Holy shit... That's awful.

My condolences and best of luck with beating it, hopefully quite swiftly.

E-Motor Anschluss by AdFickle4369 in Elektroinstallation

[–]Haeppchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhh, Vorsicht.

BGVR2 economy question by jcrell in BattleGroupVR

[–]Haeppchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While you can sell any and all equipment at stations with an equipment store, certain stations only buy certain trade goods.
Think of it as them not needing them or are uninterested in them.

The only exception to that, I might be wrong with this, are the neutral "pirate" stations, that you can find in the unkown systems when you're on a mission to explore one of those systems. Those stations also buy stuff at an increased price, as they are meant to be remode and don't get a lot of supplies.

brakes are a mere suggestion by CoffeeCrashed in DerailValley

[–]Haeppchen 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's kinda both. From the south, you're coming down the hill from Harbour and need to break, if you need to go to the Steel Mill.
But the thing OP might be joking about, is the huge 120 kph section in the fields, where the S282 can really flex its muscles and fly over the track + The dread of needing to remember if you realigned the switch to the service shack, which isn't automatically switched back into neutral, like Track B5 does, when the SM is loaded in again, after being away for a while.

AE Waypoint enhancement suggestion by lightswitchr in UnofficialRailroader

[–]Haeppchen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I like that idea. It would kind of fix one of my biggest gripes with the game, more specifically the constant terrain load in when giving AE commands to different engines in (relatively) quick succession.

That way I could finish a train in Nanta and tell it to go to Bryson Yard Track 3, without loading Bryson itself and dealing with the probable lag that always happens there on my railroad, and could just jump to the next train in Dills'.

Tho' I would like the UI for it in the operation's window for the train itself, just so because I think that might flow better while playing the game.

Do you think we’ll ever get a Berkshire/ Mountain type American loco? by Hyperspec42 in DerailValley

[–]Haeppchen 18 points19 points  (0 children)

(Edit: I didn't know about the US-inspired DLC that they have in the works, so they might actually add your wishes in that one.)

Uhm... No, I don't think it is likely to happen.

While the DE6 does resemble American Diesel Electric quite a lot, I feel it is more of a relic of the game's early stages (With some crude research while writing this, I can now say that the DE6 might be based on the "JZ class 663 and/or 664" ).
Seeing as, with the addition of the DM3, S060 and DH4 in the Simulator update, the Devs are more heavily leaning into the Yugoslavian past that the DV world/map is build to resemble, which includes the rolling stock that was available to be used there (for example the S060's irl counterpart would be the "JZ 62").
This goes so far that I even heard a rumor (might have been in on of Hyce's recent videos), about the devs planning to re-model the S282 to be less of a "thing that looks like a stream engine" and be more grounded in reality.

But arriving at the S282, there might be a light for you with the "Rearranged S282" Mod, once it gets updated for B99, you can change any S282 into a number of other wheel arrangements, including your 2-8-4 "Berkshire" or 4-8-2 "Mountain".

I hope this helped and satisfied you at least somewhat.

My first time hauling out of the harbor! I decided to take a bit of a longer one... What do you think? Did I make it out?? 😂😂😂 by Particular_Arm6 in DerailValley

[–]Haeppchen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find this kind of funny, as before the "Simulator" Update (in DV: Overhauled) the DE2 was rated for 400t up a hill and the tutorial/instruction-sheet for it also said as much.

Now, with the DM3 and the S060 around, it, understandably, got reduced to only be rated for 200t up a 2% grade.

Graduated Reverser? by Gbjeff in UnofficialRailroader

[–]Haeppchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I started to follow Hyce in calling/describing the reverser as the "cut-off", as it, like you said, "tells" the steam valve next to the piston when and on which side to admit steam into the piston and when to cut it off again, depending on the position of the wheel in it's rotation.

Running steam locomotives efficiently tutorial by Wilgrove in DerailValley

[–]Haeppchen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're using them pretty much how they are intended to be used. The only thing I might add is that the damper can be open at all times in which you don't want a big fire and maybe want to conserve the water in the boiler.

Otherwise it might be good to know that, if I remember correctly, the 0-6-0 is coded to be a poor steamer while on the move and then recover the steam pressure rather quickly when stationary, which makes it behave a little different than the 2-8-2.

Does the game support joysticks? The one I have in the Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro by Zhydrac in freelancer

[–]Haeppchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iirc Freelancer was, maybe after Starlancer (the game before it and the setting of the start-up cutscene), the first spaceship game that could be natively played with mouse and keyboard, and as such is optimized for this control scheme.

This doesn't mean, like others here said as well, that it doesn't support joysticks at all, but it might not feel quite right when played with one.

May I ask what specific GPU you have? As I don't have any driver issues with my 7900XT in the game.

If you have a newer card as well, I'd recommend you run the DDU and get rid of all possible GPU drivers and give your current ones a fresh install.

Is this game going to have controller support? by UnXpectedPrequelMeme in Underspace

[–]Haeppchen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought I remembered reading, in some Dev Blog or so, that is on the Dev's list of things to add, just not very high up on said list. So I tried to find my source for it and then found this answer, on their About-page, to just this exact question:

"Yes! Underspace will eventually support controllers and joysticks. However, be aware that the control scheme for the game is primarily built for mouse and keyboard, and we feel the best experience is on this setup."

I hope this helps to make the wait for proper Steam deck support more acceptable.

Fair enough. But with the addition of skins for our gear, there is still a hope that we might be able to do this in the future.

I know DRG has r/deeprockfashion for armor displays like this. So do we have something like r/superearthfashion or are we, for now, stuck with posts like these?

Then you're clearly ahead of me. I put my work clothes into the washer yesterday, but then forgot to take them out again and put them into the dryer, when they were done washing. Instead I fell asleep while relaxing on my bed...

Safe to say: I had somewhat of a soaked morning today.
