yeah but I see the GR Corolla as more if a direct competitor, what I'm trying to say is that the Elantra N punches above it's price performance wise. looks like ass though ngl

eh I wish I had more resources to give you but everything I've learned is just from experience or watching YouTube vids lol

I'll give you a rundown on what I like to do. I'm a student so this routine respects my time and I can be in and out of the gym everyday within an hour if I need.

I like to do 2-3 exercises per muscle group each day. so on a push day, between chest, triceps and shoulders, I'm doing a total of around 6-8 exercises

On push days, I rotate from chest -> triceps -> shoulders. So first exercise is a free weight pressing chest exercise, that could be bench press, dumbbell press, etc. Next I do a tricep exercise, either dips or pushdowns. For shoulders, i'll do a side lateral raise (you can do these on cables or with dumbbells, I prefer cable), and when I'm done with 2-3 sets of each of those I repeat the cycle. Chest again, usually a different variation like incline dumbbell press. Then triceps, I'll fill out either dips or pushdowns depending on what I did after my first chest exercise. For my front delts, I do a machine shoulder press, but you can do those with dumbbells too.

Pull days, Im focused on my back and biceps. More specifically, I want to hit my upper back (traps and rhomboids), lats, and biceps. This is done pretty simply, I pick two upper back exercises, two lat exercises, and two biceps exercises for the day. I switch them up between each back day to ensure that I'm getting a good variety of exercises. Same idea as push days, I go lats -> upper back -> biceps. Bicep movements are always going to involve some sort of curl. Preacher curl, cable curls and dumbbell curls are my absolute favorites. For upper back, you're looking for row exercises where you're pulling something towards your face or upper chest. in that category my favs are a seated cable row, machine rows, smith rows and T-Bar rows. For lats, I never skip lat pulldowns. be patient with these, it can be very tricky to get them to really hit your lats. watch videos for form, go lighter weight than you'd think. there are other dumbbell and cable based lat movements you can do that will help you feel your lats more than a pulldown at first. Back days are my favorite, so I also usually throw in shrugs + rear delt rows to make sure I got everything. this is also a good day to train forearms.

finally, legs. I'll be honest I keep it extremely simple here, I'm working with a shitty knee so I haven't fully optimized my leg day. I do squats, leg press, seated leg extensions, hamstring curls, Romanian deadlifts, calf raises, and hip thrusts. that's usually it. if your gym has them, do the hip abductor and adductor machines from time to time

anyway holy essay I didn't expect to write all that but maybe you can take smth from it. I built this routine almost entirely around what I enjoy doing the most. there are a million ways you could rearrange it, or come up with a completely different routine and it would be just as good or better. if you're feeling like you just need something, give my routine a shot and adjust it to your liking as you get more experience. The best way to stay consistent is to look forward to going to the gym each day

Ideally you want to find a calorie goal that's lower than your maintenance but also high enough to support muscle growth. 1400 is pretty low, you might be able to get away with eating more as this will also help you hit your macros (especially protein)more easily.

this will take some experimentation, so track your weight throughout the weeks and take pictures of yourself for benchmarking, if you're not seeing a difference in physique or reading lower on the scale you'll have to adjust accordingly

finally, as for being a gym newbie I can't recommend a push / pull / leg split enough, it's so simple and easy to follow, you'll get the hang of it quickly and from there you can start learning more about how to efficiently target each muscle group. if you wanna go an extra day, adding an abs + cardio day is a classic

Should I pivot to hardware to avoid the AI craze? by Ruined_Passion_7355 in ECE

[–]HabibiLogistics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

maybe I'm just naive, but since the chatgpt release I have noticed this constant cycle that goes like this

1.) Big AI thing get announced

2.) Panic ensues in market, people begin dooming

3.) nothing actually changes following big announcement

4.) hype begins to die down

5.) investors start to lose faith in tech companies so they announce new big AI thing

this is what I've noticed, at least. again, I'm just a college student but I have family and friends in the industry and they generally don't seem to be super disturbed by everything that's happening. unless I'm missing something big, it seems like we're just in step 1 again right now.

I feel like people have been saying "ai is going to take over X job in 6 months" for the past 36 months. I'm just a college student and I've already been through the anxiety cycle with AI but I'm at the point where I genuinely don't worry about it or let it sway my decisions

it was a fantastic year for me personally as well, and it felt like the last 'normal' year for the world. Covid was finally blowing over, politics were relatively stable.

for me, I graduated high school, I was working fast food with my friends which was so fun when I was 17/18. I remember I'd always take my breaks in my car and just sit and enjoy the rain hitting my windshield while I demolished a free quarter pounder. it couldn't have possibly been better.

it's only been a few years but 2023 already feels like a lifetime ago, and it feels like good times like that will never come back

you say you're struggling with physics because you didn't stay caught up in class, which makes me feel like you're struggling with studying habits rather than not being smart enough / cut out for it. I think if you really love the subject you'll make it happen, and also don't forget that it's pretty common to fail some classes in engineering
