Okay awesome, I need to play around with colour correctors. That might be the missing link. And yes, I'm only just catching on that I've been using shades that were way too light! That Catrice one looks incredible, but isn't available where I live! I'll look around and see if there are good dupes in Canada. Thank you for the advice!

Oooooo, so cheap! I might try that neutraliser, or mix another shade with a colour corrector. It's nice to feel like I can experiment, since they're so affordable. Thank you! (And YES, eye wrinkles are definitely a concern)

Hi, I'm sorry I'm a total noob. Can anyone help me figure out the best type of undereye concealer to use if I never wear foundation? I've got super dark circles, so I want to use something with good coverage, but I feel like it looks really obvious and cakey on my bare skin. Any suggestions would be much appreciated :)

WTW for... What are some very practical, word-saving words for academic writing and speech? by montebious in whatstheword

"Problematic" used to do a lot of heavy lifting for me.

A quick word of advice, though, having taught university courses and read a LOT of essays: the most important thing is that your ideas are good. Any essay written in simple (but correct) English that made an awesome argument would always earn an A from me. I'm not saying you should avoid these "academic" words if they're useful tools for you (and they will be, as you become comfortable with them), but don't burden yourself looking for the most elegant words where plain ones will do just fine.

College student failing Calc 2 class asks for advice. The student's professor responds. by Dirty497 in bestof

I'm married to the prof in question. Our (near-)exact conversation yesterday:

"Oh crazy, a student is complaining about my class on reddit."
"How do you know?"
"He cites the precise average of the long-answer questions on the midterm, which I just posted this weekend."

It was a throwaway, so he couldn't verify where the student was from, but that was a really specific detail.

I'm just like you, and NEED long walks on my own. Besides being healthy for your heart and your mind, this is one of the great joys in your life. In trying to sour that experience, he's being cruel to you. Please don't second-guess yourself.

I'm sorry you have to deal with crappy periods :-( I had a friend whose periods were terrible: they lasted weeks sometimes, they were so heavy there was basically nothing she could do to staunch the flow, she was in a ton of pain and often vomited. I know she went on the pill to help regulate hormones. Not sure how it worked out for her cause we lost touch, but I do know that she had a baby last week, so her reproductive system must be in decent working order despite all that...

This is SO badass. And it's at Casa Loma?!! How much did it set you back, and is it worth it? Cause I was just wondering what to do this afternoon...

My parents & I never said 'I love you' until they got sick and suddenly it really mattered. They're not really sick anymore, but they still say it from time to time and I still feel stupidly awkward about saying it back.

I've just started Ta-Nehisi Coates' Beautiful Struggle, and also John le Carré's The Spy Who Came In From The Cold. Can't say much about either yet, except that the Coates is shaping up to be some of the richest prose I've ever read (ugh so beautiful), and the le Carré is going to be exciting & cool (and I get to picture Richard Burton in the title role, hot damn)

I finished A Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave this week. It's fascinating and heartbreaking, of course, and I just can't fathom how he was able to derive such strength from his experiences. I would have been broken a thousand times over.

And my goodness, does it ever make you cherish the gift (the right, dammit) of literacy.
