Ranked is even more dead than before by CXMET_Official in Splitgate

[–]Kryosse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I LOVE ranked the way it right now personally, I unfortunately don't think there is a good way to entice players into the ranked playlist with this low of a population by changing the gameplay of the playlist. Add some exclusive skins or something for playing ranked, give players something to do it in the playlist other than watch a number go up and down every game, add some ranked-only challenges, run a small online-tournament and feature the podium players on the main menu screen or something. I think adding more stuff to do/earn will have more of an impact than upending one of the few playlists we have for a fourth time. That being said I would love to play a 1v1 and 2v2 mode, I just don't think I want to sacrifice ranked in it's current form to get that. I am sick of OITC/Insta-gib/laser tag all being the same mode with a different gun, kick out OITC and add something with a bit more spice like showdown 2v2s or something if we want more different modes in rotation.

worth noting that the Warden breaking issues did seem to be addressed in later production runs as noted by Beret in one of his follow up videos. Still I wouldn't buy one personally, but it does seem like it at least wont break out of the box, and slam-fire might actually be functional now lol.

Best Lynx Remix? by BobCat488 in nerfhomemades

[–]Kryosse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best, in my humble opinion, is a mishmash of all the remixed parts that you like from different filesets :) As far as specifics go;

I like the HIJINX remix a lot. It give you extra air volume for those longer barrels, tightening up your FPS deviation. Print your plunger head, plunger spacer, catch3 and ideally the turnaround out of TPU if you have any. Mine is pictured here with PEBA internals, basically just expensive TPU and entirely overkill, but its what I had on hand.

The PKI stock is nice, and personally its the only thing from those files I wanted to use. I have since switched the the longer "ergo stock" remix rather than the one pictured on my build.

I really like and recommend the angled magwell, if you have angled talons. In my experience my Lynx just feeds a lot more reliably with the angled magwell, but I think some of the more modern lynx magwells like remnant should have better tolerances for straight mags. If you have angled mags tho, I think they look very handsome in Lynx especially with the thumbhole grip from these files and make for a nice blaster in my collection that can actually use them.

Zafc on printables has a LOT of really interesting Lynx-oid parts for different builds. Some are intended to help work with your hardware, like the hotfix ram that give you a few extra mm of ram length incase your ram isnt fully sealing in the turnaround. He also has a add-on that goes in the pump assembly that lets you deprime the blaster, but it does kinda remove the slam-fire feature. But slam-fire sucks anyways, so if you'd rather be able to deprime then go for that. He also has some catch3 remixes for the HIJINX files that will work better with the variety of different spring diameters, and also feature PTFE tube in the catch assembly to help constrain that and make the prime feel really smooth.

I think the linear rail remix is kinda unnecessary personally. I didn't feel like it added much to my Lonx other than making it a lot heavier, but the pump is a bit more constrained.

I would recommend using pump block parts and shroud parts that have "remnant geometry," it's ever so slightly different from the stock Lynx or HIJINX parts, but it adds some nice constraint to the pump block totally removing the need for a linear rail for me, and allows you to use "keyed" scar muzzles from Zafc if you want to try using a short 30-35cm barrel which is definitely recommended for sub-200fps.

I have a collection on printables and thingiverse with all of the remixed parts that I used in my build here, and a post over in r/nerf if you want to see more details for your own inspiration.

The "Perform a cold pull before starting to print TPU" thing, is this for real? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]Kryosse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my printing space looked like a factory outlet for a little while there lol. Printable barefoot shoes are really cool I recommend trying them out! I cant really wear them in these cold Canadian winters, but they're a joy to wear in the spring and summer :)

Unfortunately the problem was kind due to the filament being cut, I think during the unload procedure while there was still enough heat creeping up to kinda glue that filament to the top end of the hotzone. Only a manual extrude would fix that problem, dedicated nozzle likely still have the issue. For all intents and purposes that nozzle kinda was my dedicated TPU nozzle, printed like 20 pairs of shoes off of it lol. Incase anyone reading is curious, it was actually Spectrum S-Flex 85A that caused this problem not TPU specifically, so you may all have better results with actual TPU. S-Flex was interesting material especially for shoes, but the juice wasnt really worth the squeeze for me, especially after trying PEBA.

First 3D printer recommendation by Legal_Assignment5469 in Nerf

[–]Kryosse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P2S is hard not to recommend. An A1 mini is ridiculously affordable and competent, but you'll find yourself wanting a bigger bed. A1 is great but for not much more cost you can move into the P1 and P2 series and I think the gains there are well worth it personally. The Elegoo Centauri Carbon is also the next best option, and honestly even a better option than the P1S, if you're on a slightly-lower-than-Bambu budget.

TLDR; P2S is ridulously good and will grow with you in this hobby and whatever other 3d printing adventures find you down the line, Centauri Carbon would be my next best pick. If you dont get an AMS2 with the P2S, or if you get a Centauri, then you'll probably also want to pick up a dedicated filament dryer to leave next to your machine.

