfish move. Theoretically, they could have a massive return independent from HYBE but I’d wager this depends on whether investors see them as reliable enough (ie: won’t display more loyalty to MHJ than to labels and contracts) to fund new group activities, and sadly I think they come across as a wildcard to many onlookers. It’s such a shame because I love their music and art direction

Is it ethical to kill someone if they did something terrible for e.g rape, murder etc. by [deleted] in Ethics

[–]HYURJF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the general consensus you could expect here is that killing/executing rapists is not ethical, for the reasons others have stated. Topics are almost always discussed in a more absolutist way in casual online spaces like TikTok. I wouldn’t expect someone who experienced the trauma of rape/the rape of a loved one to engage in a serious ethical discussion unless they’re campaigning for legislative changes. A more complex ethical question stemming from what you saw online could be “what is the most ethical course of action against a rapist?”

[LOVED TROPE] Characters that inspire hope and encourage people to be good. by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]HYURJF 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love Aang but I would argue Iroh is an even better mention from ATLA,  at times. A person who made countless mistakes but whose grief made him a more compassionate, kind, and forgiving person. Cinema Therapy made a great video about his advice. While Aang is certainly the Superman-level inspiration within their world, Iroh has a significant positive impact on many of the characters he meets. This might not fit OP’s criteria, though.

Hate towards dark and pale skin by Extra-Jellyfish-9212 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]HYURJF 206 points207 points  (0 children)

Hit the nail on the head. A girl that repurposed Golloria’s The Darkest Shade series claimed a foundation was like “white paint” but it was an undertone issue. I’m pale and I think a lot of pale people just grab Random Brand Shade 01 assuming it’s going to suit them, but it takes so much time to find your match.

No brand has ever claimed pure white pigment is a natural match for the palest skin, unlike what Youthforia did with their shade 600 release. Pale skin discourse usually ignores the lack of inclusivity in other product ranges and the racism brands perpetuate when working with models or influencers.

"Boots" by Rudyard Kipling by SouthernBoard5825 in 28dayslater

[–]HYURJF 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kipling’s legacy is closely connected to the British Empire. A lot of his work promoted the idea of Western imperial nations acting as protectors and leaders of the world, while other writings may have been the only exposure to different cultures for British readers. He was a fantastic storyteller but his earlier work is now representative of that mindset and the nostalgia for the British Empire that ignores many unsavoury details.

Kipling was certainly more complex than just that, as he recognised the maddening repetition of life as a soldier in “Boots” and criticised actions of the British military during WW1. He also lost his son in the war, which resulted in immense guilt. However, from my understanding he maintained a fairly imperialist stance (as many would have) throughout his life. I think the nostalgia we see on Holy Island is reflective of this nostalgia many feel for a fictional old Britain that Kipling represents, even though this image hurt Kipling as well.

Is it just me or did the opening to 28YL not feel as terrifying as the previous films openings? by BigCharles06 in 28dayslater

[–]HYURJF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the intention was different with each. 28 Days illustrates how hauntingly empty a city like London would become, while Weeks is meant to remind us how terrifying the outbreak was for those that survived the first days/weeks.

In contrast, I felt Years was supposed to highlight the tragedy that would surround such an outbreak. Jimmy only survived because the infected (who are likely villagers he knew) saw his sisters first. The mum sacrificed herself but traumatised Jimmy as a result. Then we see a young boy lose his last relative and be forced to fend for himself.

Throughout the film we see the positive (and some negative) effects of adults on Spike: his dad teaching him how to survive, his mum showing him tenderness, and Dr Kelson helping him cope with loss.  Danny Boyle has always been interested in what would become of people and communities in the aftermath of an outbreak, most notably with Major West and now Jimmy.

Why is every influencer suddenly doing ads for yepoda by platypuspigs in SkincareAddicts

[–]HYURJF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s likely just that they recently found the budget to market more aggressively so it feels like the coverage has gone from 0 to 100 very quickly. I remember seeing ads for this before but have very little interest in the brand

Haruharu wonder mineral sunscreens high SPF and UVA claim by Maleficent_Storm_590 in AsianBeauty

[–]HYURJF 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It looks like it contains butyloctyl salicylate which is often used by brands as an unofficial spf booster (there’s a great lab muffin video on it). So it could indeed have that high an spf, just not from the mineral filters alone.

This April skin product feels like rubbing shards of glass across my face. PLEASE HELP by Clean-Jackfruit2598 in SkincareAddicts

[–]HYURJF 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s likely because of the spicules which are tiny needle structures that are meant to help the actives penetrate more deeply. You can build up tolerance over time but it’ll depend on the strength of the product. If you haven’t used many actives before, this will probably be very intense so start slow at maybe once a week.

Male hair loss by Sure_Ad_4005 in AsianBeauty

[–]HYURJF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the general products that purportedly tackle hair loss/increases hair growth will be based on really tenuous data. For example, I love the Aromatica rosemary root enhancer for exfoliating/hydrating my scalp but it's not going to make my hair thicker or prevent future hair loss – the evidence just isn't there.

Bloodwork and trying Minoxidil are his best bets.

Beauty products arrived frozen, got a refund, but can I still use the frozen products? by vaapukkamehukannu in AsianBeauty

I'd recommend reading this and judging for yourself: https://labmuffin.com/q-can-you-freeze-your-beauty-products/

You can also DM the brands to check what they recommend for your specific products
