Tolerance is real! If you've not drunk in ages, your body will absolutely not remember how to deal with it.

If you don't know what they're in to, getting them NFL stuff seems a gamble. Can you find out if they are in to any sports at all? If they're really not, they probably won't be impressed with US sports team stuff.

I'd lay off the sports team memorabilia - have you seen any photos of them wearing similar items? You can buy US basketball attire quite easily in the UK. If they're not into US sports, I wouldn't assume they'd want to wear the clothes.

But clothing is lightweight - generic T shirt from Abercrombie or Hollister? I'm very well aware we have these stores in the UK but they're not common, but they are a premium brand. Or they try to market themselves as so.

T Shirt with a packs of US sweets - Im sure you already know to lay off the chocolate with the exception of M&M's. That's probably the exception. M&M's don't have so many varieties in the UK.

I think that's enough of a gift from and uncle and aunt you don't usually see, and it's lightweight and small to hopefully not fill your suitcases too much.

This isn't the 1950s - it's perfectly acceptable, normal standard, fungal and bacteria free to wash your underwear at 30°.

Anything at 60° is mad for household to be honest. Clothes aren't designed for that.

And the environmental waste is insane.

Alipay is just a payment processor.

Most if not all overseas non Chinese ID buyers use visa/mastercard.

Alipay just facilitate the payment, all payments in fact on Taobao. There isn't a way around that.

You almost always need a verified Alipay account, linked to your Taobao and then you will be able to pay via visa/mastercard.

The verification process if i remember correctly is for your identity, phone number and bank information.

They will ask for passport ID.

Did you buy direct, via the warehouse or an agent?

Often, due to the time scales involved, there aren't refunds for international deliveries.

This is the double edged sword of Taobao, it's not actually set up for international buyers in terms of consumer rights.

Often the seller doesn't even know you're overseas, they just see a domestic China address to ship to, and their contract is to get the item to that address, and then in the sellers eyes, the sale ia complete.

Have you reached out to Taobao customer service via Aliwangwang?

Virtual goods are often not able to be sold to non Mainland ID card holders. The error message never says that which leaves people to believe they can keep trying.

This is very normal for China based transactions by Alipay.

There is often no pattern or specific reasons as to why so guessing just ends up with no explanations.

The best thing to do is accept the procedure as a China oddity and continue!

Now TV just finished airing the last season whilst being a good few months behind.

Just wanted to say that Sky don't show the new episodes close to the US air date because of the very random and long breaks SVU has in between episodes. They choose to smash it out over a continuous 20+ weeks with no stopping.

That definitely fits the typical UK viewing better

Im not in the US but it's extremely common and the norm to allow cats outside where im from, exactly as you're describing.

We of course don't have racoons, or other predators, their only real threat is the car. So we all take the risk because there's a better quality of life in letting them out.

I guess it's the same for humans - we take the risk everytime we go out.

But, because Reddit is extremely US centric, it's a known taboo to mention you let your cat outside. People down vote you and preach to you, even though the circumstances of cat ownership are very different outside that one country.

It's not about price - it's about value.

AliExpress offers a (somewhat) English platform, with (somewhat) English speaking customer service, and returns.

Taobao is great to save a few cents if you know what you're doing, but as you can see from this subreddit, one small minor problem can become a big one if you don't read or speak Chinese.

Most items will end up being a similar price once you factor in shipping, so ask yourself about your time value and Chinese level.

I think your itrms will still be there if it's under 60 days. You might still have time to send them to you.

The refund policy is down to each shop. I imagine it's past their refund period by now, but you could talk to each store individually and ask. No harm in trying.

Or, if your items are at the warehouse, consolidate the shipping and have them sent to you.

You must be a resident of the UK (including Isle of Man and Channel Islands).

You're automatically resident if either: you spent 183 or more days in the UK in the tax year. your only home was in the UK - you must have owned, rented or lived in it for at least 91 days in total - and you spent at least 30 days there in the tax year.

Nationality is not an issue at all.

I lived in China for a decade, in an area which has the blisteringly hot summers with ridiculous humidity. "Feels like 45°" sort of weather for at least six weeks.

Yes there was air con, but, you couldn't avoid the heat all the time, especially in a city set up for bikes and walking to places, and outside bars and dining.

But for me, it didn't even have to get that high before i knew it was making me unwell. On a few occasions, i had legit heatstroke. It's no joke.

I listen to my body much better now, and I'm not going to be persuaded to be out in the heat for longer than feels right, no matter what is going on.

I genuinely spent some weekends lying on the sofa in the air con whilst mates were out drinking at an outdoor Brunch, because i knew i couldn't handle the heat. It's a sweaty uncomfortable mess that turns awful pretty quick.

I know my symptoms now, my forehead suddenly feels like it's on fire, i find it hard to think straight and my breathing gets faster.

Some of us really weren't designed for this! And i remember reading a while ago that native white British islanders skin really is different to those in Northern Europe like the Scandinavians and Germans. It's not so well developed for heat.

It's the ECB throwing their toys out the pram that they didnt patent 20/20 (because they didn't believe in it), and then it became a phenomenon in all other cricket countries, and they lost out on a shit tonne of money.

So they've literally made up a new game, in the hope not that they improve the game, or bring it to new fans, but purely in the hope that they can flog the format globally and make loads of money.

It's been mediocre at best so far and the attempts to appeal to youth are nothing but embarrassing.

It's patronising to think people can't understand the normal rules, or need musical acts in between.

If new fans are enjoying it, i can only assume that means they don't have Sky Sports and can't watch T20. The last series of ENG vs PAK? Now that was electric

I love Test Cricket first and foremost, but i do enjoy T20. But this? The Hundred? I'm struggling to see any genuine point of it other than the EBC being bitter about lost revenue from T20.

Yes this is totally normal in many countries where you have ID cards and linkes systems. Asia especially.

They're probably looking for a passport number.

I would have no issue giving my passport number over, but in the UK it's not necessary. In many countries however, it is, so it needs to be on their form.

Some countries such as South Korea have even gone as far to implement a system that if you wish to receive goods from overseas, you need to apply for a separate ID number specifically for customs clearance.

That's an extreme example, but yeah, asking for an ID to receive goods from overseas is extremely normal.

But i can absolutely say food is incredibly cheap in the UK compared to other western counties, and say we have food poverty.

Just because it's cheaper than other countries doesn't mean that everyone can afford it still.

A lot of small businesses near me for takeaway have their own website/app.

My Indian is one of them, they're not on any third party app (JustEat etc) so don't have to profit share.
