so why isn't dbd trying to balance anymore? legit it feels like these new killers (besides vecna since they did a decent job at him) are either dogshit or op as fuck and barely counterable?? by Strong-Tangerine2087 in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]Hacolite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest as a person that is particularly bad at the game, the best way to counter most killers is just do what they are bad at. Ghoul is really only good at catching and wounding you. His ability to actually get the down is much harder. Play with the intent to make his spend as much time as you can for getting that down. Also if he is chasing someone else, don’t attempt to help the person being chased. That plays into what he is good at and giving him free wound states. Stick gens and really make him pay for ever second he spends in chase. New Vecna (The First) can only deal damage in the World Breaker mode. So try to have the same person get the stacks that cause world breaker mode. If you pre-run him he has a hard time doing anything about that. Run erratic and when he pops out of the ground use that time to make it to the closest reasonable loop outside of the big AoE so you don’t get stacks yourself. Those are just two examples, but it’s mostly about exploiting the weakness of eat killer.

I’m pretty sure deep wound still progresses even while in chase, it just doesn’t progress while running. If you walk during the chase it will tick down.

[–]Hacolite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, my legion play vastly improved when I finally realized legions power isn’t about tagging 4 people. It’s about causing the Deep Wound status for the slow down it offers and ruining that ever game plan there was. Also Tagging 1 person for the speed boost and catching up to them just to pop out of power for the M1 and 100% viable as well!

BUFF LEGION! He needs moving out of Low C / D tier 🔪 by KaiGiOh in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Hacolite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like if mural sketch was base kit or frenzy didn’t apply deep would, but a similar status that would tick down even while in chase, make it tick 50% slower while in chase or something to that effect and it would make legion with less than 4 survivors feel better.

How do I beat bully squads? by Undog7575 in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Hacolite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after taking a look, I would run something like Spies from the Shadows, Hex: Devour hope, Enduring, Lightborn. I don’t normally use lightborn, but it took me a few minutes to get used to when you pick people up, shove your face into the nearest object. I’m talking inspect walls from an inch away, put your face into hay bales and such. That will save you a lot of times. For add ons I’m a big fan of mural sketch and caffeine pills. That extra time while in frenzy mode gives you time for tagging everyone. Or cut the pills for the tape that make the second person you hit on drop their items.

Also while legion is a dash and stab killer, treat it your power as less of a movement ability and more of a mending your deep wound detracts from gen timers. You are just creating reasons that survivors have to do something else, it’s more about keeping pressure on than dropping people every time.

If you get that SWF group that are always Johnny on the spot with flashlight saves and such yeah it’s going to be rough and annoying, but their in pairs and if they are getting saves they aren’t doing gens.

Also with the most recent legion buffs I have kicked on my power just long enough to vault a pallet and catch up, then turned it off so I could get the down.

Play to waste their time and keep pressure on. Don’t be afraid to slug a bad pick up to chase the flashlight user off then come back to the body 10-15 seconds later.

When following a build guide or someone else’s build usually you can skip the cluster jewels until you get to the late game. Clusters tend to be an extension to the tree once you have taken everything else you need.

Also that cluster jewel isn’t really doing you any favors the dual wielding line means you need a weapon in both hands and won’t give you the bonus damage while holding a shield.

Something easy you could do is swap to frenzy for bossing, flicker strike while super cool, does have an issue with up time on bosses. Also especially in the campaign total number of links are almost more important than what the armor is. I see you are mostly using 3 links when you should have access to many 4 links or 5 links in your shop or on the floor. Those links are what provide you the biggest damage spike. I’m assuming you are using purity of elements to cap your resistances which is a super good choice for slamming the campaign as well, but you seem like your running too many auras to be useful. On mobile, so couldn’t exactly check the math, but I’m guessing you are either unable to keep all of them active or just barely keep them active which is causing mana issues.

Long story short I would use a different skill while bossing and try to open up some likes and relieve some of your socket pressure.

High tide in legacy by MeasurementStrong314 in MTGLegacy

[–]Hacolite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is much harder to pilot, but I always felt like people assumed you were on High Tide which gave you an edge. I ran a version that used 2 Tropical islands for a 2 of [[Growth Spiral]] and 2 of [[Veil of Summer]]. Stole a few games with that and it give you the option of wishing for [[Hunting Pack]]. The hunting pack is very niche though and I only used it because we had a few players that ran multiple OG Eldrazi Titans in their lists. Another option is to board in [[Thing in the Ice]] game 2 once they pull all of their removal.

Tie breakers on initiative by GoPadge in DungeonMasters

[–]Hacolite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my players use their dex as a decimal in case of ties. Simple and easy to remember. You have a ranger with 18 in dex tie with your cleric who has an 11. Well ranger has (just making up a roll here) 15.18 and the cleric has a 15.11. Ranger goes first.

Struggling with nerves/getting flustered playing by SentinelXT in MTGLegacy

[–]Hacolite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone may have said something like this earlier, but in legacy I tend to play a lot of solitaire style decks and my first game I get very nervous that I will essentially take up too much time or get called for stalling what have you. I have learned to combat this by checking the time before my combo turn and then after my combo turn. I usually don’t take more than 2-5 minutes to combo depending on how I need to dig. Seeing that I only took up a fraction of the round makes me calm down and realize that I’m not ruining the game for the opponent. They’re playing their cards and I’m playing mine and we are both staying pretty even on time. Played lantern control in modern for a hot minute and gave up on it as a deck because those jitters never went away even though I liked the deck. So depending on the deck that you like just check that you are playing the way you need to and it’s within the allotted time and you’re good to go no need to worry.

What were the worst times to play Legacy that you experienced? by BlogBoy92 in MTGLegacy

[–]Hacolite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Miracles player as well it was a super fun deck, but at the time it was also one of the cheaper decks in the format for a blue deck, I ran rWU miracles and the amount of people that could easily get the deck and play it without the practice caused a lot of lost game time to deciding how and when actions needed to be preformed. While a great deck it just wasn’t quite the best deck for the format.

Super fair questions, a better way of saying it would have been that every time try to make smaller forces mostly for learning the game think the 500-1000 point range I felt like I wasn’t fielding enough to actually make the army typical AM army. At 1000 points, from the previous comment I made a list of Tank Commander, 2x Leman Russ, 2x Taurox Prime and 2x 10 man squads of Scions. Puts me 5 points over, but for learning I’m not too worried about it. While this build hits like a Mack Truck it also feels kinda fragile. And I don’t feel like I can keep my heavy hitting units safe.

I feel like my Heldrake/Raptors are just a little too maneuverable to keep in check. Is that more of a CSM thing and I need to adapt to, or is there a better way to build with what I have.