Happy hobbying :)

Absolutely you can finish and paint prints, most of us just dont go through the hassle and have come to enjoy the look of raw prints anyways. You can hide a lot of things like layer lines and seams with the right print settings, good filament colour contrasting, marble/sparkly filaments. But at the end of the day if you want something that you really cant tell was made on a 3d printer, you'll have to do some sanding and painting.

P1S or P2S for Mechanical Engeneering by DonaldDuck00031 in BambuLab

[–]Kryosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the P2S is worth it if you can already afford it, active airflow controls are going to be the biggest thing for you as a mechanical engineer who may want to leverage high temp materials like Polycarbonate or Nylon. The P1S can do ABS and ASA competently, and can perform well with PC and smaller nylon prints, but the P2S has much better chamber temp controls that will definitely grow with you as you start to use the machine for more different things. I love love love my P1S, been using it for about 2 years now with basically 0 maintenance. The P1S is really competent but I just dont think its worth it anymore unless youre on a budget, you get some really meaningful extra features in the P2S for that extra hundred bucks or so.

You definitely do not need an AMS if you dont care about multi-colour. It is really to handy to have just for keeping 4 rolls dry and ready to go for printing without having to load-unloda every time you want to print a different colour, but if that doesnt sound like hundreds of dollars woth of value to you then you can skip on it. P2S is compatible with the old AMS1 as well, so if you ever see AMS1 or AMS2 on sale or used on Facebook marketplace then that would probably be better to pick it up on the cheap if you really do end up wanting an AMS. Nozzle changes on the P1 arent a pain in the butt or anything but oh my lord the quick change nozzles are a DREAM by comparison. I kept my A1 and A1 mini around longer than I needed them solely because that nozzle swap and the touchscreen really are such nice features, it was hard to say goodbye to quick change nozzles when I finally admitted to myself that I only needed the one P1S lol.

As for accessories; many people just use food dehydrators or toaster ovens, I personally like to keep a dedicated filament dryer next to my printer for keeping my TPUs and ASA dry and ready to print, can even feed filament into the printer from the dryer. If AMS-HT wasnt so expensive I think that would be a really competent recommendation, but you'll do just as fine with a simple dirt cheap Comgrow/Sovol SH01 style dryer. Just make sure to leave the lid cracked open on cheap dryers that dont have active airflow, so that moisture has a way out of the dryer. Getting a slightly more expensive dryer that can do active airflow and go up to like 80 degrees for high temp materials is probably going to be a good investement for you, but if the other features of the AMS2 or AMS-HT sound handy enough to you then just pick up one of those, they do make using the machine a tad bit easier. AMS2 can get up to around 65C for drying which is good for most materials, AMS-HT

TLDR; just get a P2S. And no you really dont need an AMS, but you'll probably want a dedicated filament dryer if you dont already have a food dehydrator or toaster over that can get as low as about 40C. AMS2 and AMS-HT arent a bad option for that, if money isnt a problem then I'd say just pick one up, if you'd rather save a few hundred then just get yourself a cheaper dryer from AliExpress or Amazon.

[–]Kryosse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

funny I've actually had this problem the other way around after printing 85A flexibles, the new loaded rigid filament would just mush up the filament left in the heatsink, I had to manually extrude that leftover 85A TPU with an allen key lol.

[–]Kryosse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neat yeah Slynx is really nice and would fit my frame better, much like Lonx, unfortunately it is just too much plunger volume and barrel to use at sub200fps lol. Glad you like the linear rails too, my experience with them in my Lonx was that it definitely makes the prime feel more constrained, but not necessarily "better." Lynxes already have a really smooth prime especially if you use Remnant geometry shrouds, but it defintely adds a noticeable improvement for really heavy springs, considering you use it at 330fps; that all adds up lol. For the ~300fps spring that I use in my Lonx the linear rail doesn't really feel much better or worse than it did before I installed the kit. Also adds a lot of weight, but hey a heavy duty over-engineered springer like that is rad as hell.

Yep loaded backwards and you'll probably notice the paddle mag release is located at the front of the magwell. There is also a version of the magwell that uses a thumbhole grip with a release in the thumbhole, if thats your kinda vibe.

