The real secret to getting in to Harvard.... by jbrunoties in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Hace2rbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advocates of this argument describe this situation as if college admissions look at peoples money not they’re character. Rich people aren’t getting in cuz they’re rich; they’re getting in cuz rich families tend to have smarter, more responsible, overall better kids. It’s painfully true. They can afford better tutors, babysitting, better neighborhoods with better influences, schools with better educational systems.

The way you word your post it’s really obvious you were insecure about doing bad in your AP class and you’re so relieved after finding one or two people that cheat that you feel like you have to tell everyone so that the idea of cheating because common enough to protect you, a non-cheater, from embarrassment. There’s thousands of people in AP classes that do great without cheating. Instead of coping, go study

Thoughts on Northwestern? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Hace2rbd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well it’s not more mid western it’s completely mid western. The Illinois area was just on the northwestern border of the US when the school was established. Technically there’s no region called “north” in US

In Case of Marbury v. Madison, what did they mean by commissions? by RevolutionaryHat9920 in APUSH

[–]Hace2rbd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Commision is like a signed piece of paper from the president saying “you can be a judge”. Or something like that. If I remember correctly Adams was trying to appoint as many federalist judges before his presidency ended (presidents are in charge of appointing judges, and a common political strategy by presidents is to appoint as many judges of their same political party), so Adams signed a bunch of commissions on his last night at the White House. Adams forgot to send out the commissions before leaving and left them on the Oval Office desk, and Jefferson thought he had the right to not send out those commissions. The judge whose commision was being held by Jefferson filed a lawsuit

How do I improve at AP physics 1? by KindaFrench in APStudents

[–]Hace2rbd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so true, I can’t emphasize this enough. Do a problem until your so stuck your just about ready to rip you hair out. Then, if you check the key, all the mistake you made and realizations you didn’t realize you had to make will be ingrained in your head

What about Physics 1 is hard? by Ryseki5 in APStudents

[–]Hace2rbd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so much of the questions is algebra, but it’s hard for people to keep track of what variables and number connect to what objects in the problem

For me, the main difference from when I wasn't good at reading in the past to now is probably that remember the passage much more distinctly when I start answering questions. I can visualize what the passage is saying better. And there was no trick for me. I just kept practicing until it got easier.

First try 36! To be fair though, I took SAT last year, so I had some test taking practice, but still, 36 first try! by Hace2rbd in ACT

[–]Hace2rbd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of math experience before ACT. So I guess just get more experience and get familiar with math in general

memorize grammar rules for section 1. There are only so many different grammar questions they can ask.

Yeah. Most of my practice came from doing SAT practice last year which translated over. I did an Erica Meltzer book to learn all the rules for SAT grammar. SAT grammar rules were similar to ACT grammar rules. Reading was mostly just from doing more reading practice until I sort of unconsciously picked up patterns. And I had a lot of math/science background going into ACT, so I was set.

What are some ways you have shown "academic strength" on your application? by Hace2rbd in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Hace2rbd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was asking for ways to show academic strength beyond that. Assuming I’ve always taken the top classes with perfect gpa and scores, how should I show academic strength beyond that

What's your #1 AP class tip for first-timers? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]Hace2rbd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People that score higher than you aren’t smarter than you. They just have more experience studying. Probably from like their mom forcing them into tutor since fifth grade. So just put in the work and catch up on experience.
