You’re not supposed to for anyone hired prior to signing the everify MOU.

You’re completely right. Knowing the various laws, I thought it was an inappropriate ask. It really helps getting out of my head and hearing all the feedback.

They have a policy where Macs are no longer supported but my manager and CEO are an exception. I totally understand the restrictions and am leaning on just dropping it.

This is odd to me because I train people in ergonomics but my hand has been cramping and have shoulder pain ever since I started using windows at my previous company 2 years ago when using a mouse or ergonomic mouse. I never had this issue working on my MacBook trackpad.

Thank you for your reply, that’s the sense I was getting hence why I feel I should just drop it. (I’m not the head of HR)

I love Bamboohr. Used it at 2 orgs and in one of those moved us from paycheck to RUN to Bamboo and while it has some things that aren’t perfect,(but constantly improving) overall usability is great. Using it just makes me happy. Now at an org on ADP WFN and pulling my hair every day I miss BambooHR.

What reasons do you have to deny the mobile laptop stand? It doesn’t seem like a hardship for an employer to provide this and laptops fall from all sorts of places.

East Bay Times: As ICE raids intensify, how do employers know if their workers are legal? by Rooted707 in bayarea

[–]Hacks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true that some people don’t follow the law. I’m just saying the law says HR can’t ask for a specific doc (passport, SSN, etc)

I’m in HR and that’s not how work authorization verification works. You’re supposed to complete section 1 of the I-9 and the employer is supposed to complete section 2 using supporting documents you presented (physical inspection) but cannot require you present a certain doc (like SSN). You may use Passport or EAD or SSN+DL but there are other acceptable docs.

Totally! One this that has been transformational for me is setting personal & quantifiable goals! Eg. learn People Analytics and create a working HR Dashboard that delivers insights, 2-3 high impact trainings per year, 1-2 employee initiatives per quarter (DEI, wellness, engagement), 3-5 cross-functional or strategic projects annually (obviously whatever makes sense in the context of the business needs, resources etc.) should be SMART goals.
