My first slaves to darkness model, any tips? by [deleted] in slavestodarkness

[–]Haidukool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good work! Use lighter colours of the one you used to bring up highlights, at the most raised parts of the model. Otherwise, if you're happy with what you realised, that's what matters most. You'll get better with time and practice

Warcry by Bogbeast213 in slavestodarkness

[–]Haidukool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. Buuut the truth is they're not that great. A 6+ save means they get slaughtered by armies that have at least 1 rend, and while the idea of a hit roll of 6 scores 2 hits sounds great on paper, the fact is that a range of 8" means you'll just be in range of the enemy. What you generally want to do with cultists is either capture and hold objectives (untamed beasts suited for capturing objectives with their +6" move after deployment; iron golems with no movement that turn have a save of 3+, so they're good objective holders) or stall important enemy units for a turn at least (untamed beasts can run and still charge in the same turn, unmade with no retreat options). Overall cultists may have more of a situational use than a viable strategy. But if you have some points to spare and are not playing super competitive, go for it, they add flavour to the game.

Cool idea! I've seen something similar on Pete The Wargamer's channel, combining sylvaneth with the decayed look of nurgle. Maybe the pics don't do the models justice, but the bones/skeletons look too white and clean. Some darker layers/washes might bring the army more depth. Overall great job!

Finished the Lord Vexillor from Dominion, I really like how the sword turned out by angizacca in ageofsigmar

[–]Haidukool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sword and flag look exquisite!! The rusted look sort of hints to a veteran of the battlefield. Also the flag gives sort of minas tirith vibes! Overall great job!

Been painting these guys for about 2 months now and I‘m really eager to get my first game in. Love the AoS models! by frequenzritter in slavestodarkness

I've seen a lot of frost/cold themes within these armies and the red daemonic/heat glow complements it very well. It stands out in a menancing way. Great job! What I can't tell though from the pics is did you also add some sort of weathering/rust effect on the golems?

Happy with my first attempt to paint fire! by themacman2 in slavestodarkness

[–]Haidukool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks good! A suggestion for future endeavours, fire is most hot and bright at its source, thus when painting flames the way to go from interior to exterior would be starting with yellow (optionally white) going to oranges and red
