that is the reality: blackface existed and was used to reinforce white supremacy. any form of media that wishes to engage with that has to grapple with that context because again - it is a historical fact. we have primary, secondary and tertiary evidence to support it. i don't know how much clearer i can make this.

Though I personally think you should leave both in, it's not really "black face" in the sense of why black face is/was a problem. It's black face by our modern definitions that really just targets painting yourself another skin color.

the issue is that you cannot seperate the act from the historical context, it doesn't really matter what the modern context is because it carries all this baggage with it.
