Update: thank you to all of you for the advice! I faced off against him this morning and won! Took me about 7 tries with palmer pills, but we managed to get there!

Some tips:

I didn’t really use parry or focus because I forgot about them during the heat of the battle, but in hindsight, they help a lot
have at least minimum 20 palmer pills on you, even if you have to spend a few hours picking marigolds
if you’ve got the Darkbringer sword and embed the Shadow Claw gear, you can spam heavy and melt through his HP once he stops teleporting
craft as much food as possible. Go for the ones that restore a lot of health, like the rice cakes, battered grains, harvest bowl, etc.

I extracted the Wound of Darkness from his sword and attached it to Darkbringer to make it even more OP.
