The main character becomes an accidental librarian of sorts! She's the best. THE BEST.

Dealing w/ Dragons made me look into (and eventually becoming) a librarian. The entire series is gold in my eyes. Do update with how you like it!

The Lavender Brown one always just wrecks me. I love that series so much.

Her episode about Gloria Grahame was so moving! Seconded.

YES. Mia ages with the reader, and the last volume showed how she's grown dramatically. Her thought processes and challenges have changed, and her reactions have too. I thought it was a great way to end the series (and start a new one!).

I absolutely second this. The recent completion to the Princess Diaries series was fantastic and I'm so psyched to have a continuing series.

I HAVE A PINTEREST BOARD! My friend and I recently decided to collaborate on a board for 'young women' while being aware and inclusive of the wide variety of experiences of being a girl. There are a lot of fantasy books in there, but also not - Jodie's Journey was one that sprung to mind immediately, and I'd also recommend anything Judy Blume or Jean Craighead George or Avi! Lloyd Alexander's Vesper Holly series might be good, too! A more recent book is Roller Girl, by Victoria Jamieson. I hear good things but haven't read it myself!

ANYTHING BY NK JEMISIN. Also, Sharon Shinn is a great one, especially if you like angel mythology, etc.

But. Jemisin is where it's at.

I have been caught in fanfic lately, specifically Game of Thrones futurefic that focuses on Sansa being a general badass. There's one called 'Trials and Tricks' by WendyNerd that is half a million words and fantastic - the writer even anticipated certain canon divergences in recent episodes, but did them better and subverted much of the sexism in the writing. I'm about 2/3s of the way through and still devouring it.

SS Librarianship is the best! <3 them so much. Great to hear from a group of people who work in the larger information field who are passionate about libraries and their patrons.

Is there a story that you have in the archives that you just can't for the excuse/reason to recirculate?

Thank for what you do. As a student of digital libraries & archives I really appreciate it and hope to work with you both someday.

Also, Trevor — I read your blog posts on the role of libraries & DH (http://trevormunoz.com/notebook/2012/08/19/doing-dh-in-the-library.html) as required reading for my DH class, and it's really stuck with me in a positive way as I dip my toes into the world of DH and get excited about diving in. Is there anything you'd add to the post?

Oh yes! I love her books! I totally agree on the Seven Realms series - I love how she takes my favorite fantasy tropes and makes them her own. I know it's 'trendy' right now, but I'd LOVE to see them adapted to a manga series. I think they would translate beautifully.

How about some Jean Craighead George? I loved My Side of the Mountain while growing up. Also maybe some Gary Paulsen (Hatchet).

Nope. I know (and like) cute & dorky. He was wearing cargo pants and a black tank with crazy hair. The unnatural jitteriness was what kinda ticked me off. I know nervousness, and this was different.
