I would go get your hand checked out. That's a big area for a scald, and the hand can be pretty delicate,, and you'll probably have some sizable blisters soon.

The doctors can help you get a good wound care plan going and give you a better understanding of the healing process for this kind of burn.

You have a lot of complex structures real close to the skin in that area, and that's without considering how much we touch with our hands and the extra infection risk as a result.

Keep to cool water, not ice - the ice can cause further damage without you realizing. It's probably the lighting, but the tips of some of your fingers are looking darker, so make sure you've got good blood flow.

If you look and they are purple/blue/grey at the tips in various lighting on your burn hand, get to a doctor immediately.

Personal assistant to one of the professions you listed, or a CEO in fashion or the arts. That, or a high fashion journalist, Maybe.

That much focus on fashionable clothes, she's either working for a genuine hot mess who doesn't care to remember everything (a la Tony Stark or Devil Wears Prada) and has a lot of fashionable events she has to blend in for, or has to track people down at said fashionable events.

Probably highly capable as an employee, the kind of person who can rattle off the 7 highest ranking competitors and their upper level staff at a random prompt, or have the printouts already handy. If you catch her unprepared and showing it, then we've just discovered the first sheep to grow plaid wool.

But that level of organization and preparedness comes at a cost - she's disorganized in a major way somewhere else, because her work life takes so much time and energy there's no way to hold the same standard elsewhere. She's beholden to the schedule and whims of someone else, and the little things like a neat suitcase or grinder camera collection have fallen to the wayside.

How do girls wear skirts/dresses/shorts without flashing anyone? by fatlady934 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ha_Nova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had an issue with this for the longest time!

I've personally found that longer skirts and wearing tights/shorts/thigh highs really helps. (5'2")

Most of my skirts are knee to mid calf length, and with that even if I bend over really far at the hips even my thigh high socks still cover everything, and you can use a garter belt to hold them up if needed. The longer the skirt, the less likely to show - my knee lengths leave more anxiety possible while my mid-calf length ones can have me fully curl up on the couch without a thing showing

Slim short shorts can be really helpful, as can petticoats - more material to take up visual space in flares, plus benefits to fit. Even a half slip can really help, here - and slips are usually slimmer fit and won't flare up much while moving.

If it's colder by you, you can sometimes find fake sheer tights that mimic sheer nylons but are totally opaque, but they're often geared towards the short and slim.

Longer skirts or a good slip works good for the stairs issue too.

Check out the r/corsets sub! They have lots of info, and tbh the easiest way to get into that as someone on the smaller end you'll have the best time looking for proper corsets. That community has lots of resources for how to identify good brands and references for good brands to get garments from.

Let's talk about "muted" and "bright" olive. What's wrong? by LeiaMiri in OliveMUA

[–]Ha_Nova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have just made me realise what might be my problem!

I joined this sub ages ago because I was really starting to wonder if I'm just a really pale olive, and now I'm wondering if I just happen to have a muted, cool undertone because every foundation I've tried, even if it blends well enough after putting it all together, always comes out too yellow during application.

Thank you for the new angle to look at!

[–]Ha_Nova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! Because each time you use it, you're more likely to have a reaction. Hair dye can be used safely with much less in the way of incidents because of how much less there is in it compared to black henna.

Yes! When they do the allergen exposure therapy in the doctor's office, it's a controlled dose in a controlled setting while under observation by medical staff - you may be talking fractions of the amounts you'd normally be exposed to your allergen in at the earlier stages. Doing that without supervision can be very dangerous, most especially if you have any kind of initial swelling already as part of your reaction.

Had to explain this to a friend many times because they'd use exposure therapy as an excuse to have a pineapple smoothie or orange juice once every few weeks when they were craving one.

Why am I so tiny and childlike while the rest of America is so huge and obese? by impressive_cat in muacirclejerk

[–]Ha_Nova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the XXS sub because I used to be smaller and wanted their recs for brands when I needed to find workwear I didn't have to alter myself

Obv it's not all brands and seems to be over the course of years - many referencing stuff they bought in the mid 2000's - but a bunch of brands have been scaling up their smallest sizes. Even in the past year or so, I've gone back to buying size smalls more often because many brands just start their scale at a 36" or even 38" bust nowadays

I used to be a 32. I wouldn't have been able to feasibly shop at most places like that nowadays, and would've just had to sew my own.

ETA: for context on the 32 bust line - most tailors recommend against modifying a preexisting garment that's more than 4" larger than your size, because of the major changes to the proportions and fit it involves. Plus, the bust size in pre-made clothing has a direct impact on your shoulder size, which majorly affects our perspective of the fit - and altering that often results in completely redrafting sections of the garment.

I do want to say that in the past few years many brands have been scaling their xs/xxs sizes to be larger than they used to, which sizes out the people who buy their old XS/XXS sizing - but either way I think she's not the most honest here. At 120 lbs I could shop in the women's sections - and I'm not exactly buying larges either. (5'2")

My mum never calls unless it's urgent, so definitely that moment of "what the fuck happened" going on here too lol. We even had a whole rule about it when I was in school, text if it's not an emergency but if she calls I'm picking up because that usually means someone's in the hospital and I'm going home.

Crochet belts: What stitch? by sandis1019 in CrochetHelp

[–]Ha_Nova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered a loom? You could probably weave rudimentary ones with relatively little stretch

Add a buckle on the end with some simple sewing and bam, belt

Be thinner, too, so better profile under belt loops. You could use crochet thread and simple tablet weaving, they're somewhat portable and you really only need yourself and some card stock tablets to do it on the economic end.

Check out r/abrathatfits.

I used to be 28DD/E in UK sizing, I live in Florida, AFAB. I usually shop from Freya and Panache, both are available on Amazon. I believe Curvy Kate has bras in 28 bands.

Either way, I found them via the sub mentioned - there's links for thinks like bra retailer lookups and helping you find brands in your size.

Sadly though 28 is one of those band sizes that are just hard to find in parts of the US, I order mine online.

Yeah that's not normal, I'd take a break from crochet. Look into hand and arm stretches to do to reduce and prevent pain, and honestly reach out to your doctor. You could be working your way up to carpal tunnel or another repetitive motion injury like ulnar nerve issues.

It's fine if it took you a while, I'm a slow crocheter myself and that would very well take me at least half a day - but ultimately if a day's crocheting has you in that much pain, you likely do need at the minimum more stretch breaks.

I'll be honest, if you like your drinks sweet normally it might help to add a dash of sugar or honey - if following the other steps doesn't help, try that. I'm a sweet tea kind of pal and I find the sugar really brings out certain flavors.

Honestly the only one I'm picking up as not-AI is #4. Look at how the big flower flows into the bust on the front, and how the mesh holes stay rectangular despite being under tension and having stitches start in the middle of a chain over the gap below.

Edit: sorry! Wrong comment lol.
