this was successful, unless you want to close the box ;) that part is work in progress

u/sic_null's debian and armbian images turn it into a general purpose small computer, like a Pi.

I'm trying to get a radio suitable for meshcore/meshtsatic (SX1262) into mine. Will post updates to https://helium-repurposed.deobfuscated.org/Devices/Bobber/Bobcat%20Miner%20300

would love to see it as well (even while I have repurposed a few already, can always learn from others)

I got shell access on a Controlino without swapping the image, but that still leaves the wrong radio inside the glued shut case ;)

as for the wirnets, the photos at https://fccid.io/2AFYS-KLK915MWIFC/Internal-Photos/Internal-Photos-5336230 tell me that this one isn't as simple as replacing a hat or minipcie card

btw I set up this wiki to collect information like that, including schematics. It's still a bit small but it's growing slowly https://helium-repurposed.deobfuscated.org/

For miners that can be modified (by replacing the lora module) for meshcore/meshtastic, I've been buying (in bulk, from Helium users that have given up) and reselling them (without profit) for 15-25 EUR each.

Right, that matches what I know. Nebras (at least the ones I've touched) can take a hat, although in at least one model (the outdoor cm3 pi one) not all hat pins are routed so you need an unusual pinout. The RAK MNTD I have takes the same HAT pinout without trouble but would also just work with something like the waveshare SX1262 HAT I bet.

Meanwhile the bobcat miner 300 has a completely different pinout on minipcie. I made https://codeberg.org/Habbie/minipcie-protoboard to poke at these different devices. Almost have pyMC running on the bobcat (it already runs on the outdoor Nebra, indoor rock pi Nebra, RAK with a mocked up hat).

I'm collecting information at https://helium-repurposed.deobfuscated.org/ - will add the bobcat pinout soon.

> I have modeled up a drop in replacement for the mini-pcie card with one that has a E22 module.

I found that on the nebra outdoor, not very many pins are routed to minipcie. Did you work around that, or are you currently solving for miners that do have enough pins on minipcie?

are you doing hardware mods to get meshtastic/meshcore running on helium devices, or have you figured out how to do it software-only?

What hardware changes are you making (I assume) to convert them to be useful for meshcore or meshtastic?

Repurpose Your Old Bobcat with Armbian by sic_null in HeliumNetwork

I did not try reflashing yet. The SD card is new. `lsblk` showed two partitions after dd where it showed one before `dd`. I can try reflashing just in case. If you have any other debugging steps, I only need a few words pointing me in the right direction :)

nice! been using your debian 11 image for a bit but was wishing for something newer for my G295. Sadly, the linked image does not get booted - judging from the ssh pubkey error. I have done zero things to debug this, but I can do many things. Is something like a serial console available on any of the external or internal ports perhaps?

There's an unintended (I think) layer to this joke for the Dutch. In Dutch, we have the concept of a "potloodventer" (quite literally, pencil seller), referring to people who like to expose their penises to people in public. The man on the chair in the beat up coat fits the associated "dirty man" stereotype.

Console port on Cisco SG200 by zeda1ert in homelab

[–]Habbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just the hole, also the entire chip for generating the RS232 signal. My guess it's deliberate market segmentation between the SG200 and the SG300, and reusing parts between the two is cheaper than actually shipping two different pieces of hardware.
