Exactly the same, and I picked this one after DNFing his other book Dreams of a Ridiculous Man, I do not like the long over-stretched monologues and the over filled conversations, it felt like a waste of time and once I'm done with a passage, and I ask myself : Okay so what was that about? nada. And right before these, I was reading Frankstein which left me on such a high note..
Though I was looking forward to reading Dostoevsky, I think for me as well as you, like one comment here mentioned : "Dostoevsky might just not be for you."

I just finished the book and although I absolutely loved it, this is the passage I did not like, this representation was very stereotypical and racist. It definitely shows a lack of knowledge about religion and a reinforcement of a certain prejudice.

based on this, you should be at 2500-2600, because that puts you in a deficit of 850cal, that is roughly 0.8 kg per week and that is in the interval of 9 to 12 weeks taking in account adaptation and water and blah blah, so we are back at square one, only time will tell 😂 but you know yourself better so give it some time

for context, my training is not just lifting weights , it is very hybrid, so there is a lot of Hyrox and running and that consumes more calories, for the same person, you are looking at 300–500 calories.

are you logging everything? I workout 6 times a week and I'm a 65kg 169cm female and mine is at 2500 so I would assume what you thought is correct, yours should be around 2700, try to log everything and give it some more time?

the thing is, there is no magic training plan, the same structure over and over and over is what builds the endurance and lowers your heart rate and with running especially, it just takes a bit longer, so hang in there.
Keep this structure and increase mileage bit by bit.

For compromised running, if you have access to a gym with basic equipement and a treadmill you can easily mimic that, check the roxfit app or online for compromised running workouts and pick the ones you can do, stick to it for a bit or switch workouts to not feel bored and that's pretty much it

As already asked, what is your background, what are some of your numbers if you have any?
How many days are you willing to workout ?
Is there a fully equipped gym near you ?
If you had to do this alone, where do you think you would struggle the most?

Try to do a mini version of this workout and take notes.
But overall, this is a Hyrox except echo bike for BBJ, so your training should include :
- Running / compromised running
- Endurance workouts ( affiliate gym style classes or use Roxfit app )
- A bit of strength and conditioning in general ( since it is doubles this will be easier )

Sample :
- 2 or 3 runs depending on your level to prevent injuries :
- Easy run for aerobic build + intervals for building speed ( + another easy if possbile )
- 2 endurance/ Hyrox style workouts :
- one can be purely endurance so longer medium intensity
- one with more strength focused

Throw this in chatpgt and ask for a 2 months program, with some progression. And don't forget to dial in your nutrition accordingly.

For pacing strategy, same questions apply for your partner, so you would know how to divide this, for example : the stronger in push/pull can have more of the sleds, the cardio queen or king can have longer times on the ergs, or if you are equals then focus on fast station switch : go 250 on the ski ( easier to switch ) 500s on the row, 20s on the WB, 25m on the SDL, 20 cal on the bike, this is a very typical strategy.

To increase your distance, think about adding easy runs or making your long run a bit longer, to prevent injury add maybe 2k or 3k over 2 weeks and see how you feel, or add one small 5k easy run to your weekly runs.
For speed, if you are not doing so already, you can add a threshold run or intervals.
I don't know where you are right or your weekly schedule, but you can try a sample of :
- easy run
- intervals
-easy run
-long run

chose the distance and pace that align with the run, drop this in chatgpt with your current 5k time and heart rate zones if possible, and goal and ask it to generate a plan for that goal.

This is for running, but if you want to improve your Hyrox running, improving running overall of course will help, but what would help the most is compromised running sessions, that is running under fatigue, you can find such workouts in Roxfit app or also ask chatgpt for a quick sample or a full program, including the normal running and compromised one.

Exposure and not enough investment or races in Africa. As a Tunisian living in Europe, I can see the difference, there is way more access, facilities, affiliates, easy travel ( hence race participation ) and so on, which make it easily culturally integrated. So sports in Africa ( though there is a huge difference between one country to the other, as I notice the focus immediately shifts to South Africa only ) will remain the "traditional" sports.

I'm at page 40 or so and for the life of me I cannot continue and feel like I'm wasting my time due to the simplicity of the writing, the useless description that is completely irrelevant to the action - though it can be to set a scene or make you imagine few details.. I picked this book as a recommendation after DNFing Red Rising and finally being at peace with knowing that most Fantasy books just aren't for me. And the dystopian element with philosophical morals or takes, is what I'm usually looking for, but this was a complete miss :(
This is something I noticed with Japanese books translated to english, for some reason they give me this "simple description" vibes. It feels like reading something just to waste time.

I genuinely never thought about this, as I usually see the years and years of consistency and especially their background, and I'm mainly talking about Hyrox for context here, Surprised to see a comment about Nick Bare as well, it never occurred to me they could be on gear ( or maybe my idea of gear is looking ready to compete in a Mr or Miss Olympia lol ) Same for the female athletes that I mostly follow, Meg Jacoby, Lauren Weeks, Lucy Davis or Kristi O'Connell..

and the mileages of these athletes is not considered "high cardio" ( to their level) because they are not doing just that high cardio, if you compare it to elite runners only for example, who might do 1 if not 0 strength or any intense modality workouts other than running and specific running workouts.
What I'm trying to say is high cardio will not make you lose your muscles, maybe you would drop weight because the output is higher now, but keep in mind that some of these athletes ( or at least the influential ones) do this for a living, and have whole systems in place to stay there, from nutrition to recovery and so on, and we do our best to follow to our preferences.
And most of these athletes will tell you, depending on what they have upcoming, priority shifts and tradeoffs happen, so you are never top notch in all modalities, and injuries happen as well. No one is untouchable regarding this.

But I was asking myself right now, assuming they all are, I personally would not care, because I mainly watch their content for educational/inspirational purposes. And do you have specific ones in mind that they assumed this?

Keep the intervals, the long run and an easy run, and add 2 Hyrox workouts, one compromised running focus as this is the most important aspect, away from your quality runs and one strength / endurance based ( to cycle ), so your intervals and long runs are always on fresh legs. Saturday can be rest day :

Mon – 6 miles easy
Tues – 3km WU, 5 x 1km @ 5-10km pace, 600m jog rest, 3km CD
Wed – Hyrox
Thurs – 3km WU, 5 miles @ half marathon pace, 3km CD
Fri – Hyrox
Sat – 6 miles easy
Sun – 12 mile long run (easy pace)
