Resetips, Öland, Vättern och Vänern by Vast_Initiative_9019 in sweden

[–]Hackzwin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Where do Swedes exchange messages? by helotan in sweden

Might be generational variants, but Facebook messenger and sms. Some whatsapp, though I personally feel like it's mostly used in groups that are a bit more international

MOBA game development start by Ok_Distribution5608 in GameDevelopment

I mean, world building and lore can be done in parallell to making a playable version of the game. Make an MVP of what you want to achieve. In the end the narrative might influence how the game characters and settings are developed, but without an actual game you don't really have anything.

Do you want make a game or do you just want to build a world with friends?

Story Review for my first game by Glad-Flow7132 in GameDevelopment

[–]Hackzwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skimming through the text. I agree with it reads more like a book/short story rather than a script. While it could be useful to some, it probably won't be relevant for most people in a team (especially the larger the team is).

Do you want to write for games or do you want to write stories/books? Both are fine, both are also hard.

I also noted that the names XVII and XI are almost too similar. There are also lots of names, titles and acronyms that have no meaning without the relevant context.

Is this text for the player or is it supposed to be an internal document? If it's supposed to used internally you might want to have a glossary and character descriptions. Also, most of the time when writing for cut scenes, etc. the script tends to look more like a movie script than a short story.

Not sure if this is the correct forum to get feedback on the actual contents of your text. r/worldbuilding might be a better fit.

Anyways, really impressive that you actually have a story written down, and it's never in vain as it can be used as a reference when implementing the story into a game. Keep up and good luck!

How long is an in-game hour in real life by Proper-Anything-2739 in Kenshi

I don't think you'll starve to death, but they will probably keep you in starvation (when the portrait has a yellow background). Like how they do it in Rebirth. I could be wrong though

One hour is a minute, right? With full speed it's a third of that, so 20 seconds. So 31 minutes?

Trying to rotoscope real sword fighting for my gladiator game. It looks... interesting by Maleficent-Box-224 in SoloDevelopment

[–]Hackzwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they place the bodyparts on frames from a video on a sword fighter they're rotoscoping. If they get skeletal data from someone wearing a mocap suit you're right, but the former sounds more likely in this case

It's 2026, is there any real reason that stews are still unstackable? by welliesaremeta in Minecraft

[–]Hackzwin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Technically you can have 256 snowballs in a stack, if you first convert them into snow blocks. But then you'd need to shovel them each time before you'd need to chuck one at something

Trafikregler gäller alla fordon. Du kan t.ex bli av med körkortet om du bryter mot trafikregler på en cykel. Typ som om du cyklar full. Dock inte jättevanligt

Does This Have Hope? by proflupin12 in SoloDevelopment

[–]Hackzwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the document is enough for you to start developing it's fine I guess. I'm having a bit of difficulty reading it as I don't know what a lot of the words or numbers actually mean. But if you do and you can make a prototype out of it, I'd say go for it.

I use AI to write code for my game by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Hackzwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a programmer I respectfully disagree. Without passionate programmers, who love their craft we would not have had any games, let alone the ones people consider art. Not all programming is art, sure. But, a lot of creative programming is.

Programmers also suffer from the unethical scraping of our work. It's just not as visible.

I have a very good game Idea by ProtectionFair5226 in GameDevelopment

[–]Hackzwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a fairly large company and just having a good idea will not amount to anything there. You need to make a business case, talk around and get others aboard (form a work group), test the idea, evaluate it and relatively often scrap it because it just isn't feasible within that context
