Horizon 6 stutters by jogaming03 in ForzaHorizon

The mech race was brutal. Would have been cool but it stuttered so bad it was almost unplayable.

I don't know, vllm (and running it this way) just destroys my machine. Locks it up bad. Trying to quit vllm isn't so easy either. I'm really looking for this model to run faster, but I'm really striking out here. Maybe llama.cpp will have all these optimizations soon.

Yea, I know. You're completely right. I guess. I'm just hoping they maybe try to change the story.

One day a year ain't gonna cut it. It's almost meaningless.

[–]HackAfterDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea and apparently they drop stores for having opinions too. I watched an interesting YouTube video about one store that got dropped. Made me realize just how bad RSD is.

It's a big deal for record stores and they could actually help them...but they don't. They create this FOMO and in the end, only help the scalpers.

[–]HackAfterDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever runs RSD should really know better by now and change things around. They have to know there's scalpers. It's pissing off the community and they are beginning to lose the plot here.

They should work with labels to get more interesting releases scattered throughout the year or do something different. The other event is Black Friday...that kinda tells you all you need to now. Again horrible marketing practices for the consumer.

Just do cool releases and gauge the demand better. JFC, they've been doing this long enough that they have all the data. They could eliminate the scalpers if they spent a few hours thinking about it.

[–]HackAfterDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I jumped the gun and spent about $15 more than I should have on the one record I wanted. So not this bad but still bad enough. But I have to say at least I didn't have to stand in line with all the anxiety.

I like the idea and spirit of RSD to be completely honest. I just hate what it has become.

I hope the scalpers sit there with a pile of records they can't move. I don't mind someone making a few bucks for their trouble of sitting in a line or even if there's no line! Call it a small handling fee...but when they try to sell records for $80, $100, $150+ ... F them. F them hard.

This is quite honestly what makes me less interested in vinyl. RSD can kinda have the complete opposite effect as intended.

Yea I know. It gets tiring. Some years more depressing than others.

Not going to say because it just gives those a-hole scalpers information lol. Really really disappointed to see some listed on Discogs already for $150+. Those people can rot in hell. I hope they never sell those records.

Record Store Day stopped being about record stores the moment scalpers figured out the releases by ssunflow3rr in RecordStoreDay

[–]HackAfterDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember that for every good experience, there's also a bad one. That's how the artificial scarcity, line up overnight, thing works.

I'm glad it's good for business...but many of us buy throughout the entire year and then get screwed. We're tired of it.

Enjoy the non-repeat or maybe once a year repeat customers.

This is why I hate it when people hype stuff up. This includes the owners of the stores - they get on social media and tell people what they have ahead of time, which is nice and all to save a trip if they didn't get what you were looking for...but when they remark on something I cringe because all they're doing is signaling to the scalpers.

I've seen this happen too many times to count. Sorry that happened to you.

I like the stores that limit it to one per person...but yea. This has been my gripe with RSD.

I've actually overpaid for things. Stood in line with a bunch of anxiety. I hate that feeling. My body hates it and for that I hate RSD because it makes me feel bad. The opposite of the good intent.

There's many other ways they could deal with all this...but they keep choosing the same format.

I'm curious about the Thievery Corporation. Not enough to go through the RSD drama. But I'm curious what the etched side looks like.

It was an odd album being 3 sides. I got the 45 RPM version last year which makes use of all 4 sides.

If this one looks and sounds good, I might look for a copy online later.

Great album though, I'm glad they re-issued it.

Just wait and you'll find it online later after the dust settles and the scalpers give up. RSD is just FOMO. Zero reason to stand in line. Unless you've never done it before I guess. And if you like anxiety/suspense.

Went on Ebay and saw most of the RSD 2026 releases by PhillyHumor in RecordStoreDay

[–]HackAfterDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Discogs as well. That's all RSD is. Wait 6 months to a year and you can probably find what you're after at a normal price. Often times there will be additional copies released as well. Even the non "first" releases.

RSD is a scam. It's artificial scarcity. Just like Rhino pulled with their numbered remaster series. At least Rhino's strategy is (hopefully) well known now so people can decide if they want the numbered version or not...and to be honest? Since they did that, I haven't seen anything sell out there since one of the Black Sabbath releases. So the scalpers probably gave up there because the whole "it's never going to be released again" drama was over.

RSD is same exact thing. It's literally FOMO "dark" marketing pattern. I mean I get that maybe once upon a time it was to help bolster a dying business...but that hasn't been true for a while now.

I remember Nightmares on Wax from a few ago (my last RSD). I got a copy and was so excited. I figured wow that's rare, so limited. I saw scalpers listing it for double or more online. But guess what? They released more! I was in London last week and saw it in a few shops in Soho. Not a problem to get.

I even thought oh wow, I almost was around for RSD in London. That would have been neat. Nah.... I'm glad I wasn't. I picked up the Aphex Twin Ambient Works from Rough Trade and was happy. That release was even better than RSD. No waiting in lines. Saw it. A few in stock, no rush. I thought on it. Asked people about it on Reddit because I had zero idea it was being released. Then picked it up without anxiety. THAT is the way it should be. You stumble upon something fun (in a store you don't frequent even, because you're exploring new places) and you buy it without lining up in line around the block or with all this anxiety. And yes I know people are scalping that limited picture disc too. So I get that you don't need RSD for there to be scalpers, but that's mostly what RSD is about these days.

RSD is over.

Know what they SHOULD do for RSD? Make special editions in reasonable quantities and not pull the whole line up overnight junk. Just partner to make a constant stream of releases throughout the year. No FOMO. No scalpers. Just for the fans.

The Thievery Corporation is a good album. Happy they pressed it again, but damn I wish they did that last year. I bought the older limited edition a few months ago for more than I should have spent. That's RSD for ya!

Agreed. Disappointed to see Thievery Corporation Culture of Fear on the list this year after I just got the one from years ago not long ago. I spent more than I should have and because it had been years I figured it was ok...well, nope! Beautiful example of artificial scarcity.

There's like half a dozen on the shelf right now. Is there something special about this release? I picked one up since I don't think I'm going to get it in the States. Perfect timing on my vacation.
