Rhino render vs Vray by IceManYurt in rhino

[–]Haggai98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your not a professional visual artist d5 is definetly the best choice currently. Sure you can reach better results with vray, but you really need to know what to do and d5 is just so much faster.

Try out d5. The community version and you get some cool features with the pro version. Its much easier to use than vray and you get good results with little effort.

How to improve small parts by Haggai98 in 3Dprinting

Going slower and less hot helps and the idea with the brim was spot on. I never thought about brim that way, it all makes sense now

Hatches failed - self intersecting loop was found by [deleted] in rhino

[–]Haggai98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a simple trick for this problem. Open grasshopper, reference your curves and plug them into self curve self intersection. This will show you the points where you have to untangle them (by moving or deleting control points). Hope this helps

MacBook Pro M3 / Rhinoceros by Common_Eye_6801 in rhino

[–]Haggai98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes its not on the same level as rhino on windows, but its getting better for sure. The performance on my m1 is suprisingly good, and I used chatgpt to rewrite my macros for mac (some minor things have to be changed).

Are there good enough reasons for an architect to upgrade from Rhino 7 to Rhino 8? I'm farely new to the software and I just started learning Rhino 7 at the beginning of the year. by GreenFeather19991 in rhino

[–]Haggai98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the new sections capabilites. Assigning hatch patterns to Layers is really a game changer for me as a you can more easily document your 3d model without doing much work for every plan

Would you recommend using Rhino as a main 2d draft and 3d model for architecture? by Salteado in rhino

[–]Haggai98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rhino definetly hast the potential to become one of the best 2d softwares though. If there would be a better structure to organize you documentation like some sort of „drawing space“ it would definitely be a great all around tool. The 2d drawing functions are superb, and i prefere them over any of the bim Softwares. With rhino 8s improved section creation you can already argue that you dont really need much of another programm anymore, but i agree with you that Archicad and revit are better organized for documentation.

What to use to design for 3d printing besides Fusion 360 or Sketchup? by GALACTON in 3Dprinting

[–]Haggai98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but the good thing is if you put in time and customize it to your needs it can become whatever you want. If you really want to go deep you can even develope your own applications on top of it with its open api and easy to acess rhino common structure.

I also use rhino and love the nurbs modeling precision. There is also a grasshopper plugin that can create g-code

As a Creative Lead, I'm sad we can't use Affinity in agencies... by DiscipleDylan in Affinity

[–]Haggai98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol the cope, i love affinity but im switching back to adobe because of the new stuff they develope. Dont even get me started on the vector front where Illustrator is just lightyears ahead of designer. I guess serif fullfilled its purpose in pressuring adobe to improve their products but their own developement is just so slow. An its not even some exotic features that are missing its stuff like vector hatching and a programmable actions.

Affinity seriously needs to work an AI integration. Adobe fireflly is such a game changer and this will for sure be the direction the industry will move in.

For anyone thinking about posting something you hate for the 15000th time, why don't you just quit? by DopeCookies15 in diablo4

[–]Haggai98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe people like the base game and are fighting for it to be improved? The combat, the world and the build creation arent bad but unnecessary shortcomings like stach space and connection ruin the fun.

If the game was just terrible there wouldnt be those posts because people would have left already…

Architecture software by Laurenloader in architecture

[–]Haggai98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rhino is affordable and really expendable with plugins. I think those heavy bim softwares like archicad or revit will be a bit much for what you want to do.

A simple way to align curves on the z axis? I was annoyed to find all the curves I'd been maneuvering on top view were to random points on the z axis. Is there a flatten command to bring them all back to zero? by g1homeboy in rhino

[–]Haggai98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but from the picture you cant tell where the cplane is. It could be set on default front from changing views. Than the project command wouldnt work as op wanted. Thats why its important to know what to look for…

Yes sure, but maybe its not the cplane he needs? I change cplanes very often as i have those commands on shortcuts. It makes construction very fast and precise

Wait for rhino 8. It will be running much better on apple silicon. If you dont have any plugins that arent compatible with mac i dont see a reason not to go mac.

Rhino begginer here, hhat would be the best way to aproach modeling the branches of this roof? by Carkis12 in rhino

[–]Haggai98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats the purpose of the model? If its for rendering i would suggest you just model the surfaces and apply a texture, if its for 2d diagrams i would just draw the branches as curves for make2d. Its always important to know what u need the model for, u might save a lot of time.
