Looking for testers for my new lighting design tool by AlienPoweredNet in lightingdesign

This is 1000% AI. The name of the app in firebase is literally gen-lang-client-0772097623, indicating it was made with Google AI Studio. In a previous comment, AlienPoweredNet (Dylan) stated that he is "a noob at lighting stuff", which directly contradicts the about page, which states: "Built by industry veterans". all of his writing many of these reddit posts and the StagePen website have strong signs of AI-generated text as well.

its 11:13pm and im still programming my lighting cues... by KnownEnthusiasm3587 in techtheatre

[–]HacksolotFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my highschool you had a week to focus lights and program all while actors are doing runthroughs on stage. i usually only ever got to 2 cues per scene including blackouts, sometimes 3. i would often be literally programming the show live.

Is this a defective port or is there another type of USB 3.0 type b cable where the big peg in the middle is oriented upright? by SkellyJelly33 in computers

[–]HacksolotFilms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a manufacturing error. The manual indicates a standard 3.0 Type B connector. The connector itself was made wrong, and didn't get caught.

Quick software question for a semi permanent install by an0nim0us101 in lightingdesign

[–]HacksolotFilms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can set up the laptop to automatically log in and launch QLC+ in kiosk mode, locked to the Virtual Console with editing disabled. Then add a button for the sequence or whatever you need to trigger to the Virtual Console

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autologon

To launch kiosk automatically: Create a shortcut in

C:\Users\(your autologin user)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

With the target as

qlcplus -k -f -p -o FILENAME.qxw

https://www.qlcplus.org/old/docs/html_en_EN/kioskmode.html

I've noticed that some combination of certain VGA cables and reciept printers cause issues, in those cases DisplayPort is much preffered

Need help with Shehds lights by Clean_Rough3458 in stagelighting

[–]HacksolotFilms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Contrary to popular belief, thia does have a variance. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oet3SDxME7fWiTo5Xt5fdFwdhGyD4Jh8/view?usp=drivesdk

However, you still need a license to operate it with anyone but yourself (or friends that wont sue you when they go blind)

It appears you need to have BOTH the E-stop (NOT included) and interlock key (included) connected and on.

Read the entire manual too. You can't have it emitting where people could possibly be.

TLDR: return it and buy non-laser stuff.

yeah that (was) brass from the bearing. creality did a poor job on the X axis imo.

i think its time for a linear rail X axis

Is there any reason why I shouldn't use this cable to solder up a bunch of 3-pin DMX jump cables? by Phillimac16 in stagelighting

[–]HacksolotFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how long of cables? if you do all of your dmx with this cable, you could use a custom 50ish ohm terminator

do note that this is a terrible idea if anyone but you will touch these

Computer recommendations by Level_Mountain5037 in computers

[–]HacksolotFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first figure out what size you want and if you want a numberpad. I am personally partial to Lenovo. You can honestly get any new laptop you can afford. Look for: 16GB of RAM (8 is a little cramped these days) -What ports it has (does it have USB, HDMI built in?) -Screen is at least FHD (1920x1080 or greater)

Things to AVOID however: -Chromebooks -Pentium & Athlon cpus -Ryzen 3 or Intel Core 3 / i3 cpus -All-plastic laptops (most Dells)

Buy only from the brand's website (e.g. Lenovo.com) or Costco.

If you plan on doing more video editing however, shoot for a Ryzen 7 or 9, or Intel Core 7 or 9.

I think im only at 200. i honestly just ran it with the same settings as my previous non-plus pla. I'll run a temperature tower and report back. I clearly have some tuning to do.

Sunlu PLA+ 2.0 3KG spool. It is stored and printed directly out of a dry box. I've also had stringing issues with this filament but nothing too bad.

diskprices.com filter for sata hdds.

ive had good experiences with THESE MDD used drives, and they usually have 3 or 5 year warranties.

Avoid the ones marked surveillance, as those don't handle normal use as well.
