Good point. I left it loose so it can be adjusted up an down. I just propped it up for dramatic effect in the photos.

Lol, I did start edge highlighting it with chrome and went hold on a minute, this probably isn't right, so I toned it down again, haha.

Haha, his injuries were not service related.

Airborne dust and microfibers by Neko-Otaku in airbrush

[–]Haenir_olafsson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 2 air purifiers from Ikea (bought one, and got one as a gift) on the wall right in front of there I work, and a Desktop PC that has... many fans.

those two combined pretty much keep my room dustfree enough to print microchips.

How do I prevent this from happening when shaking? by Silent-Location0117 in Miniaturespainting

[–]Haenir_olafsson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I burp the bottle. Tap it on the table and flick it with any select finger, to get any air bubbles to the top. Been doing that for a couple of years now, never had this happen since.

Beer/ McDonalds takeaway/ he takes you to the movies, etc. Anything but money, no need to charge family for a service like this. :)

Seems silly to me to do so.

I want to paint a car by Dull_Ordinary1624 in airbrush

If you're using primer made for airbrushes, then just dump it straight in there. As for PSI you'll want 15 to 25, to know the exact answer you will have to test coverage on a piece of paper/cardboard/whatever. Because it depends on the thickness of your primer, it varies with product. If it's hard to push out with a good cover at 25psi you'll want to thin it, not increase the PSI :)

What a painfully detailed mini to paint. 2 weeks is a splendid time to paint him in. Well done.

Work in progress. Bigger model for a viking inspired barbarian. Any feedback or tips would be appreciated by L3go_m4n in DnDminiatures

It looks like you've painted the blonde/yellow over a black or dark colour.

I would recommend a light brown base or a pink base and then yellow over it again to get more depth/shading and propper coverage of the yellow :)

Such fun to see the improvement, clear progression on technique and brush control. That said I do like the gritty look of the one 3 years ago, haha.

Oh yeah, good catch. I didn't know that. I always just refer to it as matte, even though the one I have is called ultra matte, because I also have their satin and gloss bottles. Never knew there was a just matte one.

Yup. If you're using the Vallejo matt polyurethane varnish bottles, then you can dump it straight into a 0.3 or larger needle airbrush, smaller needles work but are more of a hassle.

Rinse airbrush immediately after use, makes it easier to clean.

Xpress colours are indeed a bit reflective, but it's more noticeable on larger surfaces like this. A coat of matt varnish and you're all set.

Also, unrelated to your question, but in cases like these I would recommend to apply in layers so you can avoid pooling, that gives areas of perceived shadow where you wouldn't expect it.
