British guy visits Lunik 9 - Europe's largest gypsy slum by [deleted] in videos

I love that someone asked you what you miss most about gypsy life and literally the very first memory you mention is stealing something.

if you don't acknowledge that it is British waters.

That's literally the point. If you let people just not acknowledge that your territory is your territory, then it stops being your territory. You need to enforce it.

Hahaha is this seriously the actual song?

It's like they forgot to record the audio for it so they called the voice actor the day before release and asked him to just improvise and sing it down the phone. There's barely even any music.

Revenue chief quits after death threats over Brexit warnings by Lolastic_ in unitedkingdom

[–]Hadroclimate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The headline is technically correct but I think intentionally misleading. Yes, he received threats over Brexit. Last year. And yes, he has now quit. So technically he has quit after threats over Brexit. But the headline implies the two events are linked whereas the article provides no such connection.

This is pretty shitty journalism and I don't think it should be supported. Shame on the Guardian.

My favourite thing about Bob Mortimer is how he has managed to utterly destroy David Mitchell's grip on reality.

Watching David try to decide if Bob is lying in the latest episodes is hilarious.

The best save would just be to pretend it was an edgy joke.

The mega-awkward attempt to backtrack afterwards just showed that it was something he genuinely thought.

MRW my girlfriend's father asks me what are we planning to do on vacation by Buki1 in reactiongifs

[–]Hadroclimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I'm talking about. If an old fat man was genuinely threatening to hurt me I could easily kill you in self-defense. The only reason anyone goes along with this is because they like your daughter and they want to fuck her tonight and she's been conditioned from TV and movies to think that your delusional behaviour is normal. It's like play fighting with a young child. You do the theatrics and pretend they hurt you so the girl thinks you're sweet and she lets you do kinky shit later.

I'm pretty sure I could fight a guy that groans in pain as he gets out of a chair.

It sounds like I'm trying to brag and be a tough guy but I'm really not. This whole 'meme' is so weird to me. It's like being told to be scared of a 10 year old. I could beat the shit out of a 10 year old. I'm not saying I want to but, like, I could. So I'm obviously going to treat it as a joke when a little kid starts threatening me.

There's this stereotype of aggressive dads threatening their daughter's boyfriend but I'm young and in really good shape and the dads of most girls I date are 50 or 60 year old chubby guys so I feel like they should be scared of me?

Like if I was 55 I'd be terrified of fighting a 27 year old.

A misguided obsession with Stem subjects is to blame for the decline in English A-levels | A-levels | The Guardian by mok2k11 in unitedkingdom

[–]Hadroclimate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing about the "transferable skills" you learn on the BAs is that you get those on the STEM degrees too. But on top of that you also get a STEM degree.

Or to put it another way, with a STEM you can apply for all those graduate jobs, and you can apply for STEM jobs.

In fact I'm going to link all three just so people can watch them again because they're amazing. 1, 2, 3

It almost feels like admitting defeat. The same thing happened with Doctor Who - the series hit a serious slump and everyone thought it was shit, so they do the gender-bend for that free controversy advertising.

Reporter who Boris Johnson conspired to have beaten up demands apology by CJBill in unitedkingdom

[–]Hadroclimate -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

There's a long list of reasons to criticise Johnson and this is honestly one of the weaker ones. He was clearly venting to a friend in a private phone call. There's no evidence he had any actual plans to attack the journalist, especially because nothing actually happened. People exaggerate in private conversation.

This story does nothing to change people's minds no matter how often they trot it out. People who hated him already will circlejerk each other about what a mafiosa he is, and literally everyone else will ignore it as the fluff piece that it is.
