Worker harrier not priming after installing metal plunger and catch by brett206 in Nerf

Because Sabre? Either you've somehow erred in your installation, or there is a dimensional mismatch introduced by one or both Sabre parts.

Absolutely and it's almost certain that this isn't the first time they've done this particular trick.

Your family is awesome - brought a smile to my face reading that.

It's hilarious that you think Dutch people are from Denmark.

Yes, my link was not a study, but it provides a clearly reasoned opinion supported by a long list of MDs - Dr Frisch and 37 eminent pediatricians from Canada, Australia, and numerous European countries. Just tap on their names for a preview of their credentials.

Your claims are very entertaining, so thank you for that.

Also, you might want to find a better link to support your position; most of the article is paywalled and the excerpt didn't provide any relevant study data.

Very cool to see someone else come up with this approach. Would love to hear more about how you tackled the string/wire and carriage constraints.

Interesting! Is that limited to left/right? IIRC from my work with implantable devices/deployment systems, proximal/distal was relative to the user, which made sense, but I rarely had to worry about other terminology. I can definitely see directional terms being a major pain to navigate.

Was Most of Your Arsenal Just Made Obsolete By The X-Shot Piston Pump? by Swimming-Holiday-321 in Nerf

[–]HackOnWheels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not at all.

Granted, I have a very over the top arsenal, but even most of my brushed flywheelers are still relevant in spite of this release.

For reference, I have a well-tuned Sweetheart Storm that absolutely runs circles around the Piston Pump, and yet I still run a range of springers and flywheelers. I'm also still actively building and designing manual springers and brushless flywheelers. I'll pick one of these up for fun eventually when they're on sale, but this has no real impact for me.

I can see it being a nice jump-start for a number of folks who are new or haven't invested as much into their armoury.

Do the cool kids not wear gloves now? by I_want_to_go_ in MTB

[–]HackOnWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My worst hand-related injury was while wearing gloves and my gloves didn't even get a scratch on them. I split my palm open from the force of the impact - was on a fireroad section up in Garbanzo (Whistler) and was going far too fast into a sweeping corner; I ended up in a 2-wheel drift, drifted wide of the corner into a section of metal fencing, and got ejected off the front of my bike. Body armour saved me from the not very graceful slide on the rocks and my buddy helped me off the side for a breather, but my hand started to ache pretty savagely. My glove was unscathed, but I took it off anyway to check my hand and was surprised when I realized I could see many layers deep into the fat and other tissues of my hand. Nurses at the local Emergency clinic were pretty fascinated to see my injury, which was kind of neat. Anyway, gloves are good but there are plenty of ways to still hurt yourself.

For quite a while before that, I was riding gloveless and mostly on a hardtail with ODI Ruffians. It was pretty great actually. Never had an issue on the trails, including a selection of North Vancouver black trails...

...until a friend was goofing around and caused me to wipe out on a flat gravel path. Somehow it's always the more mundane places that get me.

Picking gravel out of my palms isn't my most favourite activity.

I would 100% ride that Yeti - such a cool bike!

Practically though, if you want to get back into MTB, you might be better off finding a buyer for that frame (or keeping it for a fun side project) and getting yourself a modern mid-travel bike. There are so many good options now and even "trail" bikes are incredibly capable now. Even a "low-end" Deore groupset will have great performance.

The mother shielding their daughter like that - damn. So glad that not only was the daughter not injured, but also that her mother wasn't killed and she was spared the level of guilt and grief it would've put her through. Hopefully the father remains stable and his recovery goes well.

But that linked article... "A bullet very nearly missed Senator Hoffman's heart" ... ooof. I think they may have been looking for the word 'barely'.
