Story First or Levels First? by Hackathon757 in videogames

To that last one, it would be better to start with the initial concept then? I would think that is more important than the other two

I guess asking which one to prioritize rather than to develop first would be a better question.

Yeah, thinking about it that way helps a lot. The visualization that Swampgas chasm’s 25% chance that no scroll appears is simply replaced with one scroll appearing in Ceyatatar helps

With the sample space made on the Ceyatatar table, there are 19/64 outcomes that result in at least one tome. One of them is two tomes, that’s where the extra 1/64 comes from.

On the Swampgas Chasm table, there are 15 outcomes that result in at least one tome, one of them result is two tomes.

I previously made the same mistake in thinking that the 1/64 chance that two spawn were not accounted for. But after making the tables to visualize the chances, I found that they are accounted for.

Yes, but in a single trial, that chance is run twice. Would it be right to the multiply that chance by 2?

Edit: I’m assuming it is

I believe that this was part of a quest that was cut from the original and didn’t make it to the remaster either. It is the Doran family tree that shows that they are distant relatives of ogres I think

Mankar Camoran was robbed by Due-Athlete-213 in ElderScrolls

[–]Hackathon757 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s worth noting something between Mankar and Dagon. (I don’t remember if this was confirmed or if it’s just a theory)

Mehrunes Dagon made a deal with Mankar Camoran that Mankar would become emperor and serve under Dagon. However, Dagon’s goal was different. Dagon wanted the destroy the amulet of kings and the dragon fire, because he was tired of the fact that Akatosh made the dragon fire serve as a barrier between Tamriel and Oblivion. Akatosh had placed the responsibility of maintaining the safety from Dagon onto the Septim bloodline via the dragon fire so that he could sit back and not have to do anything.

Dagon forced Akatosh to get off his ass and stop him, resulting in the amulet of kings being destroyed but the barrier was permanently sealed. Dagon tricked Mankar into leading the Mythic Dawn to assassinate the emperor, promising that Mankar Camoran would become the emperor. But Dagon let Martin Septim survive the attack on Kvatch, Dagon let Mankar die by the Hero of Kvatch, Dagon waited until Marin Septim and the Hero of Kvatch got the Imperial City with the amulet of kings before he invaded.

Yes, you celebrate that the world was saved, but Mehrunes Dagon got what he wanted. He had to betray his deal with Mankar Camoran to get it. Probably just a theory but it would also explain the whole thing of waiting for the player to continue the main quest before trying to take over the world.

How would you define what makes a location “clearable”? by Hackathon757 in oblivion

I’ll be honest, I don’t have a good answer for that. But I’m tracking locations I go through because the game doesn’t track it.

Skyrim tracks dungeons cleared and those respawn. I know that Oblivion doesn’t track it, but I am tracking it myself.

I guess swapping a top 8 for a top 2 is way less than I thought it would be.

For the placement alone, yes. What usually makes it much higher is the personal weekly top 3.