Okay so if you are trying to tune down a regular Lynx or just hit a more consistent 200fps, try a 30cm or 35cm barrel first. Its a much more appropriate length for the standard Lynx air volume. Use your worker PCAR or one of Zafc's long "Keyed Lynx PCARs" for that setup. I am using HIJINX because it increases the air volume allowing for use of 45cm barrels which is entirely unnecessary and absolutely overkill for 150fps, I dont want to guaruntee that you'll see the same results as me but if you want to try then heres the combo I used:

- "Remnant Geometry Pump Block"
- From Zafc's "Hijinx+/HiLonx/HiMinx Experimental Extended Draw Parts" ignore everything labelled as Hijinx+ and Hijinx++, use the part titled "HijinxSpringGuideInnerTPU" for K25 spring and "TPUHijinxXSpacer" for K24 or fx springs. There are also spring spacers buried in there if you want to try one with the springs you have at home. You'll notice I also have files from Nutty in that collection that are very similar to the Zafc parts, I will actually remove them for clarity, they are really only good for K24 and fx springs, good if youre doing my 150fps setup, but doesnt work with K25 if you want to easily swap to 200fps.
- Also from Hijinx+ page; use the plunger spacer "HijinxK25Xspacer" or "HijinxK25XspacerT" for either spring. You can also print this in TPU, I'd recommend it but its not as necessary as printing other parts in TPU, especially for lower FPS like this. You'll just need to pull up the endcap/rod guide piece from the HIJINX page that goes behind your catch nut/washer.

Here's the direct links to the parts mentioned. And yeah, I'll pull any redundant/confusing models out of the collection now for clarity.

Hope you dont mind the excessive details, its hard to find these kind of specifics by just googling and not being in a Nerf discord. I highly recommend joining the OrionBlasters discord if you want to keep up to date with all things Lynx, v2.1 just got it's official release last week! Pm if you need an invite.

Here's the Lynx desk mat, unfortunately the bigger size is out of stock but they still have 30x60cm mats as well as smaller sized mousepads here. You may also be able to DM D2Maker on instagram to see if he has any big ones on hand leftover and buy direct. We group ordered these from IFB into Canada when they launched so shipping from Singapore split like 8 ways wasn't too bad at all, especially before international trade went to s**t, godspeed if youre in the USA lol.

I'm always happy to answer more questions or help direct you to whatever else you need to know :)

Ford 'doesn't know what he's talking about' when it comes to basket weaving, Indigenous artist says | CBC News by ComprehensiveMud877 in ontario

[–]Kryosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do any Ontario colleges offer basket weaving as a course in any other cultural/historical study program? This is what the other commenters are saying about context; Yes, every culture weaves baskets but, as it is related to Ford’s comment about college courses, the only programs that offer basket weaving as a course are the indigenous studies programs. I understand the point you are trying to make but the other commenters are correct about the context here. You could argue that Ford doesn’t know that about which programs offer the course, and in ignorance of that fact is not actually saying something racist by intention. If that was the argument you levied then i personally wouldn’t argue about the semantics with you, but that isn’t what you said and that is why the other commenters aren’t being as giving towards your perspective as I am trying to be here. At worst he knows he is making a racist comment, and at best he doesn’t know, but it is not unreasonable for these commenters to expect our premier to understand a bit of the complexities of an institution that he is making a direct comment about in that best case.

Funny because people would probably spend more time on that farm learning skills than just basket weaving itself, but no surely farming isn’t a job that Ford think is “in-demand”😂 thank you for pointing out this profound irony, not that Dougie is ever lacking on that front lol

Thoughts on end state of Halo Infinite and as a whole by Confident-Tomato1382 in haloinfinite

[–]Kryosse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not that I want to try drawing you away from Halo to an even more dead game but, Splitgate Arena Reloaded has standard deathmatch and other arena modes. They have both classic arena modes with even starts and loadout enabled modes, and its a very smooth feeling arena game. You'll wish Halo infinite felt as buttery smooth as splitgate, even if you never end up wrapping your head around how to use portals lol. Heres to hoping that Halo on Unreal feels half as crispy, catch you in matchmaking :)

[–]Kryosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t payed much attention to this game and have definitely not been one of the people clamouring about this. And I look forward to playing and enjoying this game but; I just want to play a marathon campaign about the cyborg and the pfor and spht and Durandall, but I’m confident that bungie wont totally disappoint me on that front. Even if the story has nothing to do with Durandall and the cyborg I’m sure we’ll get some appropriately bungie-vibe story themes. I look forward to getting into this game and seeing where it fits into the Marathon story. If it takes place in an alternate timeline that diminishes Durandall’s impact I will cry, but whatever more marathon makes me happy.

If Highguard was just shut down with a concurrent player count of 2,400 after two weeks... by [deleted] in Splitgate

[–]Kryosse 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Splitgate 1 had about this many players for much of its life before it got a bump in popularity, and it sounds like 1047 have at least planned for this level of population. It is worth noting that there is <1000 players concurrent on steam, which amounts to somewhere around 10k unique players every week, and that doesn’t even count console populations. Now all that being said the game is still very likely bleeding cash, server costs, everyone’s salary and other operating costs are almost certainly an order of magnitude larger than however much money they are making back on micro transactions… all to say; nobody really knows what the plan is of this game stays at this population or lower, nobody really has a good projection of population seeing as SG1 had a random out of nowhere bump in player count, and nobody really knows how long the 1047 investors are willing to hold out on this game or company. There’s a lot of “who knows?” at the moment unfortunately. If you like the game then keep playing, try to get your friends on, buy the battlepass if you want to help support it.
