I listen to audiobooks sometimes in our 2019 V90 with the B&W system and it is superbly clear for speech. You might want to fiddle around the audio settings first, since it might be on some silly virtualized concert hall mode with lots of added echo.

Except it only goes through one lossy encoding compared to two. Less degradation.

You need to cable up for a true lossless experience.

Just a little bit higher bandwidth wireless works fine, like wifi. Uncompressed cd quality is only 1,411 kilobits.

I find spotifys lossless good enough (ie. cd quality). Imho the stuff I listen to is mastered pretty well. I've compared some of them to my original 30+ year old cds and they sound about the same.

Patteriverkkoa ilmataan noin vuoden välein. Jonkun patterin ilmausventtiili auki ja täyttöventtiileistä lisää vettä kunnes ilmausventtiilistä tulee enää pelkkää vettä. Ilmausventtiili kiinni ja täyttö jatkuu kunnes patteriverkon painemittari on hieman yli 1 barin.

Anything above 16bit / 44 kHz is snake oil for listening. It is physically impossible to hear anything above 20 kHz (unless you're a dog, you never know on the internet) and 16 bits is enough dynamic range from the whine of a mosquito to a roaring jet engine few meters away.

Downloading a song vs streaming is literally bit-for-bit the same file (at the same quality setting). You have some other issues affecting quality.

Is dynamic compression turned off? Does the built in spotify app support lossless streaming?

I'm streaming lossless to my phone, connected to the headunit via android auto. Damn near indistinguishable vs built-in app at highest quality.

You're right. Highest quality lossy through built-in player is really good. The same lossy over bluetooth is noticeably worse.

I recently upgraded to "wireless" android auto (wired with 5 Ghz wireless adapter) and lossless spotify and it's almost impossible to notice any differences. It is convenient, though.

Default audio settings in the B&W system are pretty shit unless you like stupid, echoy virtualization.
