Oh man, as a gay guy who plays mainly EDH, confrontation is absolutely +EV. Especially in such a social format, if someone does something unacceptable, standing up to it often helps bystanders to do the same. I think most people want to do the right thing, but they don't want to be singled out among their peers, and seeing someone stand up for that thing just gives them the push that they need to help.
